The p-4He elastic differential cross section has been measured at a kinetic energy of 2.68 GeV. The momentum transfer region studied is t = 0.15–0.66 (GeV/c)2. The cross section displays a shallow first minimum and shape very similar to recent data at 1 GeV. 相似文献

Pump-probe differencing technique for cavity-enhanced, noise-canceling saturation laser spectroscopy
We present an experimental technique that permits mechanical-noise-free, cavity-enhanced frequency measurements of an atomic transition and its hyperfine structure. We employ the 532-nm frequency-doubled output from a Nd:YAG laser and an iodine vapor cell. The cell is placed in a folded ring cavity (FRC) with counterpropagating pump and probe beams. The FRC is locked with the Pound-Drever-Hall technique. Mechanical noise is rejected by differencing the pump and probe signals. In addition, this differenced error signal provides a sensitive measure of differential nonlinearity within the FRC. 相似文献

In order to measure the thermal noise of a mirror suspended in a vacuum it is necessary for the length measurement error due to intensity and frequency noise of the probe laser to be reduced below the thermal noise level. Here we report on an experiment to reduce the frequency and intensity noise of a 40mW Nd:YAG laser for this purpose. The frequency is stabilised using the standard reflection locking technique. To stabilise the laser intensity a technique which uses the properties of an in loop light field has been developed. This technique is capable of suppressing the intensity noise below the shot noise limit without reducing the useful laser power. A servo based on this technique has been designed and tested. The experimental results indicate that the laser noise can be reduced to a level which will allow a displacement sensitivity of 1.5 × 10-19m/
Hz for the detection of thermal noise in a frequency band of 10 to 500Hz. 相似文献

We have measured spin correlation parameters that describe the elastic scattering of 800 MeV polarized protons from an L-type polarized deuteron target at laboratory angles below 20°. The measured parameters include the correlated analyzing powers ASL, ALL and ANLL and the proton spin-transfer coefficients C0L,S, C0L,L, CSL,N, CNL,S, CNL,L and CLL,N. The results are compared with single-scattering predictions based on different phase-shift solutions for the nucleon-nucleon scattering matrix. 相似文献

This work incorporates a review of the status, in Australia, of data analysis for gravitational wave detection using laser interferometers, within an overview of the present state of such research in the world generally. In this context, data analysis refers not so much to signal simulation as to what might be called the thorough process of noise characterization and the subsequent, quality-controlled signal extraction. To the extent that problems identified here arise for all currently planned instruments, there is necessarily a global component to the discussion presented. A numerical analysis is given for the application of streamwise diffusion to high-intensity flows with marginal spatial resolution. Terms are added to the momentum equation which are similar to those used in the Petrov-Galerkin, Taylor-Galerkin and balancing tensor diffusivity methods. Values for the streamwise viscosity are obtained from mesh refinement studies. An illustration is given for the time-dependent free convection of a liquid metal in a cavity with differentially heated sided walls. The spatial problem is solved with the Galerkin finite element method and the time integration is performed with the backward Euler method. Solution quality and computation time are compared for results with and without added streamwise diffusion. For the cases presented, streamwise diffusion eliminates spurious oscillations and saves computation time without compromising the solution. 相似文献

The use of a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer of variable length (variable resolution) for investigating the output of a cw CO laser is reported. Under experimental conditions required to achieve maximum power it was found that the laser output consisted of two or more simultaneously occuring transitions due to the overlapping nature of the vibration- rotation bands. The frequency differences between these transitions were measured to an accuracy of 0.01 cm-1. Operation of the CO laser on a single vibration-rotation transition was obtained by controlling the laser gain with the experimental variables of discharge pressure, gas temperature, and optical alignment. An alternative approach of obtaining monochromatic radiation, by using a Fabry-Perot interferometer as a frequency selective filter external to the CO laser, is reported. 相似文献
