Superfield propagators and supergraphs for broken supersymmetry

A method to calculate superfield propagators for models with explicitly soft or spontaneously broken supersymmetry is presented. The Feynman rules for this case are shown to be slightly modified compared to the symmetric case. The method is also applied to an effective potential calculation.     

Instantons and meson correlation functions in QCD

Various QCD correlators are calculated in the instanton liquid model in zeromode approximation and 1/N _c expansion. Previous works are extended by including dynamical quark loops. In contrast to the original “perturbative” 1/N _c approximation, not all quark loops are suppressed. Renormalization of the instanton density allows the identification of the density with the gluon condensate even in presence of dynamical quark loops. In the flavor singlet meson correlators a chain of quark bubbles survives the N _c → ∞ limit causing a massive η′ in the pseudoscalar correlator while keeping massless pions in the triplet correlator. The correlators are plotted and meson masses and couplings are obtained from a spectral fit. They are compared to the values obtained from numerical studies of the instanton liquid and to experimental results.     

Strange resonance production: probing chemical and thermal freeze-out in relativistic heavy ion collisions

The production and the observability of Λ(1520), K⁰(892) Φ and Δ(1232) hadron resonances in central Pb+Pb collisions at 160 A GeV is addressed. The rescattering probabilities of the resonance decay products in the evolution are studied. Strong changes in the reconstructable particle yields and spectra between chemical and thermal freeze-out are estimated. Abundances and spectra of reconstructable resonances are predicted.

Preparation of Disubstituted Maleic Anhydrides from Reactive 2-Oxo-3H-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridinium Compounds A new useful method for the preparation of disubstituted maleic anhydrides, most of them bearing additional functional groups in the side chain, is described. The key step of the synthesis consists of the addition of 2-oxo-3H-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridinium compounds to a variety of different Michael acceptors.     

Central limit theorems for C(S)-valued random variables

Let C(S) be the space of real-valued continuous functions on a compact metric space S. Let {X_n, n ? 1} be a sequence of independent identically distributed C(S)-valued random variables with mean zero and sup_t?sE[X₁²(t)] = 1. We show that the measures induced by ($\text{X}{}_1\text{+ ··· + X}{}_{\mathrm{n}}\text{) n}{}^{\mathrm{<mtext>?</mtext><mtext>1</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ converge weakly to a Gaussian measure on C(S) under different conditions on X₁, one of which consolidates and extends results of Strassen and Dudley, Giné, and Dudley. Our method of proof is different from the methods employed by these authors.
