An investigation was made into the thermal stability and mechanical behavior under nanoindentation of a new glassy alloy with composition Ni50Nb28Zr22, produced in the form of melt-spun ribbons and copper mold-cast wedges. The alloy composition was designed based on the lambda criterion combined with the electronegativity difference among the elements. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy confirmed that the ribbons and wedges (up to 200 μm in thickness) are amorphous. The thermal properties of these samples were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Nanoindentation revealed that the hardness of this alloy, around 10 GPa, is among the highest reported for metallic glasses. Remarkably, the cast wedge exhibits greater hardness and higher elastic modulus than the ribbon. This correlates with the larger amount of frozen-in free volume in the ribbons than in the cast wedges, as evidenced by DSC. In addition, finite element simulations of nanoindentation curves were performed. The Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion allows for better adjustment of the experimental data than the pressure-independent Tresca yield criterion. The simulations also reveal that the cohesive stress in the ribbons is lower than in the wedges, which explains the difference in hardness and Young's modulus between the two samples.  相似文献

Time and space assembly line balancing considers realistic multi-objective versions of the classical assembly line balancing industrial problems. It involves the joint optimisation of conflicting criteria such as the cycle time, the number of stations, and/or the area of these stations. The different problems included in this area also inherit the precedence constraints and the cycle time limitations from assembly line balancing problems. The presence of these hard constraints and their multi-criteria nature make these problems very hard to solve. Multi-objective constructive metaheuristics (in particular, multi-objective ant colony optimisation) have demonstrated to be suitable approaches to solve time and space assembly line balancing problems. The aim of this contribution is to present a new mechanism to induce diversity in an existing multi-objective ant colony optimisation algorithm for the 1/3 variant of the time and space assembly line balancing problem. This variant is quite realistic in the automative industry as it involves the joint minimisation of the number and the area of the stations given a fixed cycle time limit. The performance of our proposal is validated considering ten real-like problem instances. Moreover, the diversity induction mechanism is also tested on a real-world instance from the Nissan plant in Barcelona (Spain).  相似文献

This work demonstrates that the detuning of the fs-laser spectrum from the two-photon absorption band of organic materials can be used to reach further control of the two-photon absorption by pulse spectral phase manipulation. We investigate the coherent control of the two-photon absorption in imidazole-thiophene core compounds presenting distinct two-photon absorption spectra. The coherent control, performed using pulse phase shaping and genetic algorithm, exhibited different growth rates for each sample. Such distinct trends were explained by calculating the two-photon absorption probability considering the intrapulse interference mechanism, taking into account the two-photon absorption spectrum of the samples. Our results indicate that tuning the relative position between the nonlinear absorption and the pulse spectrum can be used as a novel strategy to optimize the two-photon absorption in broadband molecular systems.  相似文献

We demonstrate that delta doping can be used to create a dimensionally confined region of metallic ferromagnetism in an antiferromagnetic (AFM) manganite host, without introducing any explicit disorder due to dopants or frustration of spins. Theoretical consideration of these additional carriers shows that they cause a local enhancement of ferromagnetic double exchange with respect to AFM superexchange, resulting in local canting of the AFM spins. This leads to a highly modulated magnetization, as measured by polarized neutron reflectometry. The spatial modulation of the canting is related to the spreading of charge from the doped layer and establishes a fundamental length scale for charge transfer, transformation of orbital occupancy, and magnetic order in these manganites. Furthermore, we confirm the existence of the canted, AFM state as was predicted by de Gennes [Phys. Rev. 118, 141 (1960)] but had remained elusive.  相似文献

The two protons emitted in the decay of 54Zn have been individually observed for the first time in a time projection chamber. The total decay energy and the half-life measured in this work agree with the results obtained in a previous experiment. Angular and energy correlations between the two protons are determined and compared to theoretical distributions of a three-body model. Within the shell model framework, the relative decay probabilities show a strong contribution of the p2 configuration for the two-proton emission. After 45Fe, the present result on 54Zn constitutes only the second case of a direct observation of the ground state two-proton decay of a long-lived isotope.  相似文献

The mechanisms for multimode vibrational couplings in resonant positron annihilation are not well understood. We show that these resonances can arise from positron-induced distortions of the potential energy surface (target response to the positron field). Though these distortions can transfer energy into single- and multiquantum vibrations, they have so far been disregarded as a pathway to resonant annihilation. We also compare the existing annihilation theories and show that the currently accepted model can be cast as a special case of the Feshbach annihilation theory.  相似文献

We present results from the direct search for dark matter with the XENON100 detector, installed underground at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso of INFN, Italy. XENON100 is a two-phase time-projection chamber with a 62 kg liquid xenon target. Interaction vertex reconstruction in three dimensions with millimeter precision allows the selection of only the innermost 48 kg as the ultralow background fiducial target. In 100.9 live days of data, acquired between January and June 2010, no evidence for dark matter is found. Three candidate events were observed in the signal region with an expected background of (1.8 ± 0.6) events. This leads to the most stringent limit on dark matter interactions today, excluding spin-independent elastic weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) nucleon scattering cross sections above 7.0 × 10(-45) cm(2) for a WIMP mass of 50 GeV/c(2) at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

We elaborate on a general method that we recently introduced for characterizing the “natural” structures in complex physical systems via multi-scale network analysis. The method is based on “community detection” wherein interacting particles are partitioned into an “ideal gas” of optimally decoupled groups of particles. Specifically, we construct a set of network representations (“replicas”) of the physical system based on interatomic potentials and apply a multiscale clustering (“multiresolution community detection”) analysis using information-based correlations among the replicas. Replicas may i) be different representations of an identical static system, ii) embody dynamics by considering replicas to be time separated snapshots of the system (with a tunable time separation), or iii) encode general correlations when different replicas correspond to different representations of the entire history of the system as it evolves in space-time. Inputs for our method are the inter-particle potentials or experimentally measured two (or higher order) particle correlations. We apply our method to computer simulations of a binary Kob-Andersen Lennard-Jones system in a mixture ratio of A80B20 , a ternary model system with components “A”, “B”, and “C” in ratios of A88B7C5 (as in Al88Y7Fe5 , and to atomic coordinates in a Zr80Pt20 system as gleaned by reverse Monte Carlo analysis of experimentally determined structure factors. We identify the dominant structures (disjoint or overlapping) and general length scales by analyzing extrema of the information theory measures. We speculate on possible links between i) physical transitions or crossovers and ii) changes in structures found by this method as well as phase transitions associated with the computational complexity of the community detection problem. We also briefly consider continuum approaches and discuss rigidity and the shear penetration depth in amorphous systems; this latter length scale increases as the system becomes progressively rigid.  相似文献

We look for topological BPS solutions of an Abelian Maxwell–Higgs theory endowed by non-standard kinetic terms to both gauge and scalar fields. Here, the non-usual dynamics are controlled by two positive functions, G(|ϕ|) and w(|ϕ|), which are related to the self-dual scalar potential V(|ϕ|) of the model by a fundamental constraint. The numerical results we found present interesting new features, and contribute to the development of the recent issue concerning the study of generalized models and their applications.  相似文献

Transition wavelengths and probabilities for several 2p 4 3p-2p 4 3s and 2p 4 3d-2p 4 3p lines in fluorine-like neon ion (NeII) have been calculated within the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock (MCDF) method with quantum electrodynamics (QED) corrections.
