Singles and coincidence charge distributions are combined to illustrate the mechanism for the 220-MeV40Ar+238U reaction. It is found that the apparent peak in the coincidence fragment distribution corresponding toZ=82 (A=208) can be explained in terms of the fissionability of the target-like fragments produced in deep-inelastic collisions rather than as a manifestation of shell effects in compound-nucleus fission, as has been postulated for a similar system. 相似文献

Time-resolved local induction measurements near the vortex lattice order-disorder transition in optimally doped Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) crystals show that the high-field, disordered phase can be quenched to fields as low as half the transition field. Over an important range of fields, the electrodynamical behavior of the vortex system is governed by the coexistence of ordered and disordered vortex phases in the sample. We interpret the results as supercooling of the high-field phase and the possible first-order nature of the order-disorder transition at the "second magnetization peak." 相似文献

In recent times a great amount of progress has been achieved in symplectic and contact geometry, leading to the development of powerful invariants of 3-manifolds such as Heegaard Floer homology and embedded contact homology. These invariants are based on holomorphic curves and moduli spaces, but in the simplest cases, some of their structure reduces to some elementary combinatorics and algebra which may be of interest in its own right. In this note, which is essentially a light-hearted exposition of some previous work of the author, we give a brief introduction to some of the ideas of contact topology and holomorphic curves, discuss some of these elementary results, and indicate how they arise from holomorphic invariants. 相似文献

The aim of this research is to compare two continuous extraction technologies, intermittent counter-current extraction (ICcE) and dual flow counter-current chromatography (DFCCC), in terms of loading and throughput using the GUESSmix, and show the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods. A model sample containing caffeine, vanillin, naringenin and carvone, with a total load of 11.2 g, was employed with a hexane-ethyl acetate-methanol-water (2:3:2:3) phase system to evaluate an ICcE method on a preparative (912 ml coil volume) DE-Midi instrument. While DFCCC was carried out on a specially designed preparative (561 ml coil volume) bobbin installed in a similar Midi instrument case. While similar throughputs of 7.8 g/h and 6.9 g/h were achieved for the ICcE and DFCCC methods respectively, ICcE was demonstrated to have a number of advantages over DFCCC. 相似文献

Cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) is a dioecious plant that produces both male and female inflorescences. In nature, male and female plants can be found with nearly equal frequency, which determines species out-crossing. In cannabis farming, only female plants are preferred due to their high yield of cannabinoids. In addition to unfavorable male plants, commercial production of cannabis faces the appearance of hermaphroditic inflorescences, species displaying both pistillate flowers and anthers. Such plants can out-cross female plants, simultaneously producing undesired seeds. The problem of hermaphroditic cannabis triggered a search for analytical tools that can be used for their rapid detection and identification. In this study, we investigate the potential of Raman spectroscopy (RS), an emerging sensing technique that can be used to probe plant biochemistry. Our results show that the biochemistry of male, female and hermaphroditic cannabis plants is drastically different which allows for their confirmatory identification using a hand-held Raman spectrometer. Furthermore, the coupling of machine learning approaches enables the identification of hermaphrodites with 98.7% accuracy, whereas both male and female plants can be identified with 100% accuracy. Considering the label-free, non-invasive and non-destructive nature of RS, the developed optical sensing approach can transform cannabis farming in the U.S. and overseas. 相似文献

In pH-responsive drug carriers, the distribution of charges has been proven to affect delivery efficiency but is difficult to control and verify. Herein, we fabricate polyampholyte nanogel-in-microgel colloids (NiM−C) and show that the arrangement of the nanogels (NG) can easily be manipulated by adapting synthesis conditions. Positively and negatively charged pH-responsive NG are synthesized by precipitation polymerization and labelled with different fluorescent dyes. The obtained NG are integrated into microgel (MG) networks by subsequent inverse emulsion polymerization in droplet-based microfluidics. By confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), we verify that depending on NG concentration, pH value and ionic strength, NiM−C with different NG arrangements are obtained, including Janus-like phase-separation of NG, statistical distribution of NG, and core–shell arrangements. Our approach is a major step towards uptake and release of oppositely charged (drug) molecules. 相似文献
