Angular distribution of recoil 8Li in the reaction 9Be (π-, πN) 8Li at 1.0 GeV/c

The angular distribution of recoil ⁸Li in the reaction ⁹Be(π^-, πN) ⁸Li at 1.0 GeV/c was measured with a solid state track detector. The experimental results seem consistent with the assumption that the heavy-fragment knockout process is dominant, but other mechanisms are also required.

Optically active norbornyl and 1-phenylethyl alcohols and bromides were obtained, respectively, from norbornyl- and 1-phenylethylpentafluorosilicates which were prepared by asymmetric hydrosilylation of norbornene and styrene with trichlorosilane catalyzed by a chiral ferrocenylphosphine-palladium complex followed by treatment with potassium fluoride.

Influence of defects on the luminescence in KI

Quenching of exciton luminescence caused by coloration with u.v.-irradiation in KI and KI:Tl has been studied. Reduction in the luminescence intensity by coloration is found to depend on the coloration temperature as well as on the concentration of Tl⁺ ions. Evidences are shown that the defects with which excitons interact are vacancies and V-centers.
