Glass transition temperature (Tg) of submicron-sized, carboxylated polymer particles dispersed in aqueous media, which were prepared by emulsion copolymerization of styrene, iso-butyl methacrylate, or methyl methacrylate with methacrylic acid, was measured at alkali or acidic pH region with a power compensation-type high sensitive differential scanning calorimeter. The Tg of relatively hydrophilic polymer particles was obviously decreased by the neutralization of the carboxyl groups with KOH, whereas that of hydrophobic polymer particles was not changed though water was absorbed therein. These results indicate that water absorption state, which means not only the amount of water absorption but also the heterogeneity of the ionized carboxylated polymer particles, markedly depends on the hydrophilicity of their base polymers. This strongly supports the formation mechanism of multihollow particles by the stepwise alkali/acid or the alkali/cooling treatments of carboxylated polymer particles proposed by the authors.Part CCLXIX of the series, “Studies on Suspension and Emulsion.”  相似文献

An efficient methodology for the synthesis of 2,2,3-trisubstituted tetrahydroquinolines has been developed, which involves the triphenylphosphine-CCl4-mediated stereospecific rearrangement of α,α-disubstituted indoline-2-methanols 15 to 2,2,3-trisubstituted tetrahydroquinolines 26. The rearrangement precursors 15 are readily prepared by the diastereoselective Grignard addition to 2-acylindolines 13. The total syntheses of (+)-benzastatin E (1) and natural virantmycin (2a) were accomplished utilizing this methodology. This rearrangement reaction might afford some chemical precedent for the biogenetic pathway of the benzastatin family.  相似文献

Polymer particles containing oil-soluble dyes (colored latex particles) were prepared by mini-emulsion polymerization. Copper phthalocyanine dyes and styryl dyes were used as oil-soluble dyes. Highly hydrophobic dyes played the role of hydrophobe by themselves and enabled the full incorporation of dyes in the latex without additional hydrophobes. Two phthalocyanine dyes having similar color were blended in a mini-emulsion polymerization so that the resulting colored latex showed enough strong color depth as a colorant. Colored latexes with high dye content (more than 30 wt% for phthalocyanine dye system and 40 wt% for styryl one) and with particle size less than 100 nm were obtained.  相似文献

The two-photon ionization (TPI) process (308 and 266 nm) of stilbene dendrimers having a stilbene core and benzyl ether type dendrons has been investigated in an acetonitrile and 1,2-dichloroethane mixture (3:1) in order to elucidate the dendrimer effects. The quantum yield of the formation of stilbene core radical cation during the 308-nm TPI was independent of the dendron generation of the dendrimers, whereas a generation dependence of the quantum yield of the radical cation was observed during the 266-nm TPI, where both the stilbene core and benzyl ether type dendron were ionized, suggesting that the subsequent hole transfer occurs from the dendron to the stilbene core, and that the dendron acts as a hole-harvesting antenna. The neutralization rate of the stilbene core radical cation with the chloride ion, generated from the dissociative electron capture by 1,2-dichloroethane, decreased with the increase in the dendrimer generation, suggesting that the dendron is an effective shield of the stilbene core radical cation against the chloride ion.  相似文献
