The decays of3 S 1 quarkonia into a photon and a scalar or pseudoscalar Higgs particle are examined, taking into account the bound-state dynamics in the framework of a nonrelativistic potential model. We find that for realistic quark potentials the naive calculation [1] overestimates the scalar rate. Numerical results are obtained for the \(\bar bb\) and \(\bar tt\) quark systems.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to revisit the problem of acetylene adsorption on silicon (100). Extending previous theoretical work and including van der Waals forces explicitly in the simulations we remove existing ambiguities about the adsorption sites. The simulated adsorption energies and scanning tunneling microscopy contours are in good agreement with experimental data, they support the interpretation of a two-dimer feature at the surface as resulting from the adsorption of two individual molecules. It is also found that the simulated apparent heights agree with experimental values, if the actual bandgap of silicon is taken into account.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of public media attention by monitoring the content of online blogs. Social and media events can be traced by the propagation of word frequencies of related keywords. Media events are classified as exogenous–where blogging activity is triggered by an external news item–or endogenous where word frequencies build up within a blogging community without external influences. We show that word occurrences exhibit statistical similarities to earthquakes. Moreover the size distribution of events scales with a similar exponent as found in the Gutenberg–Richter law. The dynamics of media events before and after the main event can be satisfactorily modeled as a type of process which has been used to understand fore–and aftershock rate distributions in earthquakes–the Omori law. We present empirical evidence that for media events of endogenous origin the overall public reception of the event is correlated with the behavior of word frequencies at the beginning of the event, and is to a certain degree predictable. These results imply that the process of opinion formation in a human society might be related to effects known from excitable media.  相似文献

Synapsins are abundant synaptic vesicle associated phosphoproteins that are involved in the fine regulation of neurotransmitter release. The Drosophila member of this protein family contains three conserved domains (A, C, and E) and is expressed in most or all synaptic terminals. Similar to mouse mutants, synapsin knock-out flies show no obvious structural defects but are disturbed in complex behaviour, notably learning and memory.  相似文献

We discuss the role of classical control in the context of reversible quantum cellular automata. Employing the structure theorem for quantum cellular automata, we give a general construction scheme to turn an arbitrary cellular automaton with external classical control into an autonomous one, thereby proving the computational equivalence of these two models. We use this technique to construct a universally programmable cellular automaton on a one-dimensional lattice with single cell dimension 12.  相似文献

A main source of information about the muon-catalyzed fusion cycle in D-T mixtures are the cycling rates c, which are characteristic for the kinetic equilibrium of states attained rapidly in dense targets. The measurement, analysis and interpretation of these rates will be discussed, concentrating on the extensive set of rates observed at PSI over the last decade in gaseous, liquid and solid targets.Invited talk presented by Peter Kammel.  相似文献

Complementary to the investigations of the most efficient dt cycle, also the other muon-induced fusion cycles in mixtures of hydrogen isotopes have been studied. The results of these dedicated experiments provide rich information about muon-induced few-body reactions and contribute significantly to a better overall understanding of CF. A summary of the recent progress will be presented. Special emphasis will be put on two characteristic examples, namely a new experimental approach to study the muonic cascade in H-D mixtures and the systematic study of hyperfine effects in muon-induced reactions.  相似文献
