Synthesis of water-soluble C60-porphyrin hybrid compounds

Water-soluble C60-porphyrin hybrid molecules were first synthesized toward their pharmaceutical applications.     

Detection of multiple anions by thin-layer chromatography

A novel detection method for 21 different anions by thin-layer chromatography is presented. Anions on the target plate form salts with amine in a developing solvent and are visualized after staining with citric acid-acetic anhydride reagent as white spots contrasting against a pale red-pink background. This method has particularly high sensitivity for anions of chlorate, sulfate, phosphate, chromate and dichromate (0.02-0.05 microg). The method is demonstrated to efficiently detect toxic arsenite in curry sauce as an example application. The proposed method offers highly efficient indirect detection for a wide range of anions, and serves as a purification procedure for the preparation of anionic sample solutions for other analytical methods.     

Unusual regioselective intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction forming tricyclo[4.3.1.0(3,7)]decane system

The intramoleculae Diels-Alder reaction of cyclohexenone having an unsaturated ester side chain afforded tricyclo[4.3.1.0(3,7)]decanone in both a regio- and stereoselective manner under TMSCl-NEt(3)-ZnBr(2) conditions. Unexpectedly, the regiochemical control was against the conventional orbital requirement.     

Experimental examination of the hypothesis of local determinability in the plastic deformation of metals

Ilyushin's general plasticity theory expressed in a vector space corresponding to the deviatoric tensor space is available in formulating precise stress-strain relations of inelastic deformations by incorporating the deformation history of metals under complex loadings. In this case, the hypothesis of local determinability proposed by Lensky (1960) is useful for determining the explicit form of the stress-strain relation. In the present paper, the hypothesis is discussed by using not only data obtained by an experiment in which the history effect on the succeeding deformation is clearly estimated, but also data described in previous work. As the result, the hypothesis of local determinability has been confirmed to hold with high accuracy in every case.     

Dual mechanisms for the fragmentation of 1-benzoylbenzotriazole upon electron impact

The electron impact induced fragmentation of 1-benzoylbenzotriazole has been studied by ¹³C labelling experiments. It has been found that the loss of CO from the [M ? N₂]⁺˙ ions proceeds by two routes; about 78% of the ions decompose via the molecular ions of the corresponding thermal fragmentation product, 2-phenylbenzoxazole, and 22% via those of the corresponding photochemical fragmentation product, 6-phenanthridone.     

Time-space boundary elements for transient heat conduction problems

This paper is concerned with a generalized time-space boundary element formulation for transient heat conduction problems in anisotropic media. A weighted residual form of the governing equation is used to obtain the boundary integral equation in terms of the fundamental solution. The resulting boundary integral equation is discretized by means of a wide variety of boundary elements from constant-elements to higher-order isoparametric elements located both in time and space.
