Regio-specific synthesis of new 1-(tert-butyl)-1H-pyrazolecarboxamide derivatives

Regio-specific and non-regiospecific condensation reactions on 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds rendered 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazoles. Herein, the control of regio-specificity was a significant improvement in pyrazole research. A high yield acylation of poorly nucleophilic aryl amines, which resulted in mono- or diacylated products depending on the reaction conditions, is described. As a result, a library of potentially bioactive compounds was obtained.     

Poly(4-amino-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole) films: preparation,characterization and applications

The electrochemical preparation of novel poly(4-amino-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole) films on a platinum surface in sulfuric aqueous medium by cyclic voltammetry is described. The resulting polymeric electrodes were characterized by FT Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and potentiometry. Spectroscopic measurements confirmed the participation of the amino group and sulfur atom in the process that forms the granular structure of poly(ABTD). Potentiometric results showed the response of the poly(ABTD) film towards divalent cations such as Zn²⁺ and Cd²⁺ in the concentration range from 10^?7 up to 10^?2 mol L^?1. A cooperative combination of the cation-sensitive poly(ABTD) electrodes in an array with pH- and anion-sensitive electrodes was able to recognize different Czech beers.     

Designed Boron-Rich Polymeric Nanoparticles Based on Nano-ion Pairing for Boron Delivery

Boron-rich particles with the boron fraction ca.10–20 wt % of controllable shape and size that can be easily prepared via simple ion co-assembly are promising material for tumor treatment by boron neutron capture therapy. Electroneutral, dynamic core-shell polymeric nanoparticles were prepared by co-assembly of cationic PEO-block-PGEA diblock copolymer with sodium closo-dodecaborate, Na₂[B₁₂H₁₂]. This is the first example of polymer nanoparticles based on [B₁₂H₁₂]²⁻nano-ion pairing. The high [B₁₂H₁₂]²⁻ loading is proven by calorimetry at physiological salt concentration. As a result of rational design, rod-, worm- and sphere-like particles were produced and further tested using human glioblastoma and cervical carcinoma cell lines. Rod-like particles yielded the highest internalization capability in all tested cell lines.     

A saint-venant principle for the gradient in the Neumann problem

The maximum principle for subharmonic functions is used to obtain upper bounds for the gradient in the Neumann problem of potential theory. These bounds, which concern a curvilinear strip domain having nonzero boundary data only on an end, entail an exponential decay of the gradient magnitude with distance from that end.

Diese Schranken betreffen einem gekrümmten Streifenbereich mit von Null verschiedenen Grenzdaten an einem Ende und haben zur Folge, dass der Betrag des Gradienten exponentiell mit dem Abstand von diesem Ende abfällt.

     

Chemical intermediates scavengers in the therapy of allergic diseases

Although oxidative status has been related to several pathophysiologic processes, there is not a well established connection between antioxidant defense and allergy. An imbalance of reactive oxygen species is related to inflammation in allergic diseases. Antioxidant enzymes are involved in cell detoxification. This primary antioxidant defence system might work against allergic's symptoms. In this work, arguments in favour of the potential of free radical scavengers in antioxidant therapy for allergic patients are discussed.     

Anion-exchange equilibrium and phase segregation in hydrotalcite systems: intercalation of hexacyanoferrate(III) ions

The intercalation of hexacyanoferrate(III) in chloride-hydrotalcite was studied as a function of the composition of the equilibrated aqueous phase, the relevant solution variable being the ratio (C(Fe(CN)(6)(3-))(1/3)/C(Cl)-. The isotherm shows that the exchange is markedly nonideal and reveals the segregation of two solid phases of fixed compositions at (C(Fe(CN)(6)(3-))(1/3)/C(Cl)- = 17.1 M(-2/3). This is the first case of solid phase segregation during anion exchange in hydrotalcite systems diagnosed from thermodynamic measurements. In agreement, PXRD patterns of the partially exchanged solids indicate that these phases, with distinct basal spacings, coexist in the range 0.21 < or = x < or = 0.86. The observed behavior is accounted for by classical thermodynamic formalisms of ion exchange. The limitations of other representations commonly used to describe anion exchange in layered double hydroxide systems are stressed. A rationale of the structural changes accompanying the exchange is also offered.
