Abstract

The authors have developed a novel, rapid, convenient, and specific gene detection method, named the ‘DNA sensor,’ using a graphite electrode loaded with DNA probes. Synthesized oligonucleotide (5-TGCAGTTCCGGTGGCTGATC-3′) complementary to oncogene v-myc was employed for a model probe. The oligonucleotide was chemically adsorbed on a basal plane pyrolytic graphite (BPPG) electrode. The sensor was able to be applied to a hybridization reaction (40°C) in a linearized pVM623 solution carrying the Pst I fragment of v-myc (1.5 kbp).

After the hybridization reaction, the sensor was immersed into an acridine orange solution (1 μM) and washed with a phosphate buffer (pH 7.0). Acridine orange intercalated between base pairs of the formed double stranded DNAs on the electrode. The anodic peak potential of acridine orange that interacted with the DNAs on the electrode was measured. The positive shift of the peak potential increased in proportional to the pVM623 concentration in the hybridization reaction. 10?1 g/ml of pVM623 was able to be detected in the buffer solution using the sensor. Abstract

Three types of nematogenic compound, 4-[2-(trans-4-alkylcyclohexyl)ethyl]-4′-alkyltolanes, 2-fluoro-4-[2-(trans-4-alkylcyclohexyl)ethyl]-4′-alkyltolanes and 4-[2-(trans-4-alkylcyclohexyl)ethyl]-4′-halogenotolanes, have been synthesized and their transition temperatures and enthalpies determined. Their bulk viscosity and birefringence have been estimated from those of mixtures with other liquid-crystalline compounds. These compounds have been found to be excellent materials for twisted nematic displays, because of their wide nematic temperature range, high birefringence (Δn = 0·26), and low viscosity (η = 21 cP at 20°C). Several related compounds having other central linkages, namely -CH2O-, a single bond or -COO-, in place of the 1,2-ethylene group, have also been studied.  相似文献

Fluoro(silyl)acetylenes, which were prepared by reaction of 1,1-difluoroethylene with silyl chlorides, reacted with triethylamine to give dark-brown colored polyfluoro(silyl)acetylene powders in excellent to moderate isolated yields. In contrast, the corresponding nonfluorinated acetylene was unable to react with triethylamine at all to afford poly(silyl)acetylene under similar conditions. Polyfluoro(silyl)acetylenes thus obtained were nanometer size-controlled cubic fine particles with a good dispersibility and stability in a variety of solvents. These polyfluoro(silyl)acetylene nanoparticles exhibited clear absorption and emission spectra related to the conjugated units in polymer main chain. Furthermore, these polyfluoro(silyl)acetylene nanoparticles were applied to the surface modification of poly(methyl methacrylate) [PMMA] film to exhibit a higher oleophobicity imparted by fluorine on their surface, compared to that on the reverse side.

Head-to-head-type styrene and substituted styrene dimers bearing two fluoroalkyl end-groups have been efficiently synthesized by a simple reaction of perfluoroalkyl iodide with styrene under radical conditions as a mixture of meso and racemic forms. The meso form obtained from the mixture by recrystallization gave a crystal suitable for X-ray diffraction study and the crystal structure was found to be based on π-stacking of benzene rings and aggregation of fluoroalkyl chains. Dynamic light scattering measurements showed that meso-styrene dimers bearing two fluoroalkyl end-groups can form the nanometer size-controlled self-assemblies through the intermolecular π-stacking of benzene rings and aggregation of end-capped fluoroalkyl groups in methanol.

A series of panchromatic ruthenium sensitizers ( MJ sensitizers) with attached thiophene and phenyl units bearing alkyl chains was synthesized. A new synthetic route was used to examine all possible positions for the alkyl chains. The absorption spectra showed the sum of a ruthenium complex and peripheral organic chromophore units. The hypochromic effect and blueshift of the metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer band observed in the modified ruthenium sensitizers were suppressed by changing the positions of the alkyl chains on the attached thiophene ring. Changing only one alkyl chain also influenced the performance of dye‐sensitized solar cells. Ruthenium sensitizer MJ‐10 with bulky substituent harvests visible and near‐infrared light, and solar cells sensitized by MJ‐10 exhibit an efficiency of 9.1 % under 1 sun irradiation.  相似文献

α-Trifluoromethyl chalcones were prepared and evaluated for their antiproliferative activities against androgen-independent prostate cancer cell lines as well as five additional types of human tumor cell lines. The most potent chalcone 5 showed superior antitumor activity in vivo with both oral and intraperitoneal administration at 3 mg/kg. Cell-based mechanism of action studies demonstrated that 5 induced cell accumulation at sub-G1 and G2/M phases without interfering with microtubule polymerization. Furthermore, several cancer cell growth-related proteins were identified by using chalcone 5 as a bait for the affinity purification of binding proteins.  相似文献

Liquid vinyl monomers were converted into solid crystals via halogen bonding. They underwent solid-phase radical polymerizations through heating at 40 °C or ultraviolet photo-irradiation (365 nm). The X-ray crystallography analysis showed the high degree of monomer alignment in the crystals. The polymerizations of the solid monomer crystals yielded polymers with high molecular weights and relatively low dispersities because of the high degree of the monomer alignment in the crystal. As a unique application of this system, the crystalized monomers were assembled to pre-determined structures, followed by solid-phase polymerization, to obtain a two-layer polymer sheet and a three-dimensional house-shaped polymer material. The two-layer sheet contained a unique asymmetric pore structure and exhibited a solvent-responsive shape memory property and may find applications to asymmetric membranes and polymer actuators.  相似文献

We prepared Ln(III) (Ln=Eu, Gd, and Yb) complexes with a tripodal Schiff base, tris[2-(5-methylsalicylideneimino)ethyl]amine (H3L) and studied their photophysical properties. Upon ligand excitation, YbL showed Yb(III)-centered luminescence in the near-infrared region. While the overall quantum yield (0.60(1)%) of YbL in acetonitrile was moderate among the reported values for Yb(III) complexes, its radiative lifetime (0.33(2) ms) was significantly shorter than those reported previously. We propose that the ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) state mediated the sensitization in YbL. The emission and excitation spectra of EuL indicated the participation of the LMCT state in the sensitization. The radiative lifetime (0.84(7) ms) for EuL in the solid state was rather short compared to those of reported Eu(III) complexes. Our results show that the Yb(III) complex with the Schiff base ligand has two features: the short radiative lifetime and the non-triplet sensitization path.  相似文献
