Modification of the electronic structure and formation of an accumulation layer in ultrathin Ba/n-GaN and Ba/n-AlGaN interfaces

The electronic structure of the n-GaN(0001) and Al _x Ga_{1 ? x} N(0001) (x = 0.16, 0.42) surfaces and the Ba/n-GaN and Ba/AlGaN interfaces is subjected to in situ photoemission investigations in the submonolayer Ba coverage range. The photoemission spectra of the valence band and the spectra of the surface states and the core 3d level of Ga, the 2p level of Al, and the 4d and 5p levels of Ba are studied during synchrotron excitation in the photon energy range 50–400 eV. A spectrum of the surface states in Al _x Ga_{1 ? x} N (x = 0.16, 0.42) is found. The electronic structure of the surface and the near-surface region is found to undergo substantial changes during the formation of the Ba/n-GaN and Ba/AlGaN interfaces. The effect of narrowing the photoemission spectrum in the valence band region from 10 to 2 eV is detected, and surface eigenstates are suppressed. The Ba adsorption is found to induce the appearance of a new photoemission peak in the bandgap at the Fermi level in the Ba/n-GaN and Ba/n-Al_0.16Ga_0.84N interfaces. The nature of this peak is found to be related to the creation of an accumulation layer due to a change in the near-surface potential and enriching band bending. The energy parameters of the potential well of the accumulation layer are shown to be controlled by the Ba coverage.     

Particle transport in space-periodic potentials in underdamped systems

We consider the motion of an underdamped Brownian particle in a tilted periodic potentialin a wide temperature range. Based on the previous data and the new simulation results weshow that the underdamped motion of particles in space-periodic potentials can beconsidered as overdamped motion in the velocity space in the effective double-wellpotential. Simple analytic expressions for the particle mobility and diffusion coefficientare derived with the use of the presented model. These accurately match numericalsimulation results.     

Synthesis of 4-methyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline

Synthesis of furo[3,2-c]pyridine and furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives from butyrolactone diethylacetal

The reaction of butyrolactone acetal with CH acids was used to synthesize 2-methylenetetrahydrofuran derivatives. The latter react with dimethylformimide acetal to give a dieneamine that is capable of undergoing cyclization to furo [3,2-c]pyrimidine derivatives. This two-ring system was also synthesized by the reaction of cyanacetamide with 3-dimethylaminomethylenebutyrolactone acetal. The indicated acetal can also react with amidine components to give furo [2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 1, pp. 68–71, January, 1982.     

New iron-containing antibiotics isolation and properties of viridomycins A, B, and C

On deviations and defects of meromorphic functions of finite lower order

We obtain estimates for the sum of deviations and sum of defects to power 1/2 in terms of the Valiron defect of the derivative at zero. In particular, the Fuchs hypothesis (1958) is verified.     

C‐phosphorylation of n‐methylpyrrole

The phosphorylation of N‐methylpyrrole with phosphorus (III) halides has been studied. Migration of the dibromophosphino group from the second to the third position of N‐methylpyrrole, leading to the 3‐dibromophosphine, has been found.
