Background  

Hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) belongs to a polypeptide family containing five additional members called HDGF related proteins 1–4 (HRP-1 to -4) and Lens epithelial derived growth factor. Whereas some family members such as HDGF and HRP-2 are expressed in a wide range of tissues, the expression of others is very restricted. HRP-1 and -4 are only expressed in testis, HRP-3 only in the nervous system. Here we investigated the expression of HDGF, HRP-2 and HRP-3 in the central nervous system of adult mice on the cellular level by immunohistochemistry. In addition we performed Western blot analysis of various brain regions as well as neuronal and glial cell cultures.  相似文献

Vermiculite of general formula [Si6.85Al1.15][Mg4.68Al0.51Fe0.63]O20(OH)4Ca0.128Na0.032K0.094 reacted with heteroaromatic amines α-, β-, and γ-picolines from aqueous solution. The products were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The intercalated nanocompounds maintained the crystallinity and changed the original interlayer distance of 1422 pm to 1474, 1456, and 1474 pm, for the sequence of the guest picoline molecules. Natural and intercalated vermiculite can remove copper at the solid/liquid interface; removal 0.40 mmol g−1 was obtained for the original matrix, and 1.10, 0.92, and 1.33 mmol g−1 for the intercalated forms. These values are near the capacity of cation exchange (CEC) of this clay mineral, which can be possibly used as source of copper removal from aqueous solution.  相似文献

GaN is grown on Si-face 4H-SiC(0 0 0 1) substrates using remote plasma-assisted methods including metalorganic chemical vapour deposition (RP-MOCVD) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Real time spectroscopic ellipsometry is used for monitoring all the steps of substrate pre-treatments and the heteroepitaxial growth of GaN on SiC. Our characterization emphasis is on understanding the nucleation mechanism and the GaN growth mode, which depend on the SiC surface preparation.  相似文献

A new type of intermittent behavior is described to occur near the boundary of the phase synchronization regime of coupled chaotic oscillators. This mechanism, called ring intermittency, arises for sufficiently high initial mismatches in the frequencies of the two coupled systems. The laws for both the distribution and the mean length of the laminar phases versus the coupling strength are analytically deduced. Very good agreement between the theoretical results and the numerically calculated data is shown. We discuss how this mechanism is expected to take place in other relevant physical circumstances.  相似文献

The T=0 transport properties of a wire interacting with a lateral two-level quantum dot are studied by using an exact numerical calculation. The wire conductance, the spin–spin correlation and the Kondo temperature are obtained as a function of the dot level energy spacing. When the dot has two electrons and spin SD1, the wire current is totally quenched by the S=1 Kondo effect. The Kondo temperature is maximum at the singlet–triplet transition and its dependence upon the dot energy spacing follows a non-universal scaling law.  相似文献

Pure phase correlation with improved discrimination capability is proposed. The improvement is achieved by designing a region of support based on the discrimination capability (DC). We propose four approaches for designing this region; some of them consider the input scene in the design, while others are input scene invariant. The performances of these approaches are compared by numerical simulation. The DC is improved significantly for the multi-object scenes even when using an input scene invariant region of support design.  相似文献

Single ultra-short pulses from Gaussian and vortex beams have been used for the fabrication of complex micro-structures via multi-photon polymerization. The complexity of the resultant micro-structures stems from the modification of both transverse intensity and phase profiles of these single pulses to create modulated scaffolds and hollow cylinders. Experimental results are compared to theoretical models, and good agreement is shown.  相似文献

We have designed slow light photonic crystal waveguides operating in a low loss and constant dispersion window of Δλ = 2 nm around λ = 1565 nm with a group index of ng = 60. We experimentally demonstrate a relatively low propagation loss, of 130 dB/cm, for waveguides up to 800 μm in length. This result is particularly remarkable given that the waveguides were written on an electron-beam lithography tool with a writefield of 100 μm that exhibits stitching errors of typically 10–50 nm. We reduced the impact of these stitching errors by introducing “slow–fast–slow” mode conversion interfaces and show that these interfaces reduce the loss from 320 dB/cm to 130 dB/cm at ng = 60. This significant improvement highlights the importance of the slow–fast–slow method and shows that high performance slow light waveguides can be realised with lengths much longer than the writing field of a given e-beam lithography tool.  相似文献

Objective

Chemotherapy commonly causes liver injury through sinusoidal obstructive syndrome and steatosis. Chemotherapy-induced liver injury may make it more difficult to detect metastases secondary to reduced contrast between the injured liver and metastases. The aim of this study was to determine the sensitivity of superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) contrast-enhanced imaging in patients who have undergone chemotherapy prior to liver surgery.

Methods

Local ethics committee approval was obtained. Thirty-one patients with hepatic metastases completing preoperative chemotherapy were prospectively recruited. Images were reviewed independently by two blinded observers who identified and localized lesions with a four-point confidence scale. The alternative free-response receiver operator characteristic method was used to analyze the results.

Results

The sensitivity in detecting colorectal metastases following chemotherapy was 78% and 76%, respectively, for observers 1 and 2 (95% confidence interval: 71%–85% and 68%–82%). The areas under the alternative free-response receiver operator curves were 0.73 and 0.80 for observers 1 and 2, respectively.

Conclusion

Compared to previously published work on chemotherapy-naïve patients, it is clear that the sensitivity of SPIO-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting colorectal metastases following chemotherapy is reduced. It is therefore critical that all imaging — pre-, during and postchemotherapy — is reviewed when reporting liver MRI prior to surgery.  相似文献
