Owing to the limited service capacity of express delivery providers, most online retailers have to reject many orders during hot selling seasons. In this paper, we consider an express delivery service supply chain consisting of an express delivery provider and an online retailer whereby the selling season includes both regular periods and online sales periods. Utilizing a modified newsvendor model, we derive the express delivery provider’s optimal capacity decision and find that the overloading problem cannot be avoided because delivery service cannot be inventoried. To solve such a problem, we introduce an option contract to coordinate the supply chain. By allowing the online retailer to book the capacity, the express delivery provider can rent capacity from a third party in advance. Results show this approach can mitigate the problem significantly. A new self-assembled catalyst based on titanium complex has been developed for the effective enantioselective cyano-ethoxycarbonylation of aldehydes. The self-assembled catalyst was readily prepared from (R)-3,3′-bis((methyl((S)-1-phenylethyl)amino)methyl)-1,1′-binaphthyl-2,2′-diol (1h), N-((1S,2R)-2-hydroxy-1,2-diphenylethyl)acetamide (2b), and tetraisopropyl titanate (Ti(OiPr)4). A variety of aromatic aldehydes, aliphatic aldehydes, and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes were found to be suitable substrates in the presence of the self-assembled titanium catalyst (5 mol % 1h, 5 mol % 2b, and 5 mol % Ti(OiPr)4). The desired cyanohydrin ethyl carbonates were afforded with high isolated yields (up to 95%) and moderate to good enantioselectivities (up to 92% ee) under mild conditions (at −15 °C). A three-parameter nonlinear dynamical model, i.e., the quantized discrete self-trapping equation, was used to calculate the highly excited CH stretching vibrational energy levels of liquid phase CH3CN molecule in the electronic ground state up to n=7. This report describes palladium-catalyzed C–H glycosylation and retro Diels–Alder tandem reaction via structurally modified norbornadienes (smNBDs). smNBDs were proposed to regulate the reactivity of the aryl-norbornadiene-palladacycle (ANP), including its high chemoselectivity and regioselectivity, which were the key to constructing C2 and C3 unsubstituted C4-glycosidic indoles. The scope of this substrate is extensive; the halogenated six-membered and five-membered glycosides were applied to the reaction smoothly, and N-alkyl (primary, secondary and tertiary) C4-glycosidic indoles can also be obtained by this method. In terms of mechanism, the key ANP intermediates characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction and further controlled experiments proved that the migration-insertion of smNBDs with phenylpalladium intermediate endows them with high chemo- and regioselectivity. New growth phenomena ‐ direct incorporation of aggregates have been observed on the {110} faces of cadmium mercury thiocyanate CdHg(SCN)4 crystals by atomic force microscopy. These aggregates grow in two forms: some directly cover up the steps and forms new growth layers; while others are just incorporated at the step edges. These aggregates, which are mostly oriented along [111] direction, are formed by small columnar structural units. The aggregates have the similar structure of CdHg(SCN)4 crystals and greatly vary in nature with the variation of solution supersaturation σ and growth time t. With the increase of σ the aggregates become larger, consistent with the variation of growth units dimension with the supersaturation; and with the increase of growth time the aggregates become more structurally substantial.
