Photolytic transformations of aluminum,gallium, and indium tris(3,6-di-<Emphasis Type="Italic">tert</Emphasis>-butyl-1,2-semiquinolates)

The quantum yields of photolytic transformations of aluminum, gallium, and indium tris(3,6-di-tert-butyl-1,2-semiquinolates) in solutions of saturated hydrocarbons were determined. The final products of photodecomposition formed upon irradiation of the compounds with the light of wavelength 313 nm were identified. The kinetic scheme for decomposition of the metal o-semiquinone complexes upon irradiation is suggested.     

Realization of four-level qudits using biphotons

The novel experimental realization of four-level optical quantum systems (ququarts) is presented. We exploit the polarization properties of the frequency nondegenerate biphoton field to obtain such systems. A simple method that does not rely on am interferometer is used to generate and measure the sequence of states that can be used in quantum key distribution protocol.     

EPR Studies of Reactions of Organobimetallic Chlorides with Sodium 3,6-Di-tert-butyl-ortho-benzosemiquinolate

The reactions of some organobimetallic chlorides [CpMo(CO)₃]₂BiCl, [CpM(CO)₃]₂SnCl₂, [CpMo(CO)₃]₂InCl ( = ⁵-C₅H₅; M = Mo, W) with sodium 3,6-di-tert-butyl-ortho-benzosemiquinolate in toluene were studied using the EPR spectroscopy. The possibility of formation of organoheterometallic complexes containing -semiquinone ligand was shown.     

Oxidation of Magnesium with Benzoyl Chloride in a Mixture of Tetrahydrofuran and Benzene

The kinetic features of magnesium oxidation with benzoyl chloride in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and benzene were studied. A reaction mechanism was suggested, involving attack of the oxidant molecule adsorbed on the metal surface by a similar molecule from the bulk of the solution.     

Kinetics of photolytic transformations of 4,4′-Bi(3-methyl-6-<Emphasis Type="Italic">tert</Emphasis>-butyl-<Emphasis Type="Italic">o</Emphasis>-benzoquinone)

The quantum yields and apparant rate constants of the photolysis of 4,4′-bi(3-methyl-6-tert-butyl-o-benzoquinone) and of accumulation of its transformation products in hydrocarbon solutions under the action of light with λ 313 and 405 nm were determined. 4-Hydroxyquinolones-2

Hydrazinolysis of 1-R-3-carbethoxy-4-hydroxyquinolones-2 was used to synthesize the corresponding hydrazides; thermal cyclodehydration of the latter yielded 3-oxopyrazolo-[4,3-c]-5-R-quinolones-4. Polarization of nondegenerate nonrelativistic neutron gas particles by a magnetic field

The occupation of energy subbands with the magnetic moments parallel and antiparallel to the direction of the magnetic field for a nondegenerate neutron system of a specified concentration is calculated in the framework of the statistical thermodynamics of equilibrium systems. The kinetic neutron energies for the two subbands as well as the total system energy with allowance made for Pauli paramagnetism are determined. Byelorussian State University, Brest State University. Two-photon interference in the presence of absorption

Experiments on two-photon interference are discussed in the case when there is absorption of all the modes participating in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) of light. The objects of investigation are 10-to 80-Å-thick ultrathin gold films deposited on fused-silica substrates. Conditions are determined under which the effect of absorption of the signal and pump waves on the interference pattern is small. It is shown that, under these conditions, the visibility of the interference pattern and the shape of the frequency-angular spectrum at the signal frequency are determined by the optical parameters of the medium at the idler frequency, which belongs to the near-infrared region.
