Abstract— Reaction centers from Rhodobacter sphaeroides have been modified by treatment with sodium borohydride similar to the original procedure [Ditson et al., Biochim. Biophys. Acta 766 , 623 (1984)], and investigated spectroscopically and by gel electrophoresis.
(1) Low temperature (1.2 K) absorption, fluorescence, absorption- and fluorescence-detected ODMR, and microwave-induced singlet-triplet absorption difference spectra (MIA) suggest that the treatment produces a spectroscopically homogeneous preparation with one of the 'additional' bacteriochlorophylls being removed. The modification does not alter the zero field splitting parameters of the primary donor triplet (TP870).
(2) From the circular dichroism and Raman resonance spectra in the1500–1800 cm-1 region, the removed pigment is assigned to BchlM, e.g. the "extra" Bchl on the "inactive" M-branch.
(3) A strong coupling among all pigment molecules is deduced from the circular dichroism spectra, because pronounced band-shifts and/or intensity changes occur in the spectral components assigned to all pigments. This is supported by distinct differences among the MIA spectra of untreated and modified reaction centers, as well as by Raman resonance.
(4) The modification is accompanied by partial proteolytic cleavage of the M-subunit. The preparation is thus spectroscopically homogeneous, but biochemically heterogenous.  相似文献

The tetraphosphides (tBu3Si)3P4M3 (M = Li, Na) and (tBu2PhSi)3P4Na3 have been synthesized in high yield from the reaction of 3 equivalents of the silanides tBu3SiM (M = Li, Na) and tBu2PhSiNa with P4 in benzene. (tBu3Si)3P4M3 (M = Li, Na) are transformed into the unsaturated triphosphides (tBu3Si)2P3M (M = Li, Na) and tBu3SiPM2 in tetrahydrofuran at ambient temperature.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Starting from tetrakis(3,5-bis(bromomethyl)phenyl)porphyrin, pincer-porphyrin hybrid molecules (tetrakis(ECE-pincer)porphyrin; E = N, P, S) based on a tetraphenylporphyrin skeleton have been prepared in high yields. Zusammenfassung Durch Zonenschmelzen konnte hochreiner Schwefel dargestellt werden, dessen Verunreinigungsgehalt (Kohlenstoff: weniger als 2,4 · 10–4%, Silicium 1,3 · 10–6%, Magnesium: 4,0 · 10–6%) wesentlich kleiner war als bei allen nach anderen Verfahren gereinigten Schwefelproben. Ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Silicium, Eisen und Magnesium in kleinen Schwefeleinwaagen durch Spektralanalyse ohne vorherige Anreicherung wurde ausgearbeitet.
Summary High-purity sulphur was prepared by zone melting. The percentage of impurities (carbon < 2.4×10–4%, silicon 1.3×10–6%, magnesium 4.0×10–6%) was considerably smaller than in sulphur purified by other procedures. A method is described for the determination of silicon, iron and magnesium in sulphur samples by direct spectroscopic analysis without enrichment of the elements to be analysed.

Synthesis and Molekular Structures of N‐substituted Diethylgallium‐2‐pyridylmethylamides (2‐Pyridylmethyl)(tert‐butyldimethylsilyl)amine ( 1a ) and (2‐pyridylmethyl)‐di(tert‐butyl)silylamine ( 1b ) form with triethylgallane the corresponding red adducts 2a and 2b via an additional nitrogen‐gallium bond. These oily compounds decompose during distillation. Heating under reflux in toluene leads to the elimination of ethane and the formation of the red oils of [(2‐pyridylmethyl)(tert‐butyldimethylsilyl)amido]diethylgallane ( 3a ) and [(2‐pyridylmethyl)‐di(tert‐butyl)silylamido]diethylgallane ( 3b ). In order to investigate the thermal stability solvent‐free 3a is heated up to 400 °C. The elimination of ethane is observed again and the C‐C coupling product N, N′‐Bis(diethylgallyl)‐1, 2‐dipyridyl‐1, 2‐bis(tert‐butyldimethylsilyl)amido]ethan ( 4 ) is found in the residue. Substitution of the silyl substituents by another 2‐pyridylmethyl group and the reaction of this bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)amine with GaEt3 yield triethylgallane‐diethylgallium‐bis(2‐pyridylmethyl)amide ( 5 ). The metalation product adds immediately another equivalent of triethylgallane regardless of the stoichiometry. The reaction of GaEt3 with 2‐pyridylmethanol gives quantitatively colorless 2‐pyridylmethanolato diethylgallane ( 6 ).  相似文献

In the presence of [Ru(terpyridine)(2,6‐pyridinedicarboxylate)], aliphatic and benzylic alcohols are oxidized to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones with high selectivity by using hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. There is no need for the addition of co‐catalysts or organic solvents. By applying an optimized reaction protocol, high catalyst productivity (turnover number>10 000) and activity (turnover frequency up to 14 800 h?1) has been achieved.  相似文献

The influence of crystal surface charge on the thermodynamic and structural behavior of phospholipid monolayers has been investigated. We present how charged nanocrystals in the vicinity of an inherently nonordered lipid membrane provoke strong effects on the molecular arrangement within the monolayer. Apart from the induction of phase shifts and nucleation processes, the molecules were forced to adopt an ordered phase. A very recently developed X-ray scattering method is used for the first time to replace time-consuming specular reflectivity measurements. We conclude on the potential effects of crystal surface charge on cellular membranes.  相似文献

The reactivity of the bifunctionalized ligand NC(Br)N-I 1 [IC(6)H(2)(CH(2)NMe(2))(2)-3,5-Br-4] has been studied as a versatile synthon for organic and/or organometallic synthesis. Chemoselective metalation (M = Pd, Pt, Li) at the C(aryl)-I or C(aryl)-Br bonds was achieved by choosing the appropriate metal precursors. In this way a series of Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes were prepared that have a second functional group available for further reactions. These Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes were subjected to a wide range of organic and organometallic reactions, revealing the remarkable stability of their M-C sigma-bond and opening an easy route for the synthesis of mono- and (hetero)bimetallic building blocks. The scope of the chemistry of such building blocks shows that they are good candidates for use in the synthesis of dendrimers, bioorganometallic systems, or polymetallic materials. The X-ray crystal structures of the most representative complexes (2, 3a, 19, 20, and 24) are also reported.  相似文献

The separation of cis/trans isomers of β-carotene has been performed with a C30 stationary phase employing 1H NMR spectroscopy as an on-line detection technique. 1D as well as 2D NMR spectra have been recorded in the stopped-flow mode for the predominant chromatographic peaks. Structural assignment of the five identified isomers was performed via comparison of simulated 1D 1H NMR spectra on the basis of the structures of β-carotene cis/trans isomers with the experimental data, and also by the analysis of the proton-proton connectivities in the 2D NMR spectra of three isomers with the highest concentration. The chromatographic retention behaviour of the isomers agreed well with previously reported data. The advantage of the applied hyphenated coupling technique compared to conventional off-line techniques lies in the fact that chromatographic separation and NMR detection are performed in a closed system, so that reisomerization of the separated compounds is inhibited. Homogeneous electrocatalytic proton reduction is reported using cobalt complex [ 1 ](BF4)2. This complex comprises two bis(1-methyl-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methane (HBMIM ) ligands that contain an acidic methylene moiety in their backbone. Upon reduction of [ 1 ](BF4)2 by either electrochemical or chemical means, one of its HBMIM ligands undergoes deprotonation under the formation of dihydrogen. Addition of a mild proton source (acetic acid) to deprotonated complex [ 2 ](BF4) regenerates protonated complex [ 1 ](BF4)2. In presence of acetic acid in acetonitrile solvent [ 1 ](BF4)2 shows electrocatalytic proton reduction with a kobs of ≈200 s−1 at an overpotential of 590 mV. Mechanistic investigations supported by DFT (BP86) suggest that dihydrogen formation takes place in an intramolecular fashion through the participation of a methylene C−H bond of the HBMIM ligand and a CoII−H bond through formal heterolytic splitting of the latter. These findings are of interest to the development of responsive ligands for molecular (base)metal (electro)catalysis.  相似文献
