Two-dimensional Anhydrous Cadmium(II) Phthalate

The in situ hydrolysis of phthalyl-γ-glutaminyl-histidine with Cd(ClO₄)₂·6H₂O in the presence of water and methanol affords a novel two-dimensional cadmium coordination polymer, a new phase, anhydrous cadmium(II) phthalate, ( 1 ). The structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data: P2₁/c, a = 13.8168(14), b = 7.0351(7), c = 8.2054(8) Å, β = 105.540(2)°, V = 768.43(13) ų, Z = 4, R₁ = 0.0380, wR₂ = 0.1111.     

A Generalization of the Mean Size Formula of Wavelet Packets in Lp

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mean size formula of wavelet packets in Lp for 0 〈 p ≤ ∞. We generalize a mean size formula of wavelet packets given in terms of the p-norm joint spectral radius and we also give some asymptotic formulas for the Lp-norm or quasi-norm on the subdivision trees. All results will be given in the general setting,     

On oriented 2-factorable graphs

Oriented 2-factorable graphs are reduced to bouquets by permutation voltage assignment in this paper. Introducing the concept ofk-class index of a permutation group, various oriented 2-factorable graphs are enumerated in this paper.     

Synthesis and characterization of a polyfluorene containing carbazole and oxadiazole dipolar pendent groups and its application to electroluminescent devices

We have synthesized a blue‐light‐emitting polyfluorene (PF) derivative ( PF‐CBZ‐OXD ) that presents bulky hole‐transporting carbazole and electron‐transporting oxadiazole pendent groups functionalized at the C‐9 positions of alternating fluorene units. The results from photoluminescence and electrochemical measurements indicate that both the side chains and the PF main chain retain their own electronic characteristics in the copolymer. An electroluminescent device incorporating this polymer as the emitting layer was turned on at 4.5 V; it exhibited a stable blue emission with a maximum external quantum efficiency of 1.1%. Moreover, we doped PF‐CBZ‐OXD and its analogue PF‐TPA‐OXD with a red‐light‐emitting iridium phosphor for use as components of phosphorescent red‐light emitters to investigate the effect of the host's HOMO energy level on the degree of charge trapping and on the electrophosphorescent efficiency. We found that spectral overlap and individual energy level matching between the host and guest were both crucial features affecting the performance of the electroluminescence devices. Atomic force microscopy measurements indicated that the dipolar nature of PF‐CBZ‐OXD , in contrast to the general nonpolarity of polydialkylfluorenes, provided a stabilizing environment that allowed homogeneous dispersion of the polar iridium triplet dopant. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cavitation mechanism in cyanobacterial growth inhibition by ultrasonic irradiation

To prevent cyanobacterial bloom in eutrophic water by ultrasonic method, ultrasonic irradiations with different parameters were tested to inhibit Spirulina platensis from growth. The experimental result based on cyanobacterial growth, chlorophyll a and photosynthetic activity showed that, the ultrasonic irradiation inhibited cyanobacterial proliferation effectively, furthermore the inhibition effectiveness increased in the order: 200 kHz>1.7 MHz>20 kHz and became saturated with the increased power. The inhibition mechanism can be mainly attributed to the mechanical damage to the cell structures caused by ultrasonic cavitation, which was confirmed by light microscopy and differential interference microscopy. The optimal frequency of 200 kHz in cavition and sonochemistry was also most effective in cyanobacterial growth inhibition. The higher frequency of 1.7 MHz is weaker than 20 kHz in cavitation, but has more effective inhibition because it is nearer to the resonance frequency of gas vesicle. The inhibition saturation with ultrasonic power was due to the ultrasonic attenuation induced by the acoustic shielding of bubbles enclosing the radiate surface of transducer.     

Estimation of kinetics parameters for the adsorption of human serum albumin onto hydroxyapatite-modified silver electrodes by piezoelectric quartz crystal impedance analysis.

The adsorption of human serum albumin onto hydroxyapatite-modified silver electrodes has been in situ investigated by utilizing the piezoelectric quartz crystal impedance technique. The changes of equivalent circuit parameters were used to interpret the adsorption process. A kinetic model of two consecutive steps was derived to describe the process and compared with a first-order kinetic model by using residual analysis. The experimental data of frequency shift fitted to the model and kinetics parameters, k1, k2, psi1, psi2 and qr, were obtained. All fitted results were in reasonable agreement with the corresponding experimental results. Two adsorption constants (7.19 kJ mol(-1) and 22.89 kJ mol(-1)) were calculated according to the Arrhenius formula.

Yb:FAP和Yb:C_3S_2-FAP晶体光谱的温度特性和选择激发

报导了Yb :FAP和Yb :C3S2 _FAP晶体在不同温度下的吸收光谱和荧光光谱实验结果 ,研究发现由于电子_声子近共振耦合作用 ,Yb :FAP和Yb :C3S2 _FAP晶体均存在有明显的振动谱 ,Yb :FAP晶体的零声子线在低温下还劈裂为相差 10cm- 1 的两条线 .采用激光选择激发技术研究了Yb3 离子在FAP和C3S2 _FAP晶体中的格位特征 ,结果表明Yb3 离子在这两种基质中都只占据Ca(Ⅱ )格位 ,但由于CaF2 的挥发 ,导致了Ca(Ⅱ )格位的局部畸变 .
