This paper describes an interactive modelling, simulation, animation, and real-time control (MoSART) environment for a class of ‘cart-pendulum’ electromechanical systems that may be used to enhance learning within differential equations and linear algebra classes. The environment is useful for conveying fundamental mathematical/systems concepts through computer-aided analysis, design, graphical visualization, and 3D animation. Referred to as Cart-Pendulum Control3D-Lab1, the environment is based on Microsoft Windows/Visual C++/Direct-3D and MATLAB/Simulink2. Pull-down menus provide access to systems/models/control laws, exogenous signals, parameters, animation models and visual indicators, a suite of (easy-to-modify) Simulant diagrams containing models and control laws, MATLAB m-files for detailed analysis and design, and detailed documentation for each of the above. Three blocks enable animation, joystick inputs, and real-time animation within Simulant. Examples are presented to illustrate the utility of the environment as a valuable tool for analysing/visualizing the above class of electromechanical systems and for enhancing mathematics instruction. 相似文献

We consider a steady flow driven by pushing a finger of gasinto a highly shear-thinning power-law fluid, with exponentn, in a Hele-Shaw channel. We formulate the problem in termsof the streamfunction , which satisfies the p-Laplacian equation (with ), and investigate travelling wave solutions in the large-n (extreme shear-thinning) limit.We take a Legendre transform of the free-boundary problem for, which reduces it to a linear problem on a fixed domain. The solution to this problem is foundby using matched asymptotic expansions and the resulting shapeof the finger deduced (being, to leading order, a semi-infinitestrip). We present a versatile and compact electron beam driven source for alkali metal atoms, which can be implemented in cryostats. With a heat load of less than 10?mW, the heat dissipation normalized to the atoms loaded into the magneto-optical trap (MOT) is about a factor 1000 smaller than for a typical alkali metal dispenser. The measured linear scaling of the MOT loading rate with electron current observed in the experiments indicates that electron stimulated desorption is the corresponding mechanism to release the atoms. 相似文献

Abstract Humic substances are the major organic constituents of soils and sediments. They also occur in small concentrations in natural surface waters and groundwaters. They form through the breakdown of plant and animal tissues by chemical and biological processes that tend to produce complex chemical structures that are more stable than the original material from which they were derived. The efrapeptin family of peptide antibiotics produced by the fungus Tolypocladium niveum, and the neo‐efrapeptins from the fungus Geotrichum candidumare inhibitors of F1‐ATPase with promising antitumor, antimalaria, and insecticidal activity. They are rich in Cα‐dialkyl amino acids (Aib, Iva, Acc) and contain one β‐alanine and several pipecolic acid residues. The C‐terminus bears an unusual heterocyclic cationic cap. The efrapeptins C–G and three analogues of efrapeptin C were synthesized using α‐azido carboxylic acids as masked amino acid derivatives. All compounds display inhibitory activity toward F1‐ATPase. The conformation in solution of the peptides was investigated with electronic CD spectroscopy, FT‐IR spectroscopy, and VCD spectroscopy. All efrapeptins and most efrapeptin analogues were shown to adopt helical conformations in solution. In the case of efrapeptin C, VCD spectra proved that a 310‐helix prevails. In addition, efrapeptin C was conformationally studied in detail with NMR and molecular modeling. Besides NOE distance restraints, residual dipolar couplings (RDC) observed upon partial alignment with stretched PDMS gels were used for the conformational analysis and confirmed the 310‐helical conformation. 相似文献

We studied the complexation of meso-tetrakis(4-N-methylpyridyl)porphyrin (TMPyP) with HeLa nucleosomes and compared it to our earlier results on T7 phage nucleoprotein complex (NP) and isolated DNA. To identify binding modes and relative concentrations of the bound TMPyP forms, the porphyrin absorption spectra were analyzed at various base pair/porphyrin ratios. Spectral decomposition and circular dichroism measurements proved that the two main binding modes of TMPyP, i.e., external binding and intercalation occur also in the nucleosomes. The DNA superstructure maintained by the proteins decreases its accessibility for TMPyP similarly in both nucleoproteins. A difference is observed between the partitioning of the two binding modes: in the case of nucleosome the ratio of intercalation to groove-binding is changed from 60/40 to 40/60 as determined for T7 NP and for isolated DNA-s. Using UV and CD melting studies, we revealed that TMPyP destabilizes the DNA–protein interaction in the nucleosomes but not in the T7 phage. Lastly, photoinduced reaction of bound TMPyP caused alterations in DNA structures and DNA–protein interactions within both nucleoprotein complexes; the nucleosomes were found to be more sensitive to the photoreaction. 相似文献
