We study the motion of a solid with large deformations. The solid may be loaded on its surface by needles, rods, beams, plates… Therefore it is wise to choose a third-gradient theory for the body. Stretch matrix of the polar decomposition has to be symmetric. This is an internal constraint which introduces a reaction stress in the Piola–Kirchhoff–Boussinesq stress. We prove that there exists a motion that satisfies the complete equations of Mechanics in a convenient variational framework. This motion is local-in-time because it may be interrupted by crushing, resulting in a discontinuity of velocity with respect to time, i.e., an internal collision.  相似文献

A model calculation is presented for the spin wave scattering and coherent transport at the ferrimagnetically ordered cobalt-gadolinium alloy nanojunction between cobalt leads. The structural model for the amorphous alloy nanojunction [Co1/2Gd1/2]3 is considered as an ordered alloy hcp structure of three (0001) atomic planes between the leads. To analyze the spin dynamics and spin wave scattering at the nanojunction boundary, the phase field matching method (PFMT) is implemented over the ground state of the system, in the Heisenberg Hamiltonian representation. The coherent reflection and transmission probabilities of spin waves from the cobalt leads incident onto the nanojunction boundary are calculated, and numerical results are presented for the coherent SW transport across the nanojunction over the entire range of their frequencies. The results are especially valid in the interval between nanometric SW wavelengths greater than the nanojunction width and macroscopic wavelengths. They demonstrate in particular, the possibility of the resonance assisted maxima for the SW transmission spectra owing to the interactions between the incident spin waves and the localized spin resonances on the nanojunction. This effect is general and may be observed at different characteristic frequencies and corresponding incident angles.  相似文献

A novel architecture for an optical time-division switch is investigated and demonstrated at a bit rate of 625 Mbit/s. The self-clocked configuration eliminates some of the limitations found in previous optical implementations of time-division switches: the switch operation is asynchronous, no read gate is required, and an optimal number of delay lines is used. Furthermore, this paper reports the first experimental demonstration of optical space-sorting demultiplexing.  相似文献

The orientational phase transitions in solid C60 and C70 are accompanied by quite different anomalies in the crystalline strains. In solid C60 the phase transition Fm3m→Pa3 is primarily an orientational effect (antiferro-rotational), which is driven by the condensation of orientational modes belonging to X5 + irreducible representation (irreps) of Fm3m. These modes are the primary order parameters (oops) and their number is equal to the number of irreps of T2g and T1g symmetry within the manifolds under consideration. Taking into account irreps up to the manifold 1=12, we have studied the rotation-rotation-translation (RRT) coupling between the oops and the lattice displacements. We have investigated the resulting lattice contraction and the change of the elastic constant c11 at the phase transition. In solid C70 (fcc-phase) we investigate the bilinear coupling of orientational fluctuations of T2g symmetry to transverse acoustic lattice displacements. This coupling is the driving mechanism for the ferroelastic phase transition Fm3m → R3m. Finally we investigate the transition from the rhombohedral phase to a low temperature monoclinic phase. Both the classical time-ordering and the Magnus expansion are well known in the context of linear initial value problems. Motivated by the noncommutativity between time-ordering and time derivation, and related problems raised recently in statistical physics, we introduce a generalization of the Magnus expansion. Whereas the classical expansion computes the logarithm of the evolution operator of a linear differential equation, our generalization addresses the same problem, including, however, directly a non-trivial initial condition. As a by-product we recover a variant of the time-ordering operation, known as ${\mathsf{T}^\ast}$ -ordering. Eventually, placing our results in the general context of Rota–Baxter algebras permits us to present them in a more natural algebraic setting. It encompasses, for example, the case where one considers linear difference equations instead of linear differential equations.  相似文献

Let ${\mathcal P}$ be a partial order and ${\mathcal A}$ an arboreal extension of it (i.e. the Hasse diagram of ${\mathcal A}$ is a rooted tree with a unique minimal element). A jump of ${\mathcal A}$ is a relation contained in the Hasse diagram of ${\mathcal A}$ , but not in the order ${\mathcal P}$ . The arboreal jump number of ${\mathcal A}$ is the number of jumps contained in it. We study the problem of finding the arboreal extension of ${\mathcal P}$ having minimum arboreal jump number—a problem related to the well-known (linear) jump number problem. We describe several results for this problem, including NP-completeness, polynomial time solvable cases and bounds. We also discuss the concept of a minimal arboreal extension, namely an arboreal extension whose removal of one jump makes it no longer arboreal.  相似文献

A celebrated result of Morse and Hedlund, stated in 1938, asserts that a sequence xx over a finite alphabet is ultimately periodic if and only if, for some nn, the number of different factors of length nn appearing in xx is less than n+1n+1. Attempts to extend this fundamental result, for example, to higher dimensions, have been considered during the last fifteen years. Let d≥2d2. A legitimate extension to a multidimensional setting of the notion of periodicity is to consider sets of ZdZd definable by a first order formula in the Presburger arithmetic 〈Z;<,+〉Z;<,+. With this latter notion and using a powerful criterion due to Muchnik, we exhibit a complete extension of the Morse–Hedlund theorem to an arbitrary dimension dd and characterize sets of ZdZd definable in 〈Z;<,+〉Z;<,+ in terms of some functions counting recurrent blocks, that is, blocks occurring infinitely often.  相似文献

In cooperative games, the core is the most popular solution concept, and its properties are well known. In the classical setting of cooperative games, it is generally assumed that all coalitions can form, i.e., they are all feasible. In many situations, this assumption is too strong and one has to deal with some unfeasible coalitions. Defining a game on a subcollection of the power set of the set of players has many implications on the mathematical structure of the core, depending on the precise structure of the subcollection of feasible coalitions. This paper reports on the results of studies of small particles of the superionic conductor AgI embedded in MCM-41 and SBA-15 molecular sieves with different sizes of pores (channels). The studies are performed by the dielectric and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. The temperature of the superionic phase transition is shown to increase monotonically with decreasing pore size. The enthalpy of activation of the ion motion in β-AgI in restricted geometry is determined. It is shown that introduction of AgI into pores does not noticeably affect its structure.  相似文献
