Roughened silver electrodes for use in metal-enhanced fluorescence   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Roughened silver electrodes are widely used for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). We tested roughened silver electrodes for metal-enhanced fluorescence. Constant current between two silver electrodes in pure water resulted in the growth of fractal-like structures on the cathode. This electrode was coated with a monolayer of human serum albumin (HSA) protein that had been labeled with a fluorescent dye, indocyanine green (ICG). The fluorescence intensity of ICG-HSA on the roughened electrode increased by approximately 50-fold relative to the unroughened electrode, which was essentially non-fluorescent and increased typically two-fold as compared to the silver anode. No fractal-like structures were observed on the anode. Lifetime measurements showed that at least part of the increased intensity was due to an increased radiative decay rate of ICG. In our opinion, the use of in situ generated roughened silver electrodes will find multifarious applications in analytical chemistry, such as in fluorescence based assays, in an analogous manner to the now widespread use of SERS. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of roughened silver electrodes for metal-enhanced fluorescence.  相似文献

Natural enkephalins and their analogues are very important as potential therapeutic agents (analgetics). Herein we describe the influence of Dab and Pro chirality of cyclic [Leu]enkephalins (X1-c[Dab2-Pro3-βNal(2)4-Leu5], where X = Tyr or Phe) on the binding constant with β-cyclodextrin and spatial and mutual orientation of guest and host molecules. The formation of complexes is enthalpy driven for all cyclic [Leu]enkephalins studied as well as for Nal and AcNalNH2. Moreover, change of Dab residue configuration has a greater influence on changes of the binding constant of cyclic enkephalin with β-CD than change of Pro chirality has. Also, the replacement of Tyr1 residue by Phe1 substantially changes the peptide chain conformation. An analysis of 2D NMR spectra reveals that, apart from inclusion complex formed by penetration of cyclodextrin cavity from wider and narrow rims by Nal, Tyr or Phe or Leu residue, a side and/or bottom association complexes are formed.  相似文献

Successive oxidation of transition metal(II) aqua complexes (M(II)OH(2) to M(III)OH) is a domain in which proton-coupled electron transfer reactions are extremely common. The mechanism of these PCET reactions-concerted or stepwise-is an important issue in the understanding and design of natural or artificial systems catalyzing the formation of dioxygen by four-electron oxidation of water. Concerted proton-coupled electron transfer from an aqua metal(II) to a hydroxo metal(III) complex requires the close proximity of a proton-accepting group with a pK value between those of the aqua complexes. Otherwise, stepwise electron-proton or proton-electron pathways involving high-energy intermediates are followed. Concerted proton-electron pathways involving water as proton-acceptor or proton-donor group are inefficient. Cyclic voltammetry of the title complex in buffered aqueous solution and re-examination of previous results for the same complex attached to an electrode surface are used to establish these conclusions, which provide a starting point on the route to higher degrees of oxidation, such as those involved in the catalysis of water oxidation.  相似文献

A squaraine dye functionalized with a bulky trialkoxy phenyl moiety through a flexible diamide linkage ( GA‐SQ ) capable of undergoing self‐assembly has been synthesized and fully characterized. Rapid cooling of a hot solution of GA‐SQ to 0 °C results in self‐assembled precipitates consisting of two types of nanostructures, rings and ill‐defined short fibers. The application of ultrasound modifies the conditions for the supersaturation‐mediated nucleation, generating only one kind of nuclei and prompting the formation of crystalline fibrous structures, inducing gelation of solvent molecules. The unique self‐assembling behavior of GA‐SQ under ultrasound stimulus has been investigated in detail by using absorption, emission, FT‐IR, XRD, SEM, AFM and TEM techniques. These studies reveal a nucleation growth mechanism of the self‐assembled material, an aspect rarely scrutinized in the area of sonication‐induced gelation. Furthermore, in order to probe the effects of nanoscale substrates on the sonication‐induced self‐assembly, a minuscule amount of single‐walled carbon nanotubes was added, which leads to acceleration of the self‐assembly through a heterogeneous nucleation process that ultimately affords a supramolecular gel with nanotape‐like morphology. This study demonstrates that self‐assembly of functional dyes can be judiciously manipulated by an external stimulus and can be further controlled by the addition of carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

The complex ac dynamic magnetic susceptibility was used to study the influence of temperature on critical fields in polycrystalline ZnCr2Se4 spinel. An antiferromagnetic order with a Néel temperature TN=20.7 K and a strong ferromagnetic exchange evidenced by a positive Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=55.1 K were established. An increasing static magnetic field shifts TN to lower temperatures while a susceptibility peak at Tm in the paramagnetic region—to higher temperatures. The non-zero and negative values both of the second and third harmonics of susceptibility suggest only a parallel spin coupling in ferromagnetic clusters in the range between the Néel and Curie-Weiss temperatures. Below TN the magnetic field dependence of susceptibility, χac(H), shows two peaks at critical fields Hc1 and Hc2. The values of Hc1 decrease slightly with temperature while the values of Hc2 drop rapidly with temperature. The strong changes of Hc2 temperature induced are mainly responsible for a spin frustration of the re-entrant type in the spinel under study.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of Zn1-xMxCr2Se4 (M=In, Ni, Al, Ga) in high magnetic field up to 14 T and at low temperatures are presented. ZnCr2Se4 belongs to the group of normal spinels with Zn2+ located at tetrahedral (A) sites and Cr3+ occupying (B) sites of the cubic close-packed array of selenium anions. Magnetic order in the compounds is connected with superexchange interactions, which are positive between the nearest neighbors and negative between the next-nearest neighbors. Substitution of one of the cations of spinel with another 3d metal causes essential changes in the cation distribution and physical properties.  相似文献

We examined the effects of metallic silver island films on resonance energy transfer (RET) between a donor and acceptor bound to double helical DNA. The donor was 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) and the acceptor was propidium iodide (PI). Proximity of the labeled DNA to the silver particles resulted in a dramatic increase in RET as seen from the emission spectra and the donor decay times. Proximity to silver particles results in an increase of the Förster distance from 35 Å an to an apparent value of 166 Å. These results suggest a new type of DNA hybridization assays based on RET over distances much longer than the free-space Forster distance.  相似文献

We report recent achievements in metal-enhanced fluorescence from our laboratory. Several fluorophore systems have been studied on metal particle-coated surfaces and in colloid suspensions. In particular, we describe a distance dependent enhancement on silver island films (SIFs), release of self-quenching of fluorescence near silver particles, and the applications of fluorescence enhancement near metalized surfaces to bioassays. We discuss a number of methods for various shaped silver particle deposition on surfaces.  相似文献
