We show that the displacement and strain formulations of the displacement–traction problem of three-dimensional linearized elasticity can be viewed as Legendre–Fenchel dual problems to the stress formulation of the same problem. We also show that each corresponding Lagrangian has a saddle-point, thus fully justifying this new approach to elasticity by means of Legendre–Fenchel duality.  相似文献

The detection of multicomponent signals for which the components are not equidetectable is precisely investigated as a function of the level difference ΔL(i∕j) between components. The detection thresholds are determined for a seven-tone complex signal with random starting phases masked by white noise. Level differences between the components are examined. A model for non-equidetectable conditions based on the statistical summation model is described. The improvement in detection is calculated from the level difference between components that is related to the thresholds for single components. The model predictions are in accordance with the experimental results.  相似文献

Using atomic force microscopy with nonconventional carbon tips, the pinning of a liquid contact line on individual nanometric defects was studied. This mechanism is responsible for the occurrence of the contact angle hysteresis. The presence of weak defects which do not contribute to the hysteresis is evidenced for the first time. The dissipated energy associated with strong defects is also measured down to values in the range of kT, which correspond to defect sizes in the order of 1 nm.  相似文献

We present a study of the dijet invariant mass spectrum in events with two jets produced in association with a W boson in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.3 fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at √s = 1.96 TeV. We find no evidence for anomalous resonant dijet production and derive upper limits on the production cross section of an anomalous dijet resonance recently reported by the CDF Collaboration, investigating the range of dijet invariant mass from 110 to 170 GeV/c(2). The probability of the D0 data being consistent with the presence of a dijet resonance with 4 pb production cross section at 145 GeV/c(2) is 8×10(-6).  相似文献

We search for resonant WW or WZ production by using up to 5.4 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment in run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The data are consistent with the standard model background expectation, and we set limits on a resonance mass by using the sequential standard model W' boson and the Randall-Sundrum model graviton G as benchmarks. We exclude a sequential standard model W' boson in the mass range 180-690 GeV and a Randall-Sundrum graviton in the range 300-754 GeV at 95% C.L.  相似文献

A representative data set has been gained by the measurement of the electronic absorption spectra of 12 systematically selected push–pull systems with an intramolecular charge‐transfer (CT) absorption and the general structure D–π–A (D = donor, A = acceptor) featuring electron‐withdrawing CN groups, electron‐donating N(CH3)2 groups, and various π‐conjugated backbones in 32 solvents with different polarities. The longest‐wavelength absorption maxima λmax and the corresponding wavenumbers $\tilde {v}_{{\rm max}} $ were evaluated from the UV/Vis spectra measured in 32 well‐selected solvents. The D–π–A push–pull systems were further characterized by quantum‐chemical quantities and simple structural parameters. Structure–solvatochromism relationships were evaluated by multidimensional statistic methods. Whereas solvent polarizability and solvent cavity size proved to be the most important factors affecting the position of λmax, the solvent polarity was less important. The most important characteristics of organic CT compounds are the energy of the LUMO, the permanent dipole moment, the COSMO (COnductor‐like Screening MOdel) area, the COSMO volume, the number, and ratio of N,N‐dimethylamino and cyano groups, and eventually the number of triple bonds (π‐linkers). A relation between the first‐order polarizability α, the longest‐wavelength absorption maxima λmax, and the structural features has also been found. Perturbative QCD predicts that the growth of the gluon density at high energies should saturate, forming a Color Glass Condensate (CGC), which is described in mean field approximation by the Balitsky–Kovchegov (BK) equation. In this paper we study the γγ interactions at high energies and estimate the main observables which will be probed at future linear colliders using the color dipole picture. We discuss in detail the dipole–dipole cross section and propose a new relation between this quantity and the dipole scattering amplitude. The total γγ, γ ? γ ? cross sections and the real photon structure function $F_{2}^{\gamma }(x,Q^{2})$ are calculated using the recent solution of the BK equation with running coupling constant and the predictions are compared with those obtained using phenomenological models for the dipole–dipole cross section and scattering amplitude. We demonstrate that these models are able to describe the LEP data at high energies, but predict a very different behavior for the observables at higher energies. Therefore we conclude that the study of γγ interactions can be useful to constrain the QCD dynamics.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate some aspects of the dynamics and entanglement of bipartite quantum system (atom-quantized field), coupled to a third “external” subsystem (quantized field). We make use of the Raman coupled model; a three-level atom in a lambda configuration interacting with two modes of the quantized cavity field. We consider the far off resonance limit, which allows the derivation of an effective Hamiltonian of a two-level atom coupled to the fields. We also make a comparison with the situation in which one of the modes is treated classically rather than prepared in a quantum field (coherent state).  相似文献
