Zn(II) ions sorption onto N‐Benzoyl‐N‐Phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) impregnated polyurethane foam (PUF) has been studied extensively using radiotracer and batch techniques. Maximum sorption (~98%) of Zn(II) ions (8.9 × 10?6 M) onto sorbent surface is achieved from a buffer of pH 8 solution in 30 minutes using 7.5 mg/mL of BPHA‐impregnated polyurethane foam at 283 K. The sorption data follow Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin‐Radushkevich (D‐R) isotherms. The Langmuir constants Q = 18.01 ± 0.38 μ mole g?1 and b = (5.39 ± 0.98) × 103 L mole?1 have been computed. Freundlich constants 1/n = 0.29 ± 0.01 and Cm = 111.22 ± 12.3 μ mole g?1 have been estimated. Sorption capacity 31.42 ± 1.62 μ mole g?1, β = ?0.00269 ± 0.00012 kJ2 mole?2 and energy 13.34 ± 0.03 kJ mole?1 have been evaluated using D‐R isotherm. The variation of sorption with temperature yields ΔH = ?77.7 ± 2.8 k J mole?1, ΔS = ?237.7 ± 9.3 J mole?1 K?1 and ΔG = ?661.8 ± 117.5 k J mol?1 at 298 K reflecting the exothermic and spontaneous nature of sorption. Cations like Fe(III), Ce(III), Al(III), Pb(II) and Hg(II) and anions, i.e., oxalate, EDTA and tartrate, reduce the sorption significantly, while iodide and thiocyanate enhanced the sorption of Zn(II) ions onto BPHA‐impregnated polyurethane foam.  相似文献

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures were synthesized via a one-step solid-state reaction approach in ammonia (NH3) gas environment with different temperature ramp rates. The so-formed nanostructures were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase identification, where the typical wurtzite hexagonal structure was observed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the particle size to be in the range 45–50 nm, the same as calculated by the XRD pattern for the ramp rate of 10 °C/min. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the chemical purity of the samples. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum indicated multiple near-band-edge emissions and energy-band emissions. Then, these ZnO nanomaterials were used for the degradation of crystal violet (CV) dye under UV light irradiation. The CV solution was completely degraded in 2 hr. The initial photocatalyst and dye amounts of 0.2 g/100 ml and 0.5 mg/L, respectively, were found to be the optimum values for maximum degradation efficiency. The ZnO-based photocatalyst was stable up to three cycles of reuse. These results indicate that the high surface area and porosity of the nanomaterials are responsible for the high efficiency, which was confirmed by specific surface area analysis.  相似文献

Interest in the mode of propagation of self-sustaining reactions has been motivated by the influence of the mode on the microstructure and composition of the final product. However, comprehensive studies relating the onset of the various propagation modes to the chemical and phase transformations taking place in the sample are still lacking. In the present work propagation instabilities in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) of transition metal aluminides are studied using a computer simulation approach. The results are presented for the SHS of NiAl, CoAl, TiAl, and NbAl(3). Particular emphasis is made with respect to the influence of process variables and system parameters on the onset of propagation instabilities, in relation to the physicochemical processes taking place during the propagation of the combustion front.  相似文献

Abstract

The olive (Olea europaea L.) is a worldwide famous tree crop having valuable commercial role due to nutritional as well as therapeutic benefits obtained from its edible oil. Eight varieties of Olea europaea L. fruits were obtained from three Agricultural research institutes located in different areas of Pakistan including Quetta, Lorallia and Zhob to extract and determine their oil contents by conventional method as solvent extraction (soxhlet apparatus). Statistical analysis showed significant (p?=?0.002) difference in oil composition of collected plants. Highest amount (percentage) of oil was obtained from Gemlik variety (65%) from Lorallia and lowest oil content from Dolece-agogia variety (17.5%) collected from Quetta. Further research is under consideration to rule out best suitable factors including some soil and environmental factors to obtained more potential cultivars of Olea europaea in Pakistan.  相似文献

This study presents the diffusion of heterogeneous ternary (Cu-Ag-Zr) adatoms clusters on Ag(111) using molecular dynamics techniques which could be important for the surface phenomena's and helpful for the ternary cluster's growth and formation of ternary alloy-based thin films. The mechanism of nanoscale surface diffusion is investigated for 1Cu-1Ag-1Zr, 2Cu-2Ag-2Zr, 3Cu-3Ag-3Zr, and 4Cu-4Ag-4Zr clusters at temperatures 300, 500, and 700 K. The diffusion mechanism displays that the diffusion of trimer cluster exhibits hopping, sliding, and shearing at 300 K, whereas for hexamer, nonamer, and decamer, the diffusion rate is low; however, breathing, anchoring, and concentrated motion dominates. At 500 K, trimer and hexamer show the process of atomic exchange; however, the atomic exchange is not observed in the case of nonamer and decamer diffusion. The atomic exchange mechanism of Cu and Zr adatoms dominates at 700 K for all size clusters, except Ag adatoms, where Zr adatoms show a relatively more tendency. Separation and rejoining of the one and two adatoms (likely Zr adatom) are also witnessed at high temperature. The pop-up of Ag adatoms also occurs in very short intervals over the remaining adatoms of clusters. Interestingly, during trimer diffusion, the adsorption of the Zr- or Cu-adatom among the trimer cluster into the substitutional site is found. At 700 K, vacancy generation, filling of vacancies, and migration of vacancy, in the neighborhood of the adatoms cluster, also observed. Moreover, the rate of diffusion decreases with the size increase of the clusters and increases with the increase in temperature.  相似文献

A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination of benzoyl peroxide and the related compounds benzoic acid (BA), methylparaben, benzaldehyde, propylparaben, and ethyl benzoate. The compounds are separated on a column containing octadecyl silane chemically bonded to porous silica particles. The mobile phase is acetonitrile-buffer (45 + 55, v/v). Solutions are injected into the chromatographic system under isocratic conditions at a constant flow rate of 1.5 mL/min with UV detection at 235 nm. Analysis of stability samples showed rapid accumulation of BA by thermal degradation. A rationale has been established for the acceptable limit of BA in the formulation, which already contains BA (0.2%) as a preservative. The proposed method is efficient and determines the active compound and 5 related compounds in a run time of 20 min. The method was validated according to the guidelines of the International Conference on Harmonization and demonstrated good agreement with the validation requirements.  相似文献

A stability-indicating hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) method has been developed and validated for the quantitative determination of Brimonidine tartrate (BT) formulated as an ophthalmic solution. Isocratic separation was achieved using an acetonitrile-buffer mixture (92:8, v/v) at pH 7.1 on an unmodified silica column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The drug was subjected to oxidative, hydrolytic, photolytic and thermal stress conditions and complete separation was achieved for the parent compound and degradation products. The influence of acetonitrile, pH and ionic strength of the buffer was studied. Linearity range and recoveries for BT were 100–400 μg mL?1 and 100.12%, respectively. The method was validated for BT and indicated that the method was sufficiently sensitive with a limit of detection at 0.005 μg mL?1 and a limit of quantitation at 0.02 μg mL?1, respectively.  相似文献

Eight tri‐ and diorganotin(IV) carboxylates with general formulae R3SnL and R2SnL2 (where R = CH3, n‐C4H9, C6H5, C7H7, and L = 2′,4′‐difluoro‐4‐hydroxy‐[1,1′]‐biphenyl‐3‐carboxylic acid) were synthesized and characterized by UV–vis, IR, conductance, multinuclear (1H, 13C, and 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The crystal structure of [(CH3)3Sn(C13H7O3F2)] indicates that the tin atom in the asymmetric unit exists in a trigonal bipyramidal geometry having a space group Pbca with an orthorhombic crystal system. These complexes were also screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Arylnaphthyl ketones condense with diethyl succinate yielding the stereoisomeric half-esters 2a–2d which were subjected to a series of reactions leading to 1-phenylphenanthrene and 1,1′-binaphthyl derivatives. (E)-3-Ethoxycarbonyl-4-(4-methoxynaphth-1-yl)-4-arylbut-3-enoic acids ( 2b–d ) were converted finally into the corresponding naphtho[1,2-c]fluorenones ( 9 ). The structure of the products was established by IR. and UV. spectroscopy. The effect of substituents on the relative proportions of (E)- and (Z)-half-esters 2 was determined by chromatography and UV. spectroscopy.  相似文献

Sol-gel is one of the most attractive techniques for production of silica-on-silicon integrated optical devices. In fact, it combines low cost with flexibility and ease of doping; thus, nonlinear and active compounds can be effectively included in the silica matrix. Here, the feasibility of applying the sol-gel technique to the realization of an erbium-doped optical amplifier is reported on, operating in the third telecommunication window. In particular, the development of an optimum strategy for the design and fabrication of a guiding structure in the strip-loaded configuration is described. Design optimization results, as well as fabrication results and measured characteristics, are described and discussed.  相似文献
