A theoretical investigation on the structure, stability, and thermal behaviors of the smallest polymeric units, the dimers, formed from substitutionally Si-doped fullerenes is presented. A density functional based nonorthogonal tight-binding model has been employed for describing the interatomic interactions. The study focuses on those polymeric structures which involve Si-Si or Si-C interfullerene bonds. The binding energy of the dimers increases with their Si content from about 0.25 eV in C(60)-C(60) to about 4.5 eV in C(58)Si(2)-C(58)Si(2). Moreover, the C(59)SiC(59) dimer, linked through the sharing of the Si atom between the two fullerenes, has been also considered. Upon heating, the dimers eventually fragment into their constituent fullerene units. The fragmentation temperature correlates with the strength of the interfullerene bonds. C(58)Si(2)-C(58)Si(2) exhibits a higher thermal stability (fragmentation temperature of approximately 500 K) than the pure carbon C(60)-C(60) dimer (with a fragmentation temperature of approximately 325 K). Given the higher structural and thermal stabilities of the Si-doped fullerene dimers, the authors propose the use of substitutionally Si-doped fullerenes as the basic units for constructing new fullerene-based polymers.  相似文献

Atomic charges and delocalization indexes (DIs) for a series of carbonyl compounds comprising dimethyl ketone, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, methyl acetate, acetamide, methyl vinyl ketone, divinyl ketone, and benzoic acid were studied using two different atomic partitionings: the QTAIM and the Hirshfeld (stockholder) scheme. The resonance model, traditionally employed to explain the reactivity of these compounds, is not in line with the total atomic charges and DIs calculated by both methodologies. However, the resonance model is supported to some extent by the pi charges and pi DIs calculated by both schemes, but the calculated values indicate that the pi population delocalizes only to a small degree. Although the absolute values of QTAIM and stockholder atomic charges are significantly different, the pi charges and the values of the DIs show similar trends for all the atoms and molecules of this study; this is especially the case for the pi DIs. A study of the electron density on the level of a single MO performed for CO, H2CO, F2CO, and H2CS reveals that the differences in the atomic sigma charges computed with both partitionings can be traced back to their different treatment of interatomic regions.  相似文献

Sequence dependence of DNA conformation plays a crucial role in its recognition by proteins and ligands. To clarify the relationship between sequence and conformation, it is necessary to quantify the conformational energy and specificity of DNA. Here, we make a systematic analysis of dodecamer DNA structures including all the 136 unique tetranucleotide sequences at the center by molecular dynamics simulations. Using a simplified conformational model with six parameters to describe the geometry of adjacent base pairs and harmonic potentials along these coordinates, we estimated the equilibrium conformational parameters and the harmonic potentials of mean force for the central base-pair steps from many trajectories of the simulations. This enabled us to estimate the conformational energy and the specificity for any given DNA sequence and structure. We tested our method by using sequence-structure threading to estimate the conformational energy and the Z-score as a measure of specificity for many B-DNA and A-DNA crystal structures. The average Z-scores were negative for both kinds of structures, indicating that the potential of mean force from the simulation is capable of predicting sequence specificity for the crystal structures and that it may be used to study the sequence specificity of both types of DNA. We also estimated the positional distribution of conformational energy and Z-score within DNA and showed that they are strongly position dependent. This analysis enabled us to identify particular conformations responsible for the specificity. The presented results will provide an insight into the mechanisms of DNA sequence recognition by proteins and ligands.  相似文献

This study describes the development of an analytical methodology based on the use of microchip electrophoresis (ME) devices integrated with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) for the separation and detection of inorganic anions in post‐blast explosive residues. The best separation condition was achieved using a running buffer composed of 35 mmol/L lactic acid, 10 mmol/L histidine and 0.070 mmol/L cetyl(trimethyl ammonium) bromide. For C4D measurements, the highest sensitivity was obtained applying a 700 kHz sinusoidal wave with excitation voltage of 20 Vpp. The separation of Cl?, NO3?, NO2?, SO42?, ClO4? and ClO3? was performed within ca. 150 s with baseline resolution and efficiencies between 4.4 × 104 and 1.7 × 105 plates/m. The found limits of detection ranged between 2.5 and 9.5 μmol/L. Last, real samples of post‐blast explosive residues were analyzed on the ME‐C4D devices obtaining successfully the determination of Cl?, NO3? and SO42?. The achieved concentration values varied between 12.8–72.5 mg/L for Cl?, 1.7–293.1 mg/L for NO3? and 1.3–201.3 mg/L for SO42?. The data obtained using ME‐C4D devices were in good agreement with the concentrations found by ion chromatography. The approach reported herein has provided short analysis time, instrumental simplicity, good analytical performance and low cost. Furthermore, the ME‐C4D devices emerge as a powerful and portable analytical platform for on‐site analysis demonstrating to be a promising tool for the crime scene investigation.  相似文献

Several new liquid-crystalline indene and pseudoazulene systems are reported. These molecules give rise to either columnar hexagonal mesophases and/or columnar plastic phases. The unique nature of these compounds stems from their non-classical discotic structure. Although the molecules have rigid aromatic cores, they lack terminal tails and instead the polarizable atoms (S, halogens) or polar groups (CN, CO) act as unusual soft parts. On the basis of many structurally related materials, we conclude that for this type of compound molecular stacking in the solid state is a prerequisite for the appearance of a columnar mesophase, although other intermolecular interactions within the layers are also important in establishing liquid-crystalline order. The behavior reported for these mesomorphic molecules opens up new possibilities in the search for related molecular interactions that might be useful for the construction of supramolecular architectures with particular properties.  相似文献

Authentic samples of whisky produced in Scotland and USA and counterfeit whisky samples commercialized in Brazil have been directly submitted to electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis in both the negative and positive ion modes to assess the potential of this technique for simple and rapid quality control and proof of authenticity of whisky samples. ESI in the negative ion mode yields the most characteristic whisky fingerprinting mass spectra in just a few seconds by direct infusion of the samples, detecting the most polar or acidic components of each sample in their deprotonated anionic forms. No pre-treatment of the sample, such as extraction or derivatization or even dilution, is required. The analysis of the ESI(-)-MS data both by simple visual inspection but more particularly by chemometric data treatment enables separation of the whisky samples into three unequivocally distinct groups: Scotch, American and counterfeit whisky, whereas single malt and blended Scotch whiskies are also distinguished to some extent. As indicated by ESI-MS/MS analysis, the diagnostic anions are simple sugars, disaccharides and phenolic compounds. Direct infusion ESI-MS therefore provides immediate chemical fingerprinting of whisky samples for type, origin and quality control, as demonstrated herein for American, Scottish and counterfeit samples, whereas ESI-MS/MS analysis of diagnostic ions adds a second dimension of fingerprinting characterization when improved selectivity is desired.  相似文献

In this paper an in depth study is presented of the use of the horseradish peroxidase (HRP) enzyme as a self-indicating biorecognition reagent in UV-vis molecular absorption spectrometry. The HRP/H2O2 reaction mechanism in the absence of an external substrate has been clarified, and the interaction between HRP and glucose oxidase (GOx) has been studied. It has been demonstrated that GOx can act as a substrate of HRP; in both cases the kinetic constants have been obtained and mathematical models have been developed. Second, the HRP/H2O2 reaction is used to follow a H2O2-producing enzymatic reaction, the glucose reaction with GOx being used as a model. As an application of this, two methodologies have been proposed for glucose determination: with or without previous incubation of glucose with GOx. In both cases mathematical models relating HRP absorbance changes to glucose concentration have been developed and tested; both methods have been optimized, analytically characterized, and tested for glucose determination in samples. The methodology described could be applied to other heme-proteins and to other H2O2-producing enzymatic reactions. The models permit the reaction constants to be calculated. From the analytical chemistry point of view the models allow the prediction of the method sensitivity for other analytes involved in this type of reaction if the kinetic constants are known and can be used in the design of optical sensors.  相似文献

Solution studies to elucidate the coordination behaviour and the electrochemical response of the ferrocene-functionalized polyazamacrocycle 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa(ferrocenylmethyl)-1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaazacyclooctadecane (L1) by potentiometric methods and electrochemical techniques have been carried out. Potentiometric methods in the presence of Cd2+, Hg2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ were carried out in 1,4-dioxane/water (70:30 v/v, 25°C, 0.1 mol dm−3 KNO3). Electrochemical studies were carried out in acetonitrile/dichloromethane (50:50 v/v, 25°C, 0.1 mol dm−3 TBAClO4) in the presence of transition metal ions and anions.  相似文献

The present paper proposes a preconcentration procedure for lead determination using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). It is based on lead(II) ions extraction as brilliant cresyl blue (BCB) complex and its sorption onto Diaion HP-2MG, a methacrylic ester copolymer. The optimization step was carried out using factorial design and the variables studied were pH, shaking time and reagent concentration. In the established experimental conditions, lead can be determinate with a limit of detection of 3.7 μg L−1 lead (N = 20) and a relative standard deviation of 7% for a lead concentration of 100 μg L−1. The accuracy was confirmed by analysis of a certified reference material, the stream sediment furnished by National Research Centre for Certified Reference Materials (NRCCRM), China (GBW 07310). Effect of other ions in the procedure proposed was also studied. The method was applied for lead determination in real samples of water, tea, soil and dust. Tests of addition/recovery in the experiments for lead determination in water samples revealed that the proposed procedure could be applied satisfactorily for analysis of these samples.  相似文献
