Diode laser spectra of cis-HONO near 850 cm−1 and trans-HONO near 1700 cm−1

Tunable diode laser spectra have been measured for the ν₄ band of cis-HONO near 850 cm^?1 and the ν₂ band of rans-HONO near 1700 cm^?1. The ν₄ band is completely unperturbed and 355 well-resolved transitions have been fit with a standard deviation of 0.0007 cm^?1. The ν₂ band appears to have some small perturbations, but about 190 transitions have been fit with a standard deviation of 0.0027 cm^?1. Rotational and centrifugal distortion constants are given for both bands.     

Biooxidation of (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin into 3,4-dihydroxyflavan derivatives by the endophytic fungus Diaporthe sp. isolated from a tea plant

The microbial transformation of (+)-catechin (1) and (-)-epicatechin (2) by endophytic fungi isolated from a tea plant was investigated. It was found that the endophytic filamentous fungus Diaporthe sp. transformed them (1, 2) into the 3,4-cis-dihydroxyflavan derivatives, (+)-(2R,3S,4S)-3,4,5,7,3',4'-hexahydroxyflavan (3) and (-)-(2R,3R,4R)-3,4,5,7,3',4'-hexahydroxyflavan (7), respectively, whereas (-)-catechin (ent-1) and (+)-epicatechin (ent-2) with a 2S-phenyl group resisted the biooxidation.     

1,4‐Bis[2‐(4‐ferrocenylphenyl)ethynyl]anthraquinone from synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction

The title compound, [Fe₂(C₅H₅)₂(C₄₀H₂₂O₂)] or 1,4‐(FcPh)₂Aq [where FcPh is 2‐(4‐ferrocenylphenyl)ethynyl and Aq is anthraquinone], was synthesized in an attempt to obtain a new solvent‐incorporating porous material with a large void space. Thermodynamic data for 1,4‐(FcPh)₂Aq show a phase transition at approximately 430 K. The crystal structure of solvent‐free 1,4‐(FcPh)₂Aq was determined at temperatures of 90, 300 and 500 K using synchrotron powder diffraction data. A direct‐space method using a genetic algorithm was employed for structure solution. Charge densities calculated from observed structure factors by the maximum entropy method were employed for model improvement. The final models were obtained through multistage Rietveld refinements. In both phases, the structures of which differ only subtly, the planar Aq fragments are stacked alternately in opposite orientations, forming a one‐dimensional column. The FcPh arms lie between the stacks and fill the remaining space, leaving no voids. C—H...π interactions between the Ph and Fc fragments mediate crystal packing and stabilization.     

Efficient Synthesis of Polycyclic γ-Lactams by Catalytic Carbonylation of Ene-Imines via Nickelacycle Intermediates

The nickel(0)-catalyzed carbonylative cycloaddition of 1,5- and 1,6-ene-imines with carbon monoxide (CO) is reported. Key to this reaction is the efficient regeneration of the catalytically active nickel(0) species from nickel carbonyl complexes such as [Ni(CO)₃L]. A variety of tri- and tetracyclic γ-lactams were thus prepared in excellent yields with 100 % atom efficiency. Preliminary results on asymmetric derivatives promise potential in the synthesis of enantioenriched polycyclic γ-lactams.     

High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Characterization of the Role of Inorganic Pyrophosphatase in Regulating the Reaction of Uridine 5′-Triphosphate with Glucose 1-Monophosphate

Abstract

Inorganic pyrophosphatase (EC 3. 6. 1. 1) drived the reaction of uridine 5′-triphosphate with glucose 1-monophosphate in the direction of uridine 5′-diphosphoglucose formation.     

A Convenient General Access to α-Sulfenylated Acetophenones and Alkanones

Friedel-Crafts acylation of arenes with methylthio- (1) or phenylthio-acetyl chloride (2) provides ready access to α-methylthio- or α-phenylthio-substituted acetophenones. The acyl chlorides 1 and 2 reacted also with organoaluminum reagents to give α-sulfenylated alkanones.
