The pinch off of an inviscid fluid column is described using a potential flow model with capillary forces. The interface velocity is obtained via a Galerkin boundary integral method for the 3D axisymmetric Laplace equation, whereas the interface location and the velocity potential on the free boundary are both approximated using level set techniques on a fixed domain. The algorithm is validated computing the Raleigh-Taylor instability for liquid columns which provides an analytical solution for short times. The simulations show the time evolution of the fluid tube and the algorithm is capable of handling pinch-off and after pinch-off events. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Most operational models in atmospheric physics, meteorology and climatology nowadays adopt spherical geodesic grids and require “ad hoc” developed interpolation procedures. The author does a comparison between chosen representatives of linear, distance-based and cubic interpolation schemes outlining their advantages and drawbacks in this specific application field. Numerical experiments on a standard test problem, while confirming a good performance of linear and distance-based schemes in a single interpolation step, also show their minor accuracy with respect to the cubic scheme in the more realistic simulation of advection of a meteorological field.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of a class of linear dissipative integral differential equations. We show in the abstract setting a necessary and sufficient condition to get an exponential decay of the solution. The influence of fuzzy implication operators and the connective Also on the accuracy of a fuzzy model of a d.c. series motor is considered. Some typical fuzzy implication operators are applied to the construction of a fuzzy model of a d.c. series motor. A root-mean-square error is used as the criterion of the fuzzy model's adequacy to the real system. A number of mathematical operations necessary for the implementation of the fuzzy model are used as the criterion by which the fuzzy model's applicability if estimated from the point of view of computing techniques. The best types of fuzzy relations, representing fuzzy models of a real system, are chosen in order to secure the least root-mean-square error with minimal number of mathematical operations necessary for computer implementation.  相似文献

Patients diagnosed with nodules (NO = 40) in a large university hospital clinic and an age-stratum matched nondiseased group (ND = 200) described adverse outcomes of vocal impairment on work and work-related communications. NOs were significantly more likely than NDs to report symptoms of hoarseness (73% vs. 26%), high-note difficulty (70% vs. 20%), difficulty speaking with a lower voice (53% vs. 13%) and a tired voice (50% vs. 10%), and their greatest source of physical discomfort was associated with scratchiness (61% vs. 3%). The average number of symptoms was four in NOs and less than one in NDs. Nodule patients were most concerned about the effects their voice problem would have on their future career (78% vs. 24%) and 49% of NOS reported their voice problem had an adverse work effect in the past compared with 4% of NDs. Having a voice condition limited current job performance in 39% of the NO group but only in 2% of the ND group. The results suggest that a diagnosis of nodules plays a major role in disrupting careers and work activities and that available educational programs and additional research are needed for improving their functional ability and preventing adverse outcomes in the lives of individuals with voice disorders.  相似文献

We study how massive ghost-free gravity \(f(R)\) -modified theories, MGFTs, can be encoded into generic off-diagonal Einstein spaces. Using “auxiliary” connections completely defined by the metric fields and adapted to nonholonomic frames with associated nonlinear connection structure, we decouple and integrate in certain general forms the field equations in MGFT. Imposing additional nonholonomic constraints, we can generate Levi-Civita, LC, configurations and mimic MGFT effects via off-diagonal interactions of effective Einstein and/or Einstein–Cartan gravity with nonholonomically induced torsion. We show that imposing nonholonomic constraints it is possible reproduce very specific models of massive \(f(R)\) gravity studied in Cai et al. (arXiv:1307.7150, 2013), Klusoňet al. (Phys Lett B 726:918, 2013), Nojiri and Odintov (Phys Lett B 716:377, 2012) and Nojiri et al. (JCAP 1305:020, 2013). The cosmological evolution of ghost-free off-diagonal Einstein spaces is investigated. Certain compatibility of MGFT cosmology to small off-diagonal deformations of \(\Lambda \) CDM models is established.  相似文献
