In a nuclear magnetic-resonance (NMR) experiment, the spin density operator may be regarded as a superposition of irreducible spherical tensor operators. Each of these spin operators evolves during the NMR experiment and may give rise to an NMR signal at a later time. The NMR signal at the end of a pulse sequence may, therefore, be regarded as a superposition of spherical components, each derived from a different spherical tensor operator. We describe an experimental method, called spherical tensor analysis (STA), which allows the complete resolution of the NMR signal into its individual spherical components. The method is demonstrated on a powder of a (13)C-labeled amino acid, exposed to a pulse sequence generating a double-quantum effective Hamiltonian. The propagation of spin order through the space of spherical tensor operators is revealed by the STA procedure, both in static and rotating solids. Possible applications of STA to the NMR of liquids, liquid crystals, and solids are discussed. 相似文献

Abstract— Previous studies (Biolo et al., Photochem. Photobiol. 59, 362-365, 1994) showed that liposome-delivered Si(IV)-na-phthalocyanine (SiNc) photosensitizes B16 pigmented melanoma subcutaneously transplanted in C57 mice to the action of 776 nm light. However, the efficacy of the phototreatment was limited by a lack of selectivity of tumor targeting by SiNc as well as by incomplete necrosis of the neoplastic mass. The present investigations show that the use of a different delivery system (Cremophor emulsion vs liposomes of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine) causes no significant increase in the selectivity of tumor targeting for three injected doses of SiNc (0.5, 1, 2 mg/kg). However, upon 776 nm light irradiation (300 mW/cm2 ; 520 J/cm2 ), the delay in the rate of tumor growth was maximal (7-8 days) for the highest naphthalocyanine dose. On the other hand, a remarkable improvement in the tumor response was obtained by inducing an intratumoral temperature increase to 44°C immediately after PDT. The thermal effect appeared to be due to photoexcitation of melanin by 776 nm light (550 mW/cm2 ; 520 J/cm2 ) and subsequent partial conversion of absorbed energy into heat. 相似文献

The specific rates of solvolysis of benzoyl fluoride have been determined at 25.0 degrees C in 37 pure and binary solvents. Together with seven values from the literature, these give a satisfactory correlation over the full range of solvents when the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation is applied. The sensitivities to changes in solvent nucleophilicity and solvent ionizing power are very similar to those for octyl fluoroformate, suggesting that the addition step of an addition-elimination mechanism is rate determining. In the solvent-composition region where benzoyl chloride also shows bimolecular solvolysis, the appreciable k(Cl)/k(F) values are proposed as being primarily due to a more efficient ground-state stabilization for the fluoride. 相似文献

The indirect evidence for a change in nebulization efficiency upon discrete sample nebulization has been critically appraised. Direct measurements of the effect of sample size upon nebulization efficiency have been made, by exploiting the reproducible droplet size obtained on allowing free-fall of droplets from a peristaltic pump outlet into a polypropylene capillary funnel. The observed enhancements in efficiency with decreasing sample size are discussed in relation to changes in measured aerosol droplet size distributions. The latter also explain the reduction in the incidence and extent of certain types of interferences. 相似文献
