Metal complexes with azomethines containing the isomeric <Emphasis Type="Italic">E-Z</Emphasis> azo fragments

Cobalt and zinc complexes with phenylazosalicylaldehyde azomethines were obtained by chemical and electrochemical syntheses. The B3LYP/6-311G(d, p) calculations showed that the azo group in both the ligands and the complexes are mainly in the E-form.     

Synthesis,structure, and photoluminescence properties of 4-methyl-<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-{2-([1-alkyl-2-[2-(<Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-tolylsulfonylamino)phenyl]benzimidazol-5-yl]iminomethyl)phenyl}benzenesulfonamides and their zinc complexes

4-Methyl-N-{2-([1-alkyl-2-[2-(p-tolylsulfonylamino)phenyl]benzimidazol-5-yl]iminomethyl)phenyl}-benzenesulfamides (H₂L) and zinc complexes on their basis Zn₂L₂ have been synthesized. The structure of the ligands and complexes has been studied by IR, UV, ¹Н NMR spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Synthesis and complex formation of spirobenzopyranindolines containing rhodamine fragment

The interaction of 7-hydroxy-6-formyl-substituted spiropyrans and Rhodamine B aminoethylamide has afforded spirobenzopyrans containing rhodamine fragment bound to the benzopyran part via the methyleneaminoethyl spacer. The prepared spiropyrans exist in the spiropyran-spirolactam form in the acetone solution and exhibit weak photochromism at 283 K. The addition of Cd, Co, Ni, and Zn perchlorates to the spiropyrans solution results in the coloration due to the complex formation. The composition and stability of the complexes has been determined by means of spectrophotometry.     

Photochromic fluorescent indol-3-yl-substituted maleimides

New hetarylethenes, 3-(indol-3-yl)-4-thienyl(but-1-en-1-yl)-substituted pyrrole-2,5-diones containing coumarin or fluorene substituents on the pyrrole nitrogen atom, were synthesized by reactions of furan-2,5-diones with 9H-fluoren-2-amine and 6-amino-2H-chromen-2-one. Acyclic maleimide isomers showed fluorescence with quantum yields of 0.002 to 0.072. Their irradiation with UV light generates non-fluorescing cyclic isomer. The reverse ring opening occurs in the excited state.     

Photo-and thermochromic spiranes. 25. New indolinospiropyrans containing a condensed furan fragment

New indolinospirochromenes have been synthesized containing a condensed furan fragment, an analog of the methoxyl substituent in position 6′ of the chromene part of the molecule. Solutions of the obtained compounds display photochromic properties. For one of the compounds, depending on the temperature of irradiation, the cis-cisoid or trans-transoid isomer is fixed spectrally.
