Single quantum dots have been fabricated in single-wall carbon nanotubes and electrical transport properties have been measured at low temperature. Two- and four-electron periodicities have been clearly observed in the same sample in different gate voltage ranges. The former is an even–odd effect which originates from the spin degeneracy, while the latter is related to the additional two-fold band degeneracy. The results are discussed with the energy scales associated with the dot, and the possibility for a single spin manipulation is suggested.  相似文献

We report here the distinctive modifications of photoluminescence (PL) behaviors in single CdSe/ZnS/TOPO nanocrystals depending on their environments. Long-time traces of PL intensity from single nanocrystals have been obtained in both vacuum and a wet nitrogen atmosphere. While all of the nanocrystals in both environments exhibit PL blinking behaviors, i.e. on-off intermittency of PL intensity, as usual, some of the nanocrystals in the wet nitrogen atmosphere show significant increase in duration time of on-events. As for the duration time of blinking off-events, it is for the moment associated with the occasional events of carrier capturing at trap sites on or near the nanocrystal surfaces. We propose a model in which adsorbed water molecules at the trap sites on the nanocrystal surfaces transform them under light irradiation, which eventually decreases the occurrence of the trapping events due to their inactivation. It in turn increases the PL on-times. In addition to the drastic modification of the blinking profile, we also found that in the PL time traces some kinds of undulated behaviors, i.e. continuous and rather low frequency fluctuation of PL intensity, appear during each on-event in vacuum while they disappear totally in the wet nitrogen atmosphere. These results are also described on the basis of the inactivation model of the trap sites introduced above.  相似文献

Under a certain restriction, singular first-order linear partial differential equations of nilpotent type with two variables are divided into two classes. In the previous paper Part I, we dealt with the one class, and comprehended that there was a close affinity between the Borel summability of divergent solutions and global analytic continuation properties for coefficients. In this Part II, we give a similar consideration on the other class. More precise global estimates than those given in Part I for coefficients will be required to prove the Borel summability of divergent solutions.  相似文献

An improvement is made to an automatic quadrature due to Ninomiya (J. Inf. Process. 3:162–170, 1980) of adaptive type based on the Newton–Cotes rule by incorporating a doubly-adaptive algorithm due to Favati, Lotti and Romani (ACM Trans. Math. Softw. 17:207–217, 1991; ACM Trans. Math. Softw. 17:218–232, 1991). We compare the present method in performance with some others by using various test problems including Kahaner’s ones (Computation of numerical quadrature formulas. In: Rice, J.R. (ed.) A lanthanum (La) coprecipitation method with low sample consumption was explored for the preconcentration of oxo-anion forming elements prior to a measurement by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The preconcentration procedure was composed of two main steps: (1) the formation of a coprecipitate with the lowest possible La and (2) the redissolution of target analytes with minimal use of nitric acid, and the elimination of high concentration La from the analysis sample. Each step was performed in a 25 mL-volume syringe to reduce the sample consumption and to avoid contamination from the experimental environment. Various parameters, such as the concentration and volume of La added into the sample solution, the precipitation pH, the aging time, and the volume of HNO(3) were optimized to obtain good recoveries and high detection sensitivities for V, As, Sb, and W, which could be hardly recovered by solid-phase extraction using a chelating resin. The obtained method was evaluated through the analysis of seawater reference materials (CASS-4 and NASS-5). The recoveries exceeded 80%, and the observed values were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

A very simple method to synthesize densely distributed carbon nanofibers (CNFs) on flexible plastic substrates at room temperature with no catalyst is demonstrated. Carbon film was deposited onto polyimide, poly-ethylene-terephthalate (PET) films, Si plates and a Ni mesh, which were then sputtered with obliquely incident Ar+ ions at 3 keV at room temperature. Linear-shaped CNFs oriented in the incidence direction of the ion beam grew on the sputtered substrates, as confirmed by scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscopes (TEM). CNF growth on a PET substrate, which is a non-heat-tolerant plastic, has never been reported so far. CNFs thus grown were characterized as amorphous without a hollow structure. The diameter of CNFs was almost identical (20-30 nm) despite a large difference in CNF length (0.1-4 μm). In addition, the CNF-tipped cones were demonstrated to act successfully as a template to fabricate one dimensional (1-D) zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures on a PET substrate. Thus, it was believed that the ion-irradiation technique would open up a new approach to fabricate any kinds of 1-D nanomaterials on flexible substrates at room temperature.  相似文献
