This paper describes the most important articles that have been published on amino acid analysis using CE during the period from June 2009 to May 2011 and follows the format of the previous articles of Smith (Electrophoresis 1999, 20, 3078-3083), Prata et al. (Electrophoresis 2001, 22, 4129-4138) and Poinsot et al. (Electrophoresis 2003, 24, 4047-4062; Electrophoresis 2006, 27, 176-194; Electrophoresis 2008, 29, 207-223; Electrophoresis 2010, 31, 105-121). We present new developments in amino acid analysis with CE, which are reported describing the use of lasers or light emitting diodes for fluorescence detection, conductimetry electrochemiluminescence detectors, mass spectrometry applications, and lab-on-a-chip applications using CE. In addition, we describe articles concerning clinical studies and neurochemical applications of these techniques.  相似文献

In December 2005 construction work was started to replace a harbor wall in Kerteminde harbor, Denmark. A total of 175 wooden piles were piled into the ground at the waters edge over a period of 3 months. During the same period three harbor porpoises were housed in a marine mammal facility on the opposite side of the harbor. All animals showed strong avoidance reactions after the start of the piling activities. As a measure to reduce the sound exposure for the animals an air bubble curtain was constructed and operated in a direct path between the piling site and the opening of the animals' semi-natural pool. The sound attenuation effect achieved with this system was determined by quantitative comparison of pile driving impulses simultaneously measured in front of and behind the active air bubble curtain. Mean levels of sound attenuation over a sequence of 95 consecutive pile strikes were 14 dB (standard deviation (s.d.) 3.4 dB) for peak to peak values and 13 dB (s.d. 2.5 dB) for SEL values. As soon as the air bubble curtain was installed and operated, no further avoidance reactions of the animals to the piling activities were apparent.  相似文献

Quantitative decision support on personnel planning is often restricted to either rostering or staffing. There exist some approaches in which aspects at the staffing level and the rostering level are treated in a sequential way. Obviously, such practice risks producing suboptimal solutions at both decision levels. These arguments justify an integrated approach towards improving the overall quality of personnel planning. This contribution constitutes (1) the introduction of the roster quality staffing problem and (2) a three-step methodology that enables assessing the appropriateness of a personnel structure for achieving high quality rosters, while relying on an existing rostering algorithm. Based on the rostering assessment result, specific modifications to the personnel structure can be suggested at the staffing level. The approach is demonstrated by means of two different hospital cases, which have it that they are subject to complex rostering constraints. Experimental results show that the three-step methodology indeed points out alternative personnel structures that better comply with the rostering requirements. The roster analysis approach and the corresponding staffing recommendations integrate personnel planning needs at operational and tactical levels.  相似文献

Self-assembly of a covalently-bound lipophilic drug to a dendronic scaffold for making organic nanoparticles is reported as a proof of concept in nanovectorization. A minimalist structural approach with a small PEG-dendron conjugated to paclitaxel (PTX), incorporating safe succinic and gallic acids, is efficient to provide the expected anticancer bioactivity, but also significantly retards and targets intracellular delivery of PTX in 2D and 3D lung cancer cell cultures. A branching effect of dendrons is crucial, when compared to linear PTX conjugates. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light-scattering (DLS) studies indicate the formation of stable, low-disperse nanoparticles at 10−5 m in H20, which could also be responsible for the biological effects. An ultrasensitive LC-MS/MS method was used for the determination of intracellular PTX concentration over time, along with the survival rates of cancer cells. Similarly, cell survival assays were successfully correlated to a 3D cell culture with spheroids for mimicking tumors, when treated with PTX conjugates. Our work opens the way to a full evaluation program required for new chemical entities.  相似文献

The auditory brainstem response (ABR) response to simulated echolocation clicks was studied in a harbor porpoise, Phocoena phocoena, to determine the relationship between the animal's perceived echo strength and the simulated target distance. In one experiment the click level at the listening post was kept constant while delay was changed, in another, the level was varied to approximate spreading losses. Results of both experiments indicate that there is no automatic gain control in the hearing system of this harbor porpoise.  相似文献

Ultrahigh-field 27Al MAS and MQMAS NMR and 129Xe NMR were used to characterize the zeolite-coated SBA-15 materials. This study shows evidence that zeolite nanoclusters are coated on the mesopore surface of SBA-15. These techniques are useful for the detection of zeolite nanoclusters and different aluminum environments in zeolite/aluminosilicate composites, which are difficult or even impossible to detect by conventional techniques.  相似文献

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a devastating illness characterized by accumulation of uremic retention solutes in the body. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a simple, rapid, and robust UPLC–MS–MS method for simultaneous determination, in serum, of seven organic acid uremic retention toxins, namely uric acid (UA), hippuric acid (HA), indoxylsulfate (IS), p-cresylglucuronide (pCG), p-cresylsulfate (pCS), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), and 3-carboxy-4-methyl-5-propyl-2-furanpropionic acid (CMPF). Isotopically labeled internal standards (d5-HA; 1,3-15N2-UA, and d5-IAA) were used to correct for variations in sample preparation and system performance. Separation on a C18 column was followed by negative electrospray ionization and tandem mass spectrometric detection. Accuracy was below the 15 % threshold. Within-day precision varied from 0.60 to 4.54 % and between-day precision was below 13.33 % for all compounds. The applicability of the method was evaluated by analyzing 78 serum samples originating both from healthy controls and from patients at different stages of CKD. These results were compared with those obtained by use of conventional HPLC–PDA–FLD methods. A good correlation was obtained between both methods for all compounds.  相似文献

We demonstrate theoretically the existence of a linear dc Stark shift of the individual substates of an alkali atom in its ground state, dressed by a circularly polarized laser field. It arises from the electroweak nuclear anapole moment violating P but not T. It is characterized by the pseudoscalar xi k wedge E x B involving the photon angular momentum and static electric and magnetic fields. We derive the relevant left-right asymmetry with its complete signature in a field configuration selected for a precision measurement with cold-atom beams. The 3, 3 --> 4, 3 Cs transition frequency shift amounts to 7 microHz for a laser power of approximately 1 kW at 877 nm, E=100 kV/cm and B approximately > 0.5 G.  相似文献
