We prepared an amphiphile with a penta‐phenylene lipophilic group and a branched trimaltoside head group. This new agent, designated penta‐phenylene maltoside (PPM), showed a marked tendency to self‐assembly into micelles via strong aromatic–aromatic interactions in aqueous media, as evidenced by 1H NMR spectroscopy and fluorescence studies. When utilized for membrane protein studies, this new agent was superior to DDM, a gold standard conventional detergent, in stabilizing multiple proteins long term. The ability of this agent to form aromatic–aromatic interactions is likely responsible for enhanced protein stabilization when associated with a target membrane protein.  相似文献

In the environs of uranium mining, milling and processing facilities and in the uranium mineralized terrain, a little higher ambient radon concentration and gamma radiation level may be expected in comparison with natural background. The present study gives a brief account of atmospheric radon concentration, gamma absorbed dose rate and radiation dose received by the members of public in the vicinity of Narwapahar uranium mine. The ambient radon concentration in the air in the study area was found to vary from 5 to 107 Bq m−3 with geometric mean of 24 Bq m−3 and geometric standard deviation of 1.74 Bq m−3. The measured gamma absorbed dose rate in air at 1 m above the ground ranged from 87 to 220 nGy h−1 with an overall arithmetic mean of 128 ± 18.5 nGy h−1. The mean annual effective dose received by the members of public from inhalation of radon and its progeny and external gamma exposure was estimated to be 0.32 mSv year−1, which is comparable to other reported values elsewhere.  相似文献

220-fs pulses with energies of ~100microJ have been generated by use of two different configurations of diode-pumped Yb-fiber chirped-pulse amplification systems. Energy scaling was demonstrated with 25-microm -core diameter fibers, in which stable diffraction-limited output (M(2)~1.1) was achieved. A two-stage fiber-amplifier system produced average powers of up to 5.5 W at ~1- MHz pulse-repetition rate. A double-pass configuration provided 53-dB gain in a single Yb-fiber amplifier stage, thus eliminating the necessity for multiple amplification stages as well as the need for using polarization-preserving fibers.  相似文献

To study molecular decomposition pathways it is necessary to use ab initio multireference determinant–configuration interaction or MCSCF (multiconfiguration SCF ) calculations. The MRD –CI (multireference double excitation–configuration interaction technique of Buenker and Peyerimhoff) calculations on the decomposition pathway of nitrobenzene were carried out using all of the occupied molecular orbitals in the region of the bond being dissociated, plus all of the virtual orbitals. An effective CI Hamiltonian was used into which were folded the effects of all of the occupied molecular orbitals from which excitations were not allowed. So far we have investigated the lowest 1A1, 3A1, 1A2, 3A2, 1B1, 3B1, 1B2, 3B2 states and are investigating the higher states. Our results show a wealth of structure in the potential energy surfaces for the various electronic states of nitrobenzene as a function of distance. A number of the states are predissociative and change dominant configuration one or more times along these potential energy surfaces.  相似文献

Quantum chemical ab initio MODPOT /VRDDO calculations have been carried out on the following aminonitrobenzenes for which crystal structures had been determined experimentally: 4-nitroaniline; N,N-dimethyl-p-nitroaniline; 2,4,6-trinitroaniline; 1,3-diamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (DATB—Form I); 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB); 2,3,4,6-tetranitroaniline; N-methyl-N,2,4,6-tetranitroaniline (Tetryl); and N-(β,β,β-trifluoroethyl)-N,2,4,6-tetranitroaniline. These quantum chemical calculations were performed on the molecules in their conformations as found in their crystal structures. The calculations were carried out with our own ab initio programs which also incorporate as options several desirable features for calculations on large molecules: ab initio effective core model potentials (MODPOT) which enable calculations of valence electrons only explicitly, yet accurately, and a charge conserving integral prescreening evaluation (which we named VRDDO-variable retention of diatomic differential overlap) especially effective for spatially extended molecules. Aminonitrobenzenes are especially interesting since there are inherent intramolecular ring distortions and deviations from planarity and intramolecular hydrogen bonds as well as intermolecular hydrogen bonds causing further deviations from planarity. The theoretical indices resulting from the quantum chemical calculations are relevant to a number of properties and behavioral characteristics of these molecules, both intramolecular and intermolecular. The charges on the atoms [from the gross atomic populations (GAP 's)] are needed for calculation of the atomic multipole–atomic multipole electrostatic contributions (a dominant factor) to the intermolecular interaction energies. These electrostatic interaction energies are part of the input necessary for calculations on the crystal packing and densities of these molecules. These GAP 's are also of value in interpreting the experimental photoelectron and ESCA spectra of these molecules. The total overlap populations (TOP 's) between atoms are related to the inherent bond strengths and can serve as a quantitative replacement for the old empirical bond length-bond order-bond energy relationship still used by explosives chemists to identify the “target bonds” (the weakest bonds). The TOP 's are of considerable value in predicting and tracing initiation and subsequent steps of explosive phenomena. The molecular orbital energies of the lowest unoccupied orbitals are of interest since nitroexplosives have been implicated in testicular toxicity and the initial metabolic activation appears to proceed through a one-electron reduction of the nitroexplosive.  相似文献

The prime focus of this study is to design a 50 mm internal diameter diaphragmless shock tube that can be used in an industrial facility for repeated loading of shock waves. The instantaneous rise in pressure and temperature of a medium can be used in a variety of industrial applications. We designed, fabricated and tested three different shock wave generators of which one system employs a highly elastic rubber membrane and the other systems use a fast acting pneumatic valve instead of conventional metal diaphragms. The valve opening speed is obtained with the help of a high speed camera. For shock generation systems with a pneumatic cylinder, it ranges from 0.325 to 1.15 m/s while it is around 8.3 m/s for the rubber membrane. Experiments are conducted using the three diaphragmless systems and the results obtained are analyzed carefully to obtain a relation between the opening speed of the valve and the amount of gas that is actually utilized in the generation of the shock wave for each system. The rubber membrane is not suitable for industrial applications because it needs to be replaced regularly and cannot withstand high driver pressures. The maximum shock Mach number obtained using the new diaphragmless system that uses the pneumatic valve is 2.125 ± 0.2%. This system shows much promise for automation in an industrial environment.  相似文献

The initiation step in the cationic polymerization of cyclic ethers is influenced by basicity and ring strain. We carried out ab-initio MODPOT/VRDDO/MERGE calculations on a variety of substituted oxetanes and generated electrostatic molecular potential contour (EMPC) maps in three-dimensions around the molecules. The size of the negative EMPC map region around the oxygen enabled us to predict the propensity to polymerize prior to the syntheses of the actual monomers themselves. We carried out ab-initio MODPOT/VRDDO/MERGE MRD-CI calculations for the propagation step of oxetane reacting with protonated oxetanes to cause ring opening of protonated oxetane. Similar MRD-CI calculations on variously substituted oxetanes will shed insight into relative copolymerization preferences.  相似文献

We report a long-lived charge-separated state in a chromophoric pair ( DC-PDI2 ) that uniquely integrates the advantages of fundamental processes of photosynthetic reaction centers: i) Symmetry-breaking charge-separation (SB-CS) and ii) Marcus-inverted-region dependence. The near-orthogonal bichromophoric DC-PDI2 manifests an ultrafast evolution of the SB-CS state with a time constant of =0.35±0.02 ps and a slow charge recombination (CR) kinetics with =4.09±0.01 ns in ACN. The rate constant of CR of DC-PDI2 is 11 686 times slower than SB-CS in ACN, as the CR of the PDI radical ion-pair occurs in the deep inverted region of the Marcus parabola ( >λ). In contrast, an analogous benzyloxy (BnO)-substituted DC-BPDI2 showcases a ≈10-fold accelerated CR kinetics with lowering to ≈1536 in ACN, by virtue of a decreased CR driving force. The present investigation demonstrates a control of molecular engineering to tune the energetics and kinetics of the SB-CS material, which is essential for next-generation optoelectronic devices.  相似文献
