Snowman/confetti-shaped, micron-sized, monodisperse composite particles were prepared by seeded dispersion polymerizations of n-butyl methacrylate (nBMA) with 1.28 and 2.67 m-sized polystyrene (PS) seed particles, respectively, in an ethanol/water (80/20, w/w) medium. Summary Aqueous suspensions and emulsions stabilized solely by nonionic surfactant of the polyoxyethylene type are flocculated by adding polymeric acid (for example, poly-acrylic acid) and electrolyte (acid and neutral salts of polyvalent cations). This destabilization effect of polymeric acids is ascribed to the interaction between the polyacid and nonionic surfactant on the colloid particles. Some examples of the flocculation reaction are shown.

Poly(i-butyl methacrylate)-polystyrene block copolymer was successfully prepared in an aqueous medium by two-step atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), mini-emulsion- and seeded-ATRP, in which ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate/CuBr/4,4-dinonyl-2,2-dipyridyl initiator system was used. A novel in-needle extraction device has been developed for the preconcentration of gaseous organic compounds prior to the determination in gas chromatography (GC). As the extraction medium, a copolymer of methacrylic acid and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate was synthesized. Based on the results in the preliminary experiments, the desorption conditions such as desorption temperature and time have been optimized along with the evaluation of the extraction efficiency. The storage performance of the needle extraction device was also studied. The results clearly demonstrated the excellent extraction performance for typical organic solvents and also suggested the future possibility such as in the applications for the analysis of working environments. 相似文献

Silver-sheathed (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (Bi(2223)) tapes were fabricated by the “oxide-powder-in-tube” technique. After the tapes were shaped and sintered, an additional cold rolling and a re-sintering were applied in order to enhance the critical current density Jc. The influence of the additional rolling conditions (roll diameter, number of passes, lubrication) on the Jc (77 K, 0 T) was made clear. The influence of the sintering conditions (temperature, heating rate) on Jc was also investigated. As for the rolling conditions, a small redundant shear deformation or a small contact angle leads to a good grain alignment, texturing, and a higher Jc value. As for the temperature of the first sintering, 1113 K is superior to 1118 K because of the volume fraction of the Bi(2223) phase. 相似文献

Nanomedicine is considered a promising alternative to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment. Particularly, the use of nanoparticles (NPs) has enabled the encapsulation of highly toxic anticancer drugs, facilitated ultimate targeting, and allowed tailoring of drug delivery. However, when in biological fluids, these NPs are coated by proteins which hide the targeting moieties and suppress the engineered biological outcome. Herein, how the Ki-1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) can preserve its targetability through grafting on the surface of zwitterionic-functionalized nanoparticles, is unveiled. Zwitterions, known for their stealth ability, are used to minimize unspecific NPs protein adsorption and consequently maintain mAb functionality. In this work, Ki-1 mAb is used as it recognizes TNFRSF8 (CD30+) transmembrane protein overexpressed on CD30+ lymphoma cells such as L540 cells. While nonfunctionalized NPs show negligible toxic effects toward L540 cells, the Ki-1-functionalized structure demonstrates cytotoxicity, since they undergo cellular uptake, suggesting a receptor-mediated internalization. This dual-functionalization strategy provides a promising multifunctional nanoplatform toward future personalized medicine applications, minimizing unspecific protein adsorption on NPs and ensuring selective cancer cell targeting. 相似文献

Since its first application within the compact cassette in 1978, magnetic recording media using metal powder have been improved at a rate of roughly 1 dB per year as a result of advances in such fields as tape materials, tape-making technologies, etc. Today, metal tapes have a widely expanded application area, including video and data-information applications. Dowa Mining Co., Ltd., began its research regarding magnetic powder for recording media in 1978. The Company successfully developed metal powder for 8 mm video tape. Since then, Dowa has endeavored to improve the magnetic properties and reduce the particle size of metal powder. It accomplishes these goals through the full use of the Company's unique Al doping method. Especially, during the past several years, significant improvements of the magnetic properties of metal powder have been achieved. These improvements have resulted from the introduction of new technologies, including Fe–Co alloying, sintering prevention, new reaction processes, and many other new techniques. Currently, Dowa Mining is supplying a new type of metal powder for the most technologically advanced high-density recording media. For any tree Γ, we introduce Γ-cones consisting of chambers and enumerate the number of chambers contained in two particular (called principal) Γ-cones. The problem is equivalent to the combinatorial problem of the enumeration of linear extensions of two bipartite orderings on a tree Γ. We characterize the principal Γ-cones among other Γ-cones by the strict maximality of the number of their chambers, and give a formula for this maximal (called principal) number by a finite sum of hook length formulae. We explain the formula through the simplicial block decomposition of principal Γ-cones. Reversible color change of 4,6,7-tri(alkoxy-substituted phenyl)-1,2,5-thiadiazolo[3,4-c]pyridines 5 in the solid state was observed: on grinding, yellow crystals of 5 became an orange amorphous solid which, on heating or washing with an appropriate solvent, gave the original yellow crystals. 相似文献
