Extraction--spectrophotometric determination of oxalate in urine and blood serum

An extraction--spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of oxalate, based on the formation of a mixed ligand vanadium (V)--mandelohydroxamic acid--oxalate complex. The complex was extracted into a solution of trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Adogen 446) in toluene and the absorbance measured at 535 nm. The experimental variables and interferences in this determination were studied. The detection limit is 0.5 microgram ml-1 and the range of application is between 2 and 8 micrograms ml-1. The method was applied to the determination of oxalate in urine and blood serum.     

Photochemical degradation of hyaluronic acid by singlet oxygen

Changes of the rheological properties of hyaluronic acid (sodium-magnesium salt) solutions after exposure to UV radiation indicate a vigorous decrease in their viscosity, but its still strong shear rate dependence. Whereas the presence of the singlet oxygen sensitizer (anthracene-1-sulphonic acid) brings about a loss of shear dependence; the studied solutions show newtonian behavior.     

Longitudinal acceptance computation for A 50 MeV race track microtron

The algorithm for analysing of longitudinal motion and for calculating phase trajectory in race track microtron (RTM) with small injection energy and small energy gain per turn is described. A longitudinal acceptance is calculated.We are indebted to E. A. Perelshtein and N. Ju. Kazarinov and A. Ju. Molodozhencev for stimulating advices. We thank M. Molecular intercalates

The paper deals with the relations between host lattices and guest molecules. Several types of interaction of the guest molecules and the host material are explained and some conclusions are made about the arrangement of various guest molecules in the van der Waals' gap.     

Radiation from hot spots orbiting an extreme Reissner-Nordström black hole

The general-relativistic effects of an extreme Reissner-Nordström black hole on the flux of radiation emitted by a hot spot orbiting the hole with a thin accretion disk are investigated. The light curves, the redshift factor, and the solid angle against the spot orbit position are given. The results are then compared with those of a spot orbiting a Schwarzschild black hole.     

Elastic constants of the alloys Cd1−x Zn x (x<0.3%) and their temperature dependence

The temperature dependence of elastic constants of Cd_1–x Zn _x alloys, havingx=0.021, 0·042 and 0·233 at.%, has been measured in the temperature range from 4·2 to 300 K by the pulse-echo-overlap ultrasonic method. The adiabatic compressibilities and the Debye temperatures have been calculated. All elastic constants with the exception ofc ₄₄ increase slightly with the growing concentration of Zn.The summary of this paper was presented on the 7^th Conference on Ultrasonic Methods in ilina, September 11^th–13^th, 1980.     

Kinetics of the hydrogen electrode reactions of platinum in the NaHSO4 + KHSO4 eutectic melt

The kinetics of the hydrogen electrode reactions on Pt in the NaHSO₄ + KHSO₄ melt at ca. 185°C is studied. Under potentiodynamic conditions both the anodic and cathodic processes can be interpreted with the hydrogen electrode reaction mechanism already known. At potentials more negative than 0.1 V (vs. Ag/Ag⁺ (0.06 M)) the mechanism of the cathodic reaction changes because of a sulphide species formed on the electrode which is produced by a reduction of the melt components.
