A linear solver based on algebraic multigrid and defect correction for the solution of adjoint RANS equations

A new solution approach for discrete adjoint Reynolds‐averaged Navier–Stokes equations is suggested. The approach is based on a combination of algebraic multigrid and defect correction. The efficient interplay of these two methods results in a fast and robust solution technique. Algebraic multigrid deals very well with unstructured grids, and defect correction completes it in such a way that a required second‐order accuracy of the solution is achieved. Common cruciform specimen for biaxial tensile testing of sheet moulding compound, take damage and finally fail in uniaxially loaded areas. When using these specimen, an observation of damage initialization and failure in biaxially loaded areas is, therefore, not possible. In this paper, a parametric shape optimization is described to find a more suitable specimen shape. The parametrization of the specimen is presented. Objective functions are introduced to measure the appropriateness of specimen. A weighted summation transfers the constraint multiobjective optimization problem into a constraint scalar-valued problem. Composite particles made of two fermions can be treated as ideal elementary bosons as long as the constituent fermions are sufficiently entangled. In that case, the Pauli principle acting on the parts does not jeopardise the bosonic behaviour of the whole. An indicator for bosonic quality is the composite boson normalisation ratio \(\chi _{N+1}/\chi _{N}\) of a state of \(N\) composites. This quantity is prohibitively complicated to compute exactly for realistic two-fermion wavefunctions and large composite numbers \(N\) . Here, we provide an efficient characterisation in terms of the purity \(P\) and the largest eigenvalue \(\lambda _1\) of the reduced single-fermion state. We find the states that extremise \(\chi _N\) for given \(P\) and \(\lambda _1\) , and we provide easily evaluable, saturable upper and lower bounds for the normalisation ratio. Our results strengthen the relationship between the bosonic quality of a composite particle and the entanglement of its constituents. 相似文献

Spin-label electron paramagnetic resonance (SL-EPR) spectroscopy has become a powerful and useful tool for studying structure and dynamics of biomacromolecules. However, utilizing these methods at physiological temperatures for in-cell studies is hampered by reduction of the nitroxide spin labels and thus short half-lives in the cellular environment. Consequently, reduction kinetics of two structurally different nitroxides was investigated in cell extracts of Xenopus laevis oocytes using rapid-scan cw-experiments at X-band. The five member heterocyclic ring nitroxide PCA (3-carboxy-2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrrolidinyl-1-oxy) under investigation features much higher stability against intracellular reduction than the six member ring analog TOAC (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl-4-amino-4-carboxilic acid) and is therefore a suitable spin label type for in-cell EPR. The kinetic data can be described according to the Michaelis–Menten model and thus suggest an enzymatic or enzyme-mediated reduction process. 相似文献

We report on lasing action from colonies of Escherichia coli bacteria that are genetically programmed to synthesize the green fluorescent protein (GFP). When embedded in a Fabry-Perot type cavity and excited by ns-pulses of blue light (465 nm), the bacteria generate green laser emission (~520 nm).
