Über einige neue Bispirane

We have obtained four new bispirane systems in which both spiroatoms are vicinal atoms in cyclopropane or cyclobutane rings and in which the heterocyclic component has the basic structure of 1,4-dioxep-2-ene. We have shown that from two possibilities (bispiran, propellan) the general reaction leads only to a bispiran system. To the bispiran2 exhibiting the highest hyperchromism we ascribed the bispirocoplanar conformation (Fig. 1).

A kinetic approach to homogeneous Ziegler type polymerization. Steady state

In this paper we present a kinetic approach to the analysis of steady-state homogeneous Ziegler-Natta polymerization activity data. The influence of the number of monomeric species that are coordinated to the active site on the apparent rate law is discussed and the equations are fitted to the experimental results.

LIGHT-INDUCED CHEMOTACTIC REACTIONS IN THE DINOFLAGELLATE, Peridiniopsis berolinensis

Abstract The photosensitizer riboflavin induces accumulation of the colorless flagellate Peridiniopsis berolinensis in a light field at low photon fluence rates but dispersal from a light field at high photon fluence rates. The wavelength dependence of the accumulation resembles the absorption spectrum of riboflavin in the visible range. The photodynamic effects are caused by a positive or negative chemotactic response to photoproducts in the medium which are produced by photochemical reactions of the dye.     

Eptastigmine,nicotinamide and nicotinic acid determination using an inhibition enzyme sensor; application to pharmaceutical analysis

An enzyme inhibition biosensor, developed in our laboratory and previously used for the analysis of compounds with anticholinesterase activity (e.g. physostigmine, neostigmine, pyridostigmine nicotine and organophosphorus compounds) has now been tested for the analysis of another recently synthesized cholinesterase inhibitor, i.e. eptastigmine. In addition nicotinic acid and nicotinamide, although displaying weaker inhibition properties, were also tested in pharmaceutical products using the same inhibition enzyme sensor. The biosensor consisted of a hydrogen peroxide amperometric electrode coupled to a functionalised nylon membrane chemically bonding both the enzymes butyrylcholinesterase and choline oxidase; a butyrylcholine standard solution in glycine buffer acted as substrate. The response of the system to all the inhibitors considered was characterised completely and the analysis of several pharmaceutical formulations containing nicotinamide or nicotinic acid was also performed.     

Harmonic oscillator tensors in contact transformation theory

The application of contact transformation theory to the perturbed harmonic oscillator is reexamined in the light of the harmonic oscillator tensors previously presented. It is found that the recasting of the formalism of this problem in terms of harmonic oscillator tensors results in great simplifications, most of which stem from the introduction of the additional algebraic quantum numbers (l, m). The order of magnitude of each fragment of the Hamiltonian is easily recognizable, and the diagonal and nondiagonal parts contained therein are readily identifiable. The determination of the contact transformation operator is reduced to a simple formula. First, an analysis is made for a single mode of vibration, and it is subsequently extended to a multimode case. The perturbed diatomic vibrator is presented as an example.     

Heterocyclen aus α-nitroolefinen. XI . 1,2-oxazine aus α-nitroolefinen und β-dicarbonylverbindungen

Dihydro-1,2-oxazines 8 and 12-oxazines 12 are formed by the reaction of the nitronic acids of the adducts of α-nitroolefins and β-dicarbonyl compounds ( 6 ) by two ways: A ) The nitronic acids 6 are heated in a boiling solution of urea in ethanol or methanol. B ) The nitronic acids 6 are reduced with an aqueous solution of ammoniachloride and sodium sulfide. ¹H-nmr and ¹³C-nmr investigations prove the constitutions. The mechanism is discussed.     

Bia-amperometric quantification of salbutamol in pharmaceutical products

This paper presents a simple, rapid and reproducible method of analysis of salbutamol in pharmaceutical products, utilizing batch injection analysis (BIA) associated with amperometric detection. A study of salbutamol oxidation demonstrated a strong dependence between electrode fouling and pH. All determinations were done utilizing a glassy carbon electrode in presence of 3.0 mol l⁻¹ NaOH. A large linear dynamic range from 8×10⁻⁷ to 2×10⁻⁴ mol l⁻¹ was obtained by using an injected volume of 100 μl with a detection limit of 2.5×10⁻⁷ mol l⁻¹. R.S.D. of 0.92% for 50 successive injections of 4×10⁻⁶ mol l⁻¹ of salbutamol and a sample throughput of 60 samples per hour were achieved. The method was applied for salbutamol quantification in syrups.     

Multilayer sol-gel membranes for optical sensing applications: single layer pH and dual layer CO(2) and NH(3) sensors

Organo-silica sol-gel membranes have been prepared and demonstrated in a single layer format for pH measurement and multiple-layer format for both carbon dioxide and ammonia. The sensors are simple and versatile since the same chemistry and membranes are used for each sensor. The sensors use hydroxypyrenetrisulfonic acid (HPTS) as the indicator immobilized in a base-catalyzed sol-gel containing poly(dimethyl)siloxane, aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). This indicator gel is over coated with a hydrophobic sol-gel to reduce cross reactivity to pH when either CO(2) or NH(3) are examined. The gels are very stable and the sensors retain response up to a 12-month period. Sensors can be stored in buffer or dry without loss of function and have response times to that are comparable to literature values.
