In magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of small animals, the gastrointestinal contents may give rise to intense signals on T1-weighted images. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal dietary preparation to reduce gastrointestinal signals in mice and to evaluate the usefulness of this approach. Images of the mouse trunk were obtained using a T1-weighted, three-dimensional fast low-angle shot sequence under various dietary conditions and were compared with respect to the gastrointestinal signals and image quality. The dietary preparation studied included giving alternative diets for 24 h, intestinal cleansing, and 6-h fasting. Mice with and without dietary preparation underwent MR lymphography using gadofluorine 8, and the visualization of abdominal lymph nodes was compared. In the absence of dietary preparation, hyperintense areas were conspicuous in the gastrointestinal system, whereas on the images taken from mice fed potato or sweet potato for 24 h before imaging, gastrointestinal hyperintensity was less prominent. This preparation also reduced artifactual signals and resulted in higher-quality images of the kidneys. Intestinal cleansing, which consisted of 24-h fasting and laxative intake, did not reduce the gastrointestinal signals and caused signal changes that were indicative of fatty liver development. Some of the abdominal lymph nodes of the mice that did not receive dietary preparation were visualized on MR lymphography source images but not on maximum intensity projection (MIP) images. In contrast, on the MIP images of mice fed potato, all the lymph nodes delineated on the source images were successfully visualized. In conclusion, feeding mice potato or sweet potato for 24 h before MR imaging reduces the gastrointestinal signals and image degradation due to artifacts. Appropriate dietary preparations facilitate the display of target structures on MIP images and are expected to enhance the capabilities of small animal MR imaging. 相似文献
We have investigated current transport property in Gd1Ba2Cu3O7−δ coated conductor with artificial pinning centers in a wide range of temperature, magnetic field, B up to 27 T, and field angle. Due to the additional c-axis correlated pins, critical current density, Jc in B//c was enhanced and the improvement was observed in wide range of B. On the other hand, around B⊥c below 65 K, the angular dependence of n-value showed a valley-like behavior, although the Jc was increasing. In addition, the temperature dependence of the pinning force density defined as Jc × B was not scaled on an expected master curve. These results indicate the pinning in B⊥c is governed by different mechanism below 65 K and high magnetic field. 相似文献
We have demonstrated efficient frequency doubling of high-energy fundamental Nd:YAG laser pulse energy of the multi-joule (J) level at a high repetition rate using high optical-quality top-seeded solution growth CsB3O5(TSSG-CBO) crystal for the first time. Second-harmonic (532 nm) generation (SHG) output energy of 1.2 J at 10 Hz is obtained with a conversion efficiency of 60%. This result has been obtained at the multi-J level by the growth of high optical-quality TSSG-CBO crystal with the large effective nonlinear coefficient and high damage threshold. These results indicate that TSSG-CBO is a good candidate material for high-energy SHG of Nd-doped lasers at the several J level or more with high repetition rate. 相似文献
The clinical presentation of inborn errors of pyrimidine degradation varies considerably from asymptomatic to severe neurological illness. We have reported a method to screen for and make a chemical diagnosis of beta-ureidopropionase deficiency, leading to the discovery of the first asymptomatic case of this disease. In this method, the recovery of beta-ureidopropionate and beta-ureidoisobutyrate, the key biomarkers, was very high, and the adoption of GC/MS and targeted analysis enabled us to simultaneously obtain information related and unrelated to pyrimidine metabolism. The present study reports the results of a large-scale screening of 24,000 newborns using dried urine on filter paper. Identification of a total of four asymptomatic patients among newborns suggests the high incidence (1/6000) of this disease in Japan. While these newborns were asymptomatic, two additional cases detected at the age of 5 years as well as 3 months with this method for high-risk screening had autism and West syndrome, respectively. The key biomarkers and alpha-ureidobutyrate used as an internal standard were found to give not only their di-trimethylsilyl derivatives but also tri-trimethylsilyl derivatives, upon derivatization. The mass spectra and retention times of their tri-trimethylsilyl derivatives and data handling for quantification of the markers are presented.Identification of individuals with defects in pyrimidine metabolism would realize personalized medication in cancer chemotherapy with pyrimidine analogs such as 5-fluorouracil. 相似文献
A novel polymeric electrolyte based on a self-assembled copolymer moiety has been prepared by a simple method of photo-induced radical polymerization of a mixture consisting of stearylmethacrylate (SMA) and poly(ethylene glycol)-monomethacrylate (PEM) that dissolves LiBF4 as the electrolytic salt. The SMA moiety work as mechanically stable backbone and the PEM unit dissolving the salts serves as ion-conducting path in the polymeric composite. Solid-state NMR measurements indicated that the resulting polymer composite consists of PEM-rich and SMA-rich phases, each of which exists within several nanometers apart. The ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte with the composition of PEM/SMA = 7/3 (by mass ratio) was 2.8 × 10?5 S cm?1 at 50 °C, which was significantly higher than that of the polymer electrolyte based on cross-linked PEM copolymer without SMA. 相似文献
Getting organized : Assemblies of ferromagnetic FePt nanoparticles were generated with large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by a magnetic‐field‐assisted layer‐by‐layer method, and subsequently layer‐by‐layer films consisting of L10‐FePt nanoparticles and organic polymers were prepared. These films are phototunable when photochromic molecules are used as polymer layers.
Regioselective, stereoselective : The convergent coupling of allylic alcohols with imines to deliver stereodefined homoallylic amines is described (see scheme). The process proceeds with net allylic transposition without the intermediacy of allylic organometallic reagents. Two stereodefined centers and a geometrically defined di‐ or trisubstituted alkene are forged with high selectivity.
