Methods have been developed for the determination of vibrational frequencies and normal modes of large systems in the full conformational space (including all degrees of freedom) and in a reduced conformational space (reducing the number of degrees of freedom). The computational method, which includes Hessian generation and storage, full and iterative diagonalization techniques, and the refinement of the results, is presented. A method is given for the quasiharmonic analysis and the reduced basis quasiharmonic analysis. The underlying principle is that from the atomic fluctuations, an effective harmonic force field can be determined relative to the dynamic average structure. Normal mode analysis tools can be used to characterize quasiharmonic modes of vibration. These correspond to conventional normal modes except that anharmonic effects are included. Numerous techniques for the analyses of vibrational frequencies and normal modes are described. Criteria for the analysis of the similarity of low-frequency normal modes is presented. The approach to determining the natural frequencies and normal modes of vibration described here is general and applicable to any large system. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

    Fast capillary electrophoresis–mass spectrometry measurements under counter-electroosmotic analyte migration conditions are presented. Efficient separations of a homologous series of six hyaluronan oligosaccharides (comprising 1–6 hyalobiuronic acid moieties) could be completed in 65 s. Separations were achieved in short-length fused silica capillaries under high electric field strengths of up to 1.25 kV·cm−1. Capillary inner diameters ranging from 5 to 50 μm were investigated, resulting in an optimal value of 15 μm. The influence of capillary dimensions and buffer composition on separation efficiency and sensitivity are discussed. Optimal separations were achieved using a 28 cm × 15 μm capillary, a separation high voltage of 35 kV, a background electrolyte of 25 mM ammonium acetate adjusted to pH 8.5, and negative ionization mode. The optimized method was successfully applied to a bovine testicular hyaluronidase digest of hyaluronan. Only minimal sample pretreatment for protein-containing samples is required. The simple manual injection procedure and fast separations allow for a sample throughput of 35 samples per hour.  相似文献

    Poly(hexafluoropropylene oxide), poly(HFPO), networks were prepared from functional polymers by end linking via urethane groups. The prepolymers were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and GPC. The networks were characterized by determination of the number of network chains from the shear modulus, and were snown to contain both trifunctional crosslinks and difunctional links. The properties of the networks were investigated by a range of techniques. Compared with fully-fluorinated networks formed via triazine cross-links, investigated previously, the urethane-linked networks were more readily prepared but were poorer elastomers, were less thermally stable, and were less resistant to swelling by common polar solvents. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

    The energy spectra of two types of non-helical carbon nanotubes are investigated theoretically. It is shown that either the topological or the correlational contributions determine the width of the band gap. In some cases (for nanotubes with diameter < 1 nm) the electron correlation changes qualitatively the results for the width of the energy gap ΔE: if in the one-electron approximation the band width ΔE = 0, the contribution of the electron correlation becomes dominant and increases the band gap ΔE > 0. At small diameter of the nanotubes (D > 1 nm) the ground state of the tubes corresponds to semiconductors with moderate or narrow energy gap, while at D > 1 nm ΔE decreases monotonously. The energy spectra of the planar ribbon polymers are compared with those of the iso-electronic nanotubes.  相似文献

    The multiplicity of chemical structures of sulfur containing compounds, influenced in part by the element's several oxidation states, directly results in diverse modes of action for sulfur-containing natural products synthesized as secondary metabolites in plants. Sulfur-containing natural products constitute a formidable wall of defence against a wide range of pathogens and pests. Steady progress in the development of new technologies have advanced research in this area, helping to uncover the role of such important plant defence molecules like endogenously-released elemental sulphur, but also deepening current understanding of other better-studied compounds like the glucosinolates. As studies continue in this area, it is becoming increasingly evident that sulfur and sulfur compounds play far more important roles in plant defence than perhaps previously suspected.  相似文献

    Trigocherrin A, a chlorinated and highly oxygenated daphnane diterpenoid orthoester (DDO), was isolated from the bark of Trigonostemon cherrieri. Trigocherrin A is the first example of a naturally occurring halogenated DDO. Its structure was elucidated by comprehensive analysis of NMR spectroscopic data, and its absolute configuration was determined by comparison of experimental and theoretically calculated ECD spectra. Trigocherrin A exhibited a potent and selective effect against Chikungunya virus in Vero cells.  相似文献

    It is demonstrated that the near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) provides a powerful local probe of functional groups in novel charge transfer (CT) compounds and their electronic properties. Microcrystals of tetra-/hexamethoxypyrene as donors with the strong acceptor tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (TMP/HMP-TCNQ) were grown by vapor diffusion. The oxygen and nitrogen K-edge spectra are spectroscopic fingerprints of the functional groups in the donor and acceptor moieties, respectively. The orbital selectivity of the NEXAFS pre-edge resonances allows us to precisely elucidate the participation of specific orbitals in the charge transfer process. Upon complex formation, the intensities of several resonances change substantially and a new resonance occurs in the oxygen K-edge spectrum. This gives evidence of a corresponding change of hybridization of specific orbitals in the functional groups of the donor (those derived from the frontier orbitals 2e and 6a(1) of the isolated methoxy group) and acceptor (orbitals b(3g), a(u), b(1g), and b(2u), all located at the cyano group) with π*-orbitals of the ring systems. Along with this intensity effect, the resonance positions associated with the oxygen K-edge (donor) and nitrogen K-edge (acceptor) shift to higher and lower photon energies in the complex, respectively. A calculation based on density functional theory qualitatively explains the experimental results. NEXAFS measurements shine light on the action of the functional groups and elucidate charge transfer on a submolecular level.  相似文献
