Peculiar field-dependent magnetic behavior of cyano-bridged coordination polymer Er(H2O)4[W(CN)8

The two-dimensional cyano-bridged coordination polymer Er(H(2)O)(4)[W(CN)(8)] exhibits a magnetic transition at 12 K and an unusual field-dependent transition from short-range to ferromagnetic ordering.     

Decarboxylative Amination of SMAHOs by Dialkyl Azodicarboxylates

The decarboxylative addition of substituted malonic acid half oxyesters (SMAHOs) to dialkyl azodicarboxylates is described. The reaction was promoted by 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) as an organocatalyst in heated toluene. High yields of the coupling products were generally obtained, and the scope of the reaction proved rather important with the potential presence of functionalized side chains at the α-position, affording an original access to α-aminoester derivatives.     

A New Furostanol Saponin from the Water-extract of Dioscorea nipponica Mak., the Raw Material of the Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine Wei Ao Xin

26-O-β-D-Glucopyranosyl-furost-5(6),20(22)-dien-3β,26-diol 1, a new furostanol saponin, was isolated from the water-extract of Dioscorea nipponica Mak., the raw material of a traditional Chinese herbal medicine Wei Ao Xin. The structure of 1 was determined on the basis of its spectral data especially by NMR spectroscopy. The result provides the first example of naturally occurring furostanol saponins with a single saccharide chain at the C-26 position.     

Phosphorus cluster production by laser ablation

Neutral and charged phosphorus clusters of a wide size range have been produced by pulsed laser ablation (PLA) in vacuum at 532, 337, and 193 nm ablating wavelengths and investigated by time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The neutral P_n clusters are even-numbered with local abundance maxima at n=10 and 14, while the cationic and anionic clusters are preferentially odd-numbered with P₇⁺, P₂₁⁺, and P₁₇^- being the most abundant ions. The dominance of the magic clusters is more pronounced at 337-nm ablation that is explained by efficient direct ejection of their building blocks under these conditions. Inframolecular protonation process of norbadione A: influence of the ionic environment and stereochemical consequences

The microscopic protonation mechanism, at an inframolecular level, of norbadione A, a pigment extracted from mushrooms and known to complex cesium cations, was determined by using 1H NMR titrations and the cluster expansion method. This study revealed a pH dependent Z to E isomer switch that occurs in both pulvinic moieties. As a consequence, norbadione A can exist in solution in four stereomeric forms (E-E, E-Z, Z-E, and Z-Z), which can be of interest in the development of molecular-level devices. In the presence of 0.15 M NaCl, the calculated microconstants showed an unusual apparent cooperativity between the enol groups, which results from the release of the sodium cations upon protonation of norbadione A.     

Synthesis and biological evaluation of isoflavone analogues from Dalbergia oliveri

Mucronulatol 1 and violanone 2 isolated from Dalbergia oliveri Gamble, and the corresponding isoflavone 3 were prepared by ligand coupling reactions involving organolead reagent. Biological studies have shown a significant cytotoxic effect against an HBL100 leukemia cell line only for isoflavan 1 with an IC₅₀ value amounting to 5.7 μM. All the drugs modestly inhibit the in vitro microtubule assembly, independently of the cytotoxic ability. Natural compounds 1 and 2 have no antibacterial activity, but are potent inhibitors of the Fusarium oxysporum phytopathogenic fungal growth.

Synthesis,Biological Evaluation,and Crystallographic Studies of Extended Guanine‐Based (lin‐Benzoguanine) Inhibitors for tRNA‐Guanine Transglycosylase (TGT)

This paper describes the rational design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of a new generation of inhibitors of the bacterial enzyme tRNA‐guanine transglycosylase (TGT), which has been identified as a new target in the fight against bacillary dysentery (Shigellosis). The enzyme catalyzes the exchange of guanine in the anticodon wobble position of tRNA by the modified base preQ₁, a guanine derivative, according to a ping‐pong mechanism involving a covalent TGT‐tRNA intermediate (Fig. 2). Based on computer modeling (Fig. 3), lin‐benzoguanine (6‐aminoimidazol[4,5‐g]quinazolin‐8(7H)‐one ( 2 )) was selected as an extended central scaffold, to form up to seven in‐plane intermolecular H‐bonds with the protein while sandwiching between Tyr106 and Met260. Versatile synthetic protocols were developed for the synthesis of 2 , and derivatives with phenyl, benzyl, and 2‐phenylethyl side chains (i.e., 16, 17a , and 12a, 12b, 13, 17 , resp.) to reach into the lipophilic pocket lined by Val282, Val45, and Leu68 (Schemes 1–3). To account for the limited solubility of the new ligands and in consequence of a recently developed detailed understanding of the mechanism of TGT catalysis (Fig. 2), the enzyme kinetic assay was completely redesigned, providing competitive (K_ic) and uncompetitive (K_iu) inhibition constants with respect to tRNA binding by TGT. The modifications of the various parameters in the new assay are described in detail. Binding affinities of the new inhibitors were found to be in the single‐digit micromolar range (K_ic values, Fig. 8). Decoration of the lin‐benzoguanine scaffold with lipophilic residues only gave a modest improvement in biological activity which was explained on structural grounds with the help of four crystal structures (Fig. 10) obtained by soaking the protein with inhibitors 2 and 12a – 12c . Both biochemical and biostructural analyses reported in this paper provide a fertile basis for the development of more potent future generations of TGT inhibitors.     

碳酸盐碳,氧稳定同位素微量测试方法的研究

本文简要叙述了微量碳酸盐样品碳，氧稳定同位素测试对于古海洋学研究的重要性，着重介绍了该方法的原理，制样过程以及质谱测量，同时还介绍了微量测试几个方面的试验工作，并对影响微量测试的几种因素进行了探讨。     

A New Cyclic Bisdesmoside from Tubers of Bolbostemma paniculatum

The structure of tubeimoside V (1), a new cyclic bisdesmoside, isolated from tubers of Bolbostemma paniculatum (Tu Bei Mu), was established by means of 2D NMR spectral and chemical methods. Compound 1 has inter-saccharide chain bridging by a dicrotalic acid to form aunique macrocyclic structure.
