<Emphasis Type="Italic">FCC/BCC</Emphasis> competition and enhancement of saturation magnetization in nanocrystalline Co-Ni-Fe films

The structure, chemical composition, and magnetic properties of electrochemically deposited nanocrystalline Co-Ni-Fe films were investigated using a number of techniques. A high saturation magnetic induction up to B _s = 21 kG was attained. An enhancement of the saturation magnetization compared to the ideal anticipated one was revealed, which correlated with the nonlinear behavior of the structural phase composition and lattice parameters with the change of the composition. Phase state stabilization of ammonium nitrate for creating an oxidizing agent for smokeless gas-generating formulations yielding no toxic combustion products

Methods for phase stabilization of ammonium nitrate were sought for in order to considerably expand the application area of this oxidizing agent in various-purpose self-combustible formulations, including that in a new generation of gas-generating formulations for automobile air bags. New methods for stabilization of ammonium nitrate were studied and, in particular, a search was made for organic compounds that can stabilize ammonium nitrate even at their low content. The mechanism of phase state stabilization of ammonium nitrate by compounds of this kind was examined.     

Carbon adsorbents for the sorpting and concentrating nobel metals

Kinetic, sorption and selectivity properties of commercial adsorbents are improved by adding petroleum residues (tar asphaltene concentrates) 13% of whole mass. Obtained adsorbents can be used for selective extraction of nobel metals from multicomponent polymetallic solutions of heavy metals and fro sewages purification for removing arsenic.     

Diffraction by a Corrugated Interface. Complete Transformation of an Incident Wave to the Diffraction Lobe

Using the simplest (sinusoidal) corrugation profile in the approximation of absence of losses in the material as an example, we study the regimes of complete transformation of an incident wave to the diffraction lobe by a corrugated metal surface or a corrugated interface of two dielectric media. A numerical-intuitive pattern of appearance and evolution of such regimes with increasing corrugation amplitude is revealed. It is shown that the regimes of complete transformation of an incident wave to the diffraction lobe are possible in both the case of autocollimation and the case of a considerable deviation from it. The examination is based on a numerical method of solving the integral equation by means of a specially created interactive processing system in Visual Fortran.     

Density of states in a mesoscopic SNS junction

The semiclassical theory of proximity effects predicts a gap E _g～?D/L ² in the excitation spectrum of a long diffusive superconductor/normal-metal/superconductor (SNS) junction. Mesoscopic fluctuations lead to anomalously localized states in the normal part of the junction.As a result, a nonzero, yet exponentially small, density of states (DOS) appears at energies below E _g. In the framework of the supermatrix nonlinear σ model, these prelocalized states are due to the instanton configurations with broken supersymmetry. The exact result for the DOS near the semiclassical threshold is found, provided the dimensionless conductance of the normal part G _N is large. The case of poorly transparent interfaces between the normal and superconductive regions is also considered. In this limit, the total number of subgap states may be large.     

Structure and stability of 0° domain walls localized at defects in a (001)-crystal plate with combined anisotropy

An analysis is made of the conditions of formation and the stability region of static-soliton-type magnetic nonuniformities in a (001)-crystal plate with combined anisotropy. It is shown that if demagnetizing fields in the plate are taken into account, static solitons can localize at certain defects for appropriate parameters of the material. The soliton stability region was found to be bounded by two extreme values of the material parameters, namely, those at which the soliton is unstable against collapse and at which it expands. It was also found that the soliton stability region differs considerably from that predicted theoretically in the model disregarding the finite size of the sample and the presence of defects. Fiz. Parameters for the inclined-path sensing of molecular hydrogen in the atmosphere by lidar with a YAG:Nd laser

The lidar equation for the vibrational backscattering of neodymium laser radiation and its harmonics by hydrogen molecules is solved numerically. Inclined paths in the atmosphere are investigated with the aim of selecting the transmitter wavelength for detecting the lowest concentrations of hydrogen. Zh. Tekh. Inelastic processes in collisions of multicharged fast ions with atoms

We use the eikonal approximation to develop a general formula for the cross sections of inelastic collisions of multicharged fast ions (including relativistic ions) with atoms that is applicable within a broad range of collision energies, has the standard nonrelativistic limit, and becomes, in the ultrarelativistic case, the well-known result that follows from the exact solution of the Dirac equation. As an example we study the excitation and ionization of a hydrogenlike atom, the single and double excitation and ionization of a heliumlike atom, and multiple (up to the eighth order) ionization of the neon atom and (up to eighteenth order) ionization of the argon atom. We derive simple analytical expressions for the inelastic cross sections and establish recurrence relations linking the cross sections of ionization of different orders.
