Time-resolved magnetic resonance experiments (TREPR and CIDNP) are used to investigate previously unobserved redox chemistry of the surfactant dioctyl sulfosuccinate ester (AOT) using the photoexcited triplet state of anthraquinone 2,6-disulfonate (3AQDS*). Several different free radicals resulting from two independent oxidation pathways (electron transfer and hydrogen abstraction) are observed. These include the radical ions of AQDS and sulfite from electron-transfer processes, carbon-centered radicals from H-atom abstraction reactions, and an additional carbon-centered radical formed by electron transfer from the AOT sulfonate head group followed by the loss of SO3. The radicals exhibit intense chemically induced dynamic electron spin polarization (CIDEP) in their TREPR spectra. The intensity ratios of the observed TREPR signals for each radical depend on the water pool size and temperature, which in turn affect the predominant CIDEP mechanism. All signal carriers are accounted for by simulation, and CIDNP results provide strong supporting evidence for the assignments.  相似文献

Nickel(II)-xylylbicyclam is a potent anti-HIV agent and binds strongly to the CXCR4 co-receptor. We have investigated configurational equilibria of Ni(II)-cyclam derivatives, since these are important for receptor recognition. Crystallographic studies show that both trans and cis configurations are readily formed: [Ni(cyclam)(OAc)(2)] x H(2)O adopts the trans-III configuration with axial monodentate acetates, as does [Ni(benzylcyclam)(NO(3))(2)] with axial nitrate ligands, whereas [Ni(benzylcyclam)(OAc)](OAc)2 x H(2)O has an unusual folded cis-V configuration with Ni(II) coordination to bidentate acetate. UV/Vis and NMR studies show that the octahedral trans-III configuration slowly converts to square-planar trans-I in aqueous solution. For Ni(II)-xylylbicyclam, a mixture of cis-V and trans-I configurations was detected in solution. X-ray diffraction studies showed that crystals of lysozyme soaked in Ni(II)-cyclam or Ni(II) (2)-xylylbicyclam contain two major binding sites, one involving Ni(II) coordination to Asp101 and hydrophobic interactions between the cyclam ring and Trp62 and Trp63, and the second hydrophobic interactions with Trp123. For Ni(II)-cyclam bound to Asp101, the cis-V configuration predominates.  相似文献

The syntheses of [FeL][BF(4)](2).H(2)O, [FeL][ClO(4)](2).H(2)O, [FeL][NO(3)](2).CH(3)NO(2) and [FeL][CF(3)SO(3)](2) (L = tris(4-{pyrazol-3-yl}-3-aza-3-butenyl)amine) are described. The isostructural BF(4)(-) and ClO(4)(-) salts are high-spin between 5-300 K, while the other two compounds are high-spin at room temperature but undergo gradual high-->low spin transitions upon cooling. For [FeL][NO(3)](2) this transition is centred at 139 K and proceeds to near-completeness, while for [FeL][CF(3)SO(3)](2) it is centred at 144 K and only proceeds to 50% conversion. The CF(3)SO(3)(-) salt also undergoes spin-crossover centred at 200 K in (CD(3))(2)CO solution, and exhibits dynamic inversion of its helical ligand conformation. All these compounds except the triflate salt have been crystallographically characterised, and show capped trigonal antiprismatic [6 + 1] coordination geometries. The NO(3)(-) and CF(3)SO(3)(-) salts undergo quantitative conversion to trapped, high-spin excited states upon irradiation with a green laser at 10 K (the LIESST effect; LIESST = Light-Induced Excited Spin State Trapping). The thermal stabilities of their LIESST excited states (T(LIESST) = 80-82 K) resemble those found for iron(ii) complexes of bidentate N-heterocyclic ligands. Hence, the LIESST properties of [FeL](2+) are those of a complex of three rigid bidentate domains linked by a flexible spacer, rather than of a single encapsulating podand.  相似文献

The red scorpion, Mesobuthus tamulus, is found in two distinct biotopes within the Indian state of Maharastra-a tropical, sea-level biotope and a semi-arid biotope, up to 600 m. Scorpions from these two geographical areas show marked differences in toxicity. Using mass spectrometry, we have shown biotope-specific variation in the expression of peptides from scorpions collected from these two distinct areas. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOFMS) and reversed-phase liquid chromatography/electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS) were assessed as techniques for obtaining mass fingerprint data. On line LC/ESI-MS was judged to be the method of choice and unique biotope-specific mass fingerprints, with key diagnostic markers, were obtained.  相似文献

This paper describes the first material to show the well-known light-induced excited spin-state trapping (LIESST) effect, the metastable excited state of which relaxes at a temperature approaching its thermal spin-crossover. Cooling polycrystalline [FeL(2)][BF(4)](2).x H(2)O (L=2,6-bis[3-methylpyrazol-1-yl]pyridine; x=0-1/3) at 1 K min(-1) leads to a cooperative spin transition, taking place in two steps centered at 147 and 105 K, that is only 54 % complete by magnetic susceptibility. Annealing the sample at 100 K for 2 h results in a slow decrease in chi(M)T to zero, showing that the remainder of the spin-crossover can proceed, but is kinetically slow. The crystalline high- and fully low-spin phases of [FeL(2)][BF(4)](2).x H(2)O are isostructural (C2/c, Z=8), but the spin-crossover proceeds via a mixed-spin intermediate phase that has a triple unit cell (C2/c, Z=24). The water content of the crystals is slowly lost on exposure to air without causing decomposition. However, the high-spin/mixed-spin transition in the crystal proceeds at 110+/-20 K when x=1/3 and 155+/-5 K when x=0, which correspond to the two spin-crossover steps seen in the bulk material. The high-spin state of the compound is generated quantitatively by irradiation of the low-spin or the mixed-spin phase at 10 K, and in approximately 70 % yield by rapidly quenching the sample to 10 K. This metastable high-spin state relaxes back to the low-spin ground state at 87+/-1 K in one, not two, steps, and without passing through the intermediate phase. This implies that thermal spin-crossover and thermally activated high-spin-low-spin relaxation in this material become decoupled, thus avoiding the physical impossibility of T(LIESST) being greater than T(1/2).  相似文献

Solar UV radiation is known to cause immune suppression, believed to be a critical factor in cutaneous carcinogenesis. Although the mechanism is not entirely understood, DNA damage is clearly involved. Sunscreens function by attenuating the UV radiation that reaches the epidermis. However, once DNA damage ensues, repair mechanisms become essential for prevention of malignant transformation. DNA repair enzymes have shown efficacy in reducing cutaneous neoplasms among xeroderma pigmentosum patients. In vitro studies suggest that RNA fragments increase the resistance of human keratinocytes to UVB damage and enhance DNA repair but in vivo data are lacking. This study aimed to determine the effect of topical formulations containing either DNA repair enzymes ( Micrococcus luteus ) or RNA fragments (UVC-irradiated rabbit globin mRNA) on UV-induced local contact hypersensitivity (CHS) suppression in humans as measured in vivo using the contact allergen dinitrochlorobenzene. Immunohistochemistry was also employed in skin biopsies to evaluate the level of thymine dimers after UV. Eighty volunteers completed the CHS portion. A single 0.75 minimum erythema dose (MED) simulated solar radiation exposure resulted in 64% CHS suppression in unprotected subjects compared with unirradiated sensitized controls. In contrast, UV-induced CHS suppression was reduced to 19% with DNA repair enzymes, and 7% with RNA fragments. Sun protection factor (SPF) testing revealed an SPF of 1 for both formulations, indicating that the observed immune protection cannot be attributed to sunscreen effects. Biopsies from an additional nine volunteers showed an 18% decrease in thymine dimers by both DNA repair enzymes and RNA fragments, relative to unprotected UV-irradiated skin. These results suggest that RNA fragments may be useful as a photoprotective agent with in vivo effects comparable to DNA repair enzymes.  相似文献

This study examines the electronic coupling between quantum dots (QDs) and molecules on their surfaces as a function of the modality of their interaction. As a probe, the energy transfer (ET) between CdSe QDs and phthalocyanines (Pcs) was monitored and evaluated with regard to the functionalization of the axial phthalocyanine ligand, bulkiness of the functional group bridging the QD donor and Pc acceptor, and the number of the functionalized axial ligands. New silicon PCs and their conjugates with CdSe QDs were synthesized. The ET efficiency and kinetics were studied by steady state and femtosecond time-resolved absorption spectroscopy. We observed a decrease in ET efficiency with the increase in functional group bulkiness, which could be explained by increasing steric hindrance between the ET pair. In addition, a higher ET efficiency was observed for amino and thiol functionalized Pcs compared to Pcs without functional group on the axial alkyl chain.  相似文献

(ButO)3Mo triple bond N and W2(OBut)6(M triple bond M) react in hydrocarbons to form Mo2(OBut)6(M triple bond M) and (ButO)3W triple bond N via the reactive intermediate MoW(OBut)6(M triple bond M). (ButO)3W triple bond N and CH3C triple bond N15 react in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at room temperature to give an equilibrium mixture involving (ButO)3W triple bond N15 and CH3C triple bond N. The (ButO)3W triple bond N compound is similarly shown to act as a catalyst for N15-atom scrambling between MeC13 triple bond N15 and PhC triple bond N to give a mixture of MeC13 triple bond N and PhC triple bond N15. From studies of degenerate scrambling of N atoms involving (ButO)3W triple bond N and MeC13 triple bond N in THF-d8 by 13C(1H) NMR spectroscopy, the reaction was found to be first order in acetonitrile and the activation parameters were estimated to be DeltaH = 13.4(7) kcal/mol and DeltaS = -32(2) eu. A similar reaction is observed for (ButO)3Mo triple bond N and CH3C triple bond N15 upon heating in THF-d8. The reaction is suppressed in pyridine solutions and not observed for the dimeric [(ButMe2SiO)3W triple bond N]2. The reaction pathway has been investigated by calculations employing density functional theory on the model compounds (MeO)3M triple bond N and CH3C triple bond N where M = Mo and W. The transition state was found to involve a product of the 2 + 2 cycloaddition of M triple bond N and C triple bond N, a planar metalladiazacyclobutadiene. This resembles the pathway calculated for alkyne metathesis involving (MeO)3W triple bond CMe, which modeled the metathesis of (ButO)3W triple bond CBut. The calculations also predict that the energy of the transition state is notably higher for M = Mo relative to M = W.  相似文献

The preparation of (R, R)- and (S, S)-salen Al(OR) complexes, where R = Et, CH2(i)Pr, CH2(t)Bu, and CH2CH(S)MeCl, are reported, along with their reactions with rac-lactide (salen = N, N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediamino). Rapid, reversible coordination of LA to the salen metal complex is observed, and it is shown that the relative rates of alcohol/alkoxide exchange are comparable to the NMR time scale while the rate of chain transfer involving (R, R)-salenAl(O-R-R) and (S, S)-salenAl(O-S-R) is much faster than the initial rate of ring opening of the LA monomer. For a primary [Al-OR] moiety, the ring opening of rac-LA is much faster than the ring-opening polymerization/enchainment of LA, and in the initial ring-opening event, the diastereoselectivity is dependent on the solvent, the chirality of the salen ligand, and the OR group. Irrespective of the initiator group OR or the solvent, the system moves to a pseudostatic equilibrium concentration of L- and D-LA which is dependent on the nature of the chirality of the salen ligand. Further studies show that the relative rate of trans-esterification is slower than the rate of LA enchainment and that the rate of epimerization is the slowest reaction in the system. Adventitious water leads to loss of catalytic activity and formation of the inert oxo-bridged compound [(salen)Al]2(mu-O) which has been structurally characterized.  相似文献
