A new method to detect leakage in a water-filled plastic pipe is proposed. In this method, a leakage signal-signature in time domain is first captured by monitoring the Short Time Fourier Transforms (STFT) of AE (Acoustic Emission) signals over a relatively long time-interval. The captured signal is then used to find a mother wavelet (tuned wavelet) for the best signal localization in time and frequency domains. The technique for AE signal detection using tuned wavelet is then described. Practical application of the method proposed herein is then presented using a water-filled plastic pipe as a case study. Signals generated from this experimental setup are collected to identify leakage signal-signatures from other interfering signals (background, pipe natural frequency, splash and environmental noise). The results of the experiment prove that using tuned wavelet, AE events can be detected and identified precisely in time. In addition, sources of signals due to leakage and their respective energy levels can also be recognized.  相似文献

High gradient magnetic field separators have been widely used in a variety of biological applications. Recently, the use of magnetic separators to remove malaria-infected red blood cells (pRBCs) from blood circulation in patients with severe malaria has been proposed in a dialysis-like treatment. The capture efficiency of this process depends on many interrelated design variables and constraints such as magnetic pole array pitch, chamber height, and flow rate. In this paper, we model the malaria-infected RBCs (pRBCs) as paramagnetic particles suspended in a Newtonian fluid. Trajectories of the infected cells are numerically calculated inside a micro-channel exposed to a periodic magnetic field gradient. First-order stiff ordinary differential equations (ODEs) governing the trajectory of particles under periodic magnetic fields due to an array of wires are solved numerically using the 1st to 5th order adaptive step Runge-Kutta solver. The numerical experiments show that in order to achieve a capture efficiency of 99% for the pRBCs it is required to have a longer length than 80 mm; this implies that in principle, using optimization techniques the length could be adjusted, i.e., shortened to achieve 99% capture efficiency of the pRBCs.  相似文献

In this article a dispersive liquid?Cliquid microextraction method was applied for evaluation of lithium separation from aqueous solution. Benzo-15-crown-5 (B15C5) was used as a chelating agent prior to extraction. An appropriate mixture of disperser solvent and extraction solvent were added rapidly into the aqueous sample containing lithium ion; as a result, a cloudy solution was formed which consisted of fine droplets of extraction solvent dispersed entirely into aqueous phase. The mixture was centrifuged and the lithium complex with B15C5 was sedimented at the bottom of the conical sample holder. Then, 2.0?mL of enriched phase containing lithium complex was used for determination of lithium ion by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The conditions for the microextraction performance were investigated. Under the best optimized conditions, the accepted recovery factors for the lithium obtained, ranged from 37.24 to 99.63?%. Furthermore, high preconcentration factors (7.46?C19.93) were also achieved. The relative standard deviation for three replicate measurements of 0.127?mg?L?1 of lithium was 2.83?%.  相似文献

A numerical technique based on the finite difference and collocation methods is presented for the solution of generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky (GKS) equation. The derivative matrices between any two families of B-spline functions are presented and are utilized to reduce the solution of GKS equation to the solution of linear algebraic equations. Numerical simulations for five test examples have been demonstrated to validate the technique proposed in the current paper. It is found that the simulating results are in good agreement with the exact solutions.  相似文献

Polymer gels as soft biomaterials have found diverse applications in biomedical field, e.g. in management and care of wound as wound dressing.The recent researches on nanocomposite materials have shown that some properties of polymers and gels significantly improve by adding organoclay into polymeric matrix. In this work, in order to obtain wound dressing with better properties, nanocomposite hydrogel wound dressing was prepared using combination of polyvinyl alcohol hydogel and organoclay, i.e. Na-montmorillonite, via the freezing-thawing method. The effect of organoclay quantity on the structural, swelling, physical and mechanical properties of nanocomposite hydrogel wound dressing was investigated. The results showed that the nanocomposite hydrogels could meet the essential requirements for the reasonable wound dressing with some desirable characteristics such as relatively good swelling, appreciated vapour transmission rate, excellent barrierity against microbe penetration and mechanical properties. The results also indicated that the quantity of the clay added to the nanocomposite hydrogel is the key factor in obtaining such suitable properties required for wound dressing.  相似文献

The osmotic coefficients of lithium chloride, lithium bromide, and lithium nitrate in 2-propanol have been measured by the isopiestic method at 25°C. Sodium iodide was used as the isopiestic standard. The molality ranges covered were from 0.2 to 1.5 for LiCl and LiBr, and to 1.9 mol-kg-1 for LiNO3. The system of equations developed by Clegg–Pitzer and Pitzer were used to fit each set of osmotic coefficients. The experimental osmotic coefficient data are successfully correlated with these models. The parameters from the fit were used to calculate the mean molal activity coefficients.  相似文献

Coal combustion was simulated in a lab-scale furnace and a full scale utility boiler at air-burn, oxy-combustion with dry- and wet-flue gas recycles. Good agreement was obtained between the numerical predictions and experimental measurements. The study confirmed that certain dry and wet recycle ratios imitate the temperature and heat transfer characteristics found in air combustion. The performances of five grey models to predict the radiative properties of gases in the simulations were examined. Emissivity correlations developed for purely CO2 media were not found to be suitable to predict the property at low H2O/CO2 ratios encountered during dry-recycle. Therefore, a new total emissivity correlation and a weighted-sum-of-grey-gases (WSGG) model were formulated to address the shortcomings and inaccuracies in existing grey gas models under oxy-firing. The new WSGG model with 4 band intervals was found to perform well in test cases that were representative of air- and oxy-firing conditions in boilers.  相似文献

We report a fully integrated, passive, all-optical regenerator capable of terabit per second operation, based on a highly nonlinear chalcogenide (As2S3) glass rib waveguide followed by an integrated Bragg grating bandpass filter. We demonstrate a clear nonlinear power transfer curve with 1.4 ps optical pulses, capable of improving the signal-to-noise ratio and reducing the bit error rate for digital signals.  相似文献

An almost brief, though lengthy, review introduction about the long history of higher order gravities and their applications, as employed in the literature, is provided. We review the analogous procedure between higher order gravities and GR, as described in our previous works, in order to highlight/manipulate its important achievements. Amongst which are presentation of an easy classification of higher order Lagrangians and its employment as a criteria in order to distinguish correct metric theories of gravity. For example, it does not permit the inclusion of only one of the second order Lagrangians in isolation. But, it does allow the inclusion of the cosmological term. We also discuss on the compatibility of our procedure and the Mach idea. We derive a dimensional dependent version of Duff’s trace anomaly relation, which in four-dimension is the same as the usual Duff relation. The Lanczos Lagrangian satisfies this new constraint in any dimension. The square of the Weyl tensor identically satisfies it independent of dimension, however, this Lagrangian satisfies the previous relation only in three and four dimensions.  相似文献
