Electrical resistance (R) measurements of a bulk La0.33Nd0.33Ca0.33MnO3 perovskite in magnetic fields up to 40 kOe have revealed anomalous temperature hysteretic effects both in 0 Oe and 20 kOe magnetic fields. The sharp peak observed in the R vs. T plot indicates the occurrence of metal-to-insulator (M-I) transition at a temperature of T MI=110 K and 140 K, for cooling and warming paths, respectively. An applied magnetic field of 20 kOe reduces the resistance and shifts T MI to 160 K and 185 K for cooling and warming, respectively. We have observed a much higher resistance in the cooling path than in the warming path leading to the hysteretic resistance ratio (R cool/R warm) of 200 at 110 K and 1.8 at 160 K for 0 Oe and 20 kOe, respectively. Record values of colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) have been achieved. The CMR value reaches nearly 99% in the temperature ranges of 90 K to 140 K and 90 K to 170 K for 20 kOe and 40 kOe magnetic fields in the cooling mode, respectively. The observed unusual behavior is attributed to the co-existence of La-rich and Nd-rich domains assumed to be distributed randomly in the compound.  相似文献

We have studied the peak effect (PE) phenomenon in single crystals of weakly pinned superconductors CeRu2 and 2H-NbS2. 2H-NbS2 is iso-structural and iso-electronic to 2H-NbSe2, whose similarity with CeRu2 as regards the PE representing the order-to-disorder transformation of the flux line lattice was claimed some time ago. We report on the step change in equilibrium magnetization across the peak effect in CeRu2. We also present the vortex phase diagram of 2H-NbS2 obtained from the magnetization data, and compare the PE phenomenon in 2H-NbS2 and 2H-NbSe2.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction exhibits a superstructure peak of krypton adsorbed on graphite, which shifts with coverage. Nevertheless variations in the intensities of the substrate peaks indicates registry. A model is given, grounded on polycrystallinity (antiphases) of krypton mono and bilayer still registered on graphite. The registered phase persists in our sample up to the filling of the bilayer contrary to other results. We think of it as a pinned phase.  相似文献

Molecular beacon DNA probes, containing 1-4 pyrene monomers on the 5' end and the quencher DABCYL on the 3' end, were engineered and employed for real-time probing of DNA sequences. In the absence of a target sequence, the multiple-pyrene labeled molecular beacons (MBs) assumed a stem-closed conformation resulting in quenching of the pyrene excimer fluorescence. In the presence of target, the beacons switched to a stem-open conformation, which separated the pyrene label from the quencher molecule and generated an excimer emission signal proportional to the target concentration. Steady-state fluorescence assays resulted in a subnanomolar limit of detection in buffer, whereas time-resolved signaling enabled low-nanomolar target detection in cell-growth media. It was found that the excimer emission intensity could be scaled by increasing the number of pyrene monomers conjugated to the 5' terminal. Each additional pyrene monomer resulted in substantial increases in the excimer emission intensities, quantum yields, and excited-state lifetimes of the hybridized MBs. The long fluorescence lifetime ( approximately 40 ns), large Stokes shift (130 nm), and tunable intensity of the excimer make this multiple-pyrene moiety a useful alternative to traditional fluorophore labeling in nucleic acid probes.  相似文献

In the presence of Na(+) ions, two N(2)-modified guanosine derivatives, N(2)-(4-n-butylphenyl)-2',3',5'-O-triacetylguanosine (G1) and N(2)-(4-pyrenylphenyl)-2',3',5'-O-triacetylguanosine (G2), are found to self-associate into discrete octamers that contain two G-quartets and a central ion. In each octamer, all eight guanosine molecules are in a syn conformation and the two G-quartets are stacked in a tail-to-tail fashion. On the basis of NMR spectroscopic evidence, we hypothesize that the pi-pi-stacking interaction between the N(2)-side arms (phenyl in G1 and pyrenyl in G2) can considerably stabilize the octamer structure. For G1, we have used NMR spectroscopic saturation-transfer experiments to monitor the kinetic ligand exchange process between monomers and octamers in CD(3)CN. The results show that the activation energy (E(a)) of the ligand exchange process is 31 +/-5 kJ mol(-1). An Eyring analysis of the saturation transfer data yields the enthalpy and entropy of activation for the transition state: DeltaH(not =)=29 +/-5 kJ mol(-1) and DeltaS(not =)=-151 +/-10 J mol(-1) K(-1). These results are consistent with an associative mechanism for ligand exchange.  相似文献

Epitaxial orthorhombic YMnO3 thin films, (0 0 1) oriented, have been grown by pulsed laser deposition on (0 0 1)SrTiO3 substrates. Their crystal structure and magnetic response have been studied in detail. Although bulk o-YMnO3 is antiferromagnetic, our magnetic measurements reveal intriguing thermal hysteresis between the zero-field-cooled and field-cooled curves below the onset of the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature, thus signaling a more complex magnetic structure with net ferromagnetic moments. We discuss on the possible origin of this net magnetization and we have found a correlation of the magnetic response with the strain state of the films. We propose that substrate-induced strain modifies the subtle competition of magnetic interactions and leads to a non-collinear magnetic state that can thus be tuned by strain engineering.  相似文献

Thermal treatments are widely applied to gluten-free (GF) flours to change their functionality. Despite the interest in using pulses in GF formulations, the effects of thermal treatment at the molecular level and their relationship with dough rheology have not been fully addressed. Raw and heat-treated red lentils were tested for starch and protein features. Interactions with water were assessed by thermogravimetric analysis and water-holding capacity. Finally, mixing properties were investigated. The thermal treatment of red lentils induced a structural modification of both starch and proteins. In the case of starch, such changes consequently affected the kinetics of gelatinization. Flour treatment increased the temperature required for gelatinization, and led to an increased viscosity during both gelatinization and retrogradation. Regarding proteins, heat treatment promoted the formation of aggregates, mainly stabilized by hydrophobic interactions between (partially) unfolded proteins. Overall, the structural modifications of starch and proteins enhanced the hydration properties of the dough, resulting in increased consistency during mixing.  相似文献
