Vibrational relaxation of the 6(1) level of S(1)((1)B(2u)) benzene is analyzed using the angular momentum model of inelastic processes. Momentum-(rotational) angular momentum diagrams illustrate energetic and angular momentum constraints on the disposal of released energy and the effect of collision partner on resultant benzene rotational excitation. A kinematic "equivalent rotor" model is introduced that allows quantitative prediction of rotational distributions from inelastic collisions in polyatomic molecules. The method was tested by predicting K-state distributions in glyoxal-Ne as well as J-state distributions in rotationally inelastic acetylene-He collisions before being used to predict J and K distributions from vibrational relaxation of 6(1) benzene by H(2), D(2), and CH(4). Diagrammatic methods and calculations illustrate changes resulting from simultaneous collision partner excitation, a particularly effective mechanism in p-H(2) where some 70% of the available 6(1)-->0(0) energy may be disposed into 0-->2 rotation. These results support the explanation for branching ratios in 6(1)-->0(0) relaxation given by Waclawik and Lawrance and the absence of this pathway for monatomic partners. Collision-induced vibrational relaxation in molecules represents competition between the magnitude of the energy gap of a potential transition and the ability of the colliding species to generate the angular momentum (rotational and orbital) needed for the transition to proceed. Transition probability falls rapidly as DeltaJ increases and for a given molecule-collision partner pair will provide a limit to the gap that may be bridged. Energy constraints increase as collision partner mass increases, an effect that is amplified when J(i)>0. Large energy gaps are most effectively bridged using light collision partners. For efficient vibrational relaxation in polyatomics an additional requirement is that the molecular motion of the mode must be capable of generating molecular rotation on contact with the collision partner in order to meet the angular momentum requirements. We postulate that this may account for some of the striking propensities that characterize polyatomic energy transfer.  相似文献

We have established an easy-to-use test system for detecting receptor-ligand interactions on the single molecule level using atomic force microscopy (AFM). For this, avidin-biotin, probably the best characterized receptor-ligand pair, was chosen. AFM sensors were prepared containing tethered biotin molecules at sufficiently low surface concentrations appropriate for single molecule studies. A biotin tether, consisting of a 6 nm poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chain and a functional succinimide group at the other end, was newly synthesized and covalently coupled to amine-functionalized AFM tips. In particular, PEG800 diamine was glutarylated, the mono-adduct NH2-PEG-COOH was isolated by ion exchange chromatography and reacted with biotin succinimidylester to give biotin-PEG-COOH which was then activated as N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester to give the biotin-PEG-NHS conjugate which was coupled to the aminofunctionalized AFM tip. The motional freedom provided by PEG allows for free rotation of the biotin molecule on the AFM sensor and for specific binding to avidin which had been adsorbed to mica surfaces via electrostatic interactions. Specific avidin-biotin recognition events were discriminated from nonspecific tip-mica adhesion by their typical unbinding force (∼40 pN at 1.4 nN/s loading rate), unbinding length (<13 nm), the characteristic nonlinear force-distance relation of the PEG linker, and by specific block with excess of free d-biotin. The convenience of the test system allowed to evaluate, and compare, different methods and conditions of tip aminofunctionalization with respect to specific binding and nonspecific adhesion. It is concluded that this system is well suited as calibration or start-up kit for single molecule recognition force microscopy.  相似文献

The collision-induced dissociation (CID) mass spectra of protonated cocaine and protonated heroin have been measured using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer at 50 eV ion/neutral collision energy for protonated molecules prepared by different protonating agents. The CID mass spectra of protonated cocaine using H+(H2O)n, H+(NH3)n and H+((CH3)2NH)n as protonating agents are essentially identical and it is concluded that, regardless of the initial site of protonation, the fragmentation reactions occurring on collisional activation are identical. By contrast, protonated heorin prepared with H+(H2O)n and H+(NH3)n as protonating agents show substantial differences. That formed by reaction of H+(H2O)n shows a much more abundant peak corresponding to loss of CH3CO2H. From a comparison with model compounds, and from a consideration of the three-dimensional structure of heroin, it is concluded that with H+(H2O)n as protonating agent significant protonation occurs at the acetate group attached to the alicyclic ring, leading to acetic acid loss on collisional activation, but that reaction of H+(NH3)n leads to protonation at the nitrogen function. The proton attached to nitrogen cannot interact with the acetate group and, consequently, the probability of loss of acetic acid on collislional activation is greatly reduced.  相似文献

The one-center expansion (OCE ) method is extended to evaluate molecular wave functions for molecules with heavy off-center nuclei. This extension is achieved through the use of model potentials (MP ) to approximate the highly bound core orbitals. The remaining diffuse valence charge distribution is then rather easy to simulate using OCE . The formulation of the method is described. New molecular integrals are solved to a high degree of accuracy. Successful results are reported for H2O, H2S, and N2. The valence electron distributions and orbital energies are in good agreement with those obtained from more complete calculations. The method combines the computational economy of both OCE and MP procedures, resulting in a potentially useful package for further chemical applications.  相似文献

An aqua regia extraction procedure for heavy metals in soils optimised for total reflection X-ray fluorescence analysis is presented. The procedure is applied to 92 soil samples of medieval layers from the city area of Dortmund. Sixteen elements (P, S, K, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Ag, Sn, and Pb) were used to characterise 17 sample sites. The results are projected onto the medieval urban structure of Dortmund. Two sites loaded with non-ferrous heavy metal could be detected and correlated with archaeological data. The efficiency and repeatability of the proposed extraction procedure is discussed.  相似文献

cis-Bis-homoleptic platinum(II) complexes, with predetermined helical chirality at the metal center, can be obtained by using strongly sterically interacting ligands. With this aim, two new ligands, (8R,10R)-2-(2'-thienyl)-4,5-pinenopyridine, th4,5ppy (2), and (8R,10R)-2-(2'-thienyl)-5,6-pinenopyridine, th5,6ppy (4), were synthesized and coordinated to platinum. The structures of the resulting complexes, Pt(th4,5ppy)(2) (5) and Pt(th5,6ppy)(2) (6), were determined by X-ray diffraction, and it was found that they both crystallize with a Delta-cis configuration. Thermal oxidative additions (TOA) of alkyl halides were performed with both complexes leading, in the case of 5, to a mixture of isomers and, in the case of 6, to isomerically pure products. The predetermination of chirality at the metal center is therefore preserved in the octahedral (OC-6) platinum(IV) complexes. Crystals of Pt(th4,5ppy)(2) (5) are orthorhombic, of space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with a = 12.973(1) ?, b = 13.619(2) ?, c = 17.665(2) ?, alpha = beta = gamma = 90 degrees, and Z = 4. Final R = 0.0268 and R(w) = 0.0424 for 3101 observed reflections. Crystals of Pt(th5,6ppy)(2) (6) are hexagonal, of space group P6(1), with a = 11.5465(4) ?, b = 11.5465(4) ?, c = 35.356(3) ?, alpha = beta = 90 degrees, gamma = 120 degrees, and Z = 6. Final R = 0.0424 and R(w) = 0.0845 for 2660 observed reflections. Neither molecule possesses a crystallographic C(2) symmetry.  相似文献

We consider information-theoretic bounds on the expected generalization error for statistical learning problems in a network setting. In this setting, there are K nodes, each with its own independent dataset, and the models from the K nodes have to be aggregated into a final centralized model. We consider both simple averaging of the models as well as more complicated multi-round algorithms. We give upper bounds on the expected generalization error for a variety of problems, such as those with Bregman divergence or Lipschitz continuous losses, that demonstrate an improved dependence of 1/K on the number of nodes. These “per node” bounds are in terms of the mutual information between the training dataset and the trained weights at each node and are therefore useful in describing the generalization properties inherent to having communication or privacy constraints at each node.  相似文献

Heavy metals and metalloids like cadmium, arsenic, mercury, and lead are frequently found in the soil, water, food, and atmosphere; trace amounts can cause serious health issues to the human organism. These toxic trace elements (TTE) affect almost all the organs, mainly the heart, kidney, liver, lungs, and the nervous system, through increased free radical formation, DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, and protein sulfhydryl depletion. This work aims to advance our understanding of the mechanisms behind lipid accumulation via increased free fatty acid levels in circulation due to TTEs. The increased lipid level in the myocardium worsens the heart function. This dysregulation of the lipid metabolism leads to damage in the structure of the myocardium, inclusive fibrosis in cardiac tissue, myocyte apoptosis, and decreased contractility due to mitochondrial dysfunction. Additionally, it is discussed herein how exposure to cadmium decreases the heart rate, contractile tension, the conductivity of the atrioventricular node, and coronary flow rate. Arsenic may induce atherosclerosis by increasing platelet aggregation and reducing fibrinolysis, as exposure interferes with apolipoprotein (Apo) levels, resulting in the rise of the Apo-B/Apo-A1 ratio and an elevated risk of acute cardiovascular events. Concerning mercury and lead, these toxicants can cause hypertension, myocardial infarction, and carotid atherosclerosis, in association with the generation of free radicals and oxidative stress. This review offers a complete overview of the critical factors and biomarkers of lipid and TTE-induced cardiotoxicity useful for developing future protective interventions.  相似文献

Hydrogen-atom (H-atom) transfer at the surface of heterogeneous metal oxides has received significant attention owing to its relevance in energy conversion and storage processes. Here, we present the synthesis and characterization of an organofunctionalized polyoxovanadate cluster, (calix)V6O5(OH2)(OMe)8 (calix = 4-tert-butylcalix[4]arene). Through a series of equilibrium studies, we establish the BDFE(O–H)avg of the aquo ligand as 62.4 ± 0.2 kcal mol−1, indicating substantial bond weaking of water upon coordination to the cluster surface. Subsequent kinetic isotope effect studies and Eyring analysis indicate the mechanism by which the hydrogenation of organic substrates occurs proceeds through a concerted proton–electron transfer from the aquo ligand. Atomistic resolution of surface reactivity presents a novel route of hydrogenation reactivity from metal oxide surfaces through H-atom transfer from surface-bound water molecules.

We present the analysis of a nonlinear controlsystem that is used to excite and maintain a specified amplitude ofoscillation in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory vibratory gyroscope.This experimental application shows that nonlinear localizationthrough active means can be implemented in a practical system when itis desirable to confine the response to a favorable mode. Theclosed-loop system response predicted by the model shows very closeagreement with the experimental results for a significant range ofcontroller parameters. We also experimentally demonstrate that theactively localized motion is eliminated through bifurcation, similarto what was observed in previous passive localization studies appliedto extended flexible oscillators.  相似文献
