We will show that if = 5 then M is theWhitehead sister link exterior, and if = 4 then M is the exteriorof either the Whitehead link or the 2-bridge link associatedto the rational number . Thermal 1,5-rearrangement of a silyl group from oxygen to carbon

Trialkylsilyl ethers of 1,1-dioxygenated butadienes, substituted at position 3 by electron releasing substituents, undergo thermal rearrangement with 1,5-migration of the silyl group from oxygen to carbon.     

The effect of loading on disturbance sounds of the Atlantic croaker Micropogonius undulatus: air versus water

Physiological work on fish sound production may require exposure of the swimbladder to air, which will change its loading (radiation mass and resistance) and could affect parameters of emitted sounds. This issue was examined in Atlantic croaker Micropogonius chromis by recording sounds from the same individuals in air and water. Although sonograms appear relatively similar in both cases, pulse duration is longer because of decreased damping, and sharpness of tuning (Q factor) is higher in water. However, pulse repetition rate and dominant frequency are unaffected. With appropriate caution it is suggested that sounds recorded in air can provide a useful tool in understanding the function of various swimbladder adaptations and provide reasonable approximation of natural sounds. Further, they provide an avenue for experimentally manipulating the sonic system, which can reveal details of its function not available from intact fish underwater.     

A novel form of the membrane protein CD147 that contains an extra Ig-like domain and interacts homophilically

Background  

CD147 is a broadly distributed integral membrane glycoprotein with two Ig-like domains implicated in a wide range of functions. It is associated at the cell surface with the monocarboxylate transporters MCT1 and 4 but interactions of the extracellular region have not been characterised.     

54Cr, 54, 58Fe, 58Ni(d,p)55Cr, 55, 59Fe, 59Ni Vector analyzing power measurements

(d, p) cross sections and vector analyzing powers have been measured at 10 MeV bombarding energy for targets ⁵⁴Cr, ⁵⁴Fe, ⁵⁸Fe and ⁵⁸Ni. The systematic behaviour of the analyzing powers with Q for states of a given J^π has been observed. Spins of a number of states in ⁵⁵Cr and ⁵⁹Fe have been deduced.     

Measurement of the spin correlation parameter A00nn and the polarization A00n0 in elastic p-p scattering between 400 and 600 MeV

We have measured the spin correlation parameter A_00nn and the polarization A_00n0 for p-p elastic scattering in the c.m. angular range between 30° and 90° at seven energies between 400 and 600 MeV. The experiment was performed at SIN using a polarized beam and target and a fast on-line event reconstruction method. The results are compared with phase-shift predictions.     

A route to large carbocycles using an alicyclic claisen rearrangement

A potentially general route to large carbocycles is described involving a Claisen rearrangement of silyl enolates derived from appropriate unsaturated macrolides.     

Embedding edge-colored complete graphs in binary affine spaces

Under what conditions on an edge-coloring of a complete graph can it be embedded in an affine space over GF(2) in such a way that two edges have the same color if and only if they are parallel? Necessary conditions are that each vertex lies on at most one edge of each color, and the “parallelogram property” (if {a, b} ～ {c, d} then {a, c} ～ {b, d}); these are not sufficient. In this paper, several sufficient conditions are given, including one depending on the classification of graphs with the “triangle property” by Shult and Seidel. If a coloring is embeddable, its automorphisms are all induced by affine transformations; this is used to study colorings with doubly transitive automorphism groups. Connections with coding theory, elliptic geometry, and difference sets are mentioned.
