The L3/L2 white-line intensity ratio in transition-metal oxides deviates widely from the statistical value of 2 : 1 but shows interesting systematics. In a series of oxides of a given metal, the ratio reaches a maximum for the d5 configuration (e.g. MnO) and a minimum for the d0 configuration (e.g. KMnO4). In a series of monoxides, sesquioxides and dioxides of different metals, the ratio is again a maximum at the d5 configuration and decreases as the configuration changes towards d0 or d10. Our results, obtained by electron energy-loss spectroscopy, carried out in an electron microscope, are interpreted on an atomic mechanism involving spin-spin coupling. According to this model, the L2 transition probability decreases in the progression d0 to d5 whereas the L3 transition probability decreases beyond d5. 相似文献

A procedure has been developed for the determination of ziram (zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate), ferbam (ferric dimethyldithiocarbamate) and zineb (zinc ethylenebisdithiocarbamate) after their decomposition and extraction of the diphenylcarbazone complexes of the zinc or iron into isobutyl methyl ketone. These complexes absorb strongly at 520 nm. The method is rapid, sensitive and selective and can be used for the determination of these dithiocarbamates in commercial and synthetic mixtures. 相似文献

A new method has been developed for the determination of oxalic acid. This depends upon the photochemical oxidation of oxalic acid in. the presence of ferric sulphate. The method involves exposing a measured volume of oxalic acid solution, with an excess of ferric alum and some sulphuric acid,tosunlight in quartz or pyrex beaker for 15 to 30 minutes. The progress of the reaction is indicated by the disappearance of the yellow colour of the ferricoxalate complex from the solution. After completion of the reaction, the ferrous salt formed is determined using standard sodium vanadate and either diphenylbenXXXdine or diphenylamme-sulphonate as internal indicator in the presence of sufficient phosphoric acid. Photoelectron spectra of several substituted dimethylanilines, nitrobenzenes, acetophenones and nitrosobenzenes have been studied with a view to examine the electronic effects of substituents on the various φ and n levels. The results are discussed in the light of molecular orbital calculations and electronic absorption spectra. Correlation of substituent effects on the IE's with π-electron densities and Hammett substituent constants has enabled rationalization of all available data on mono- and disubstituted benzenes. The N-(p-nitrophenoxy-carbonyl) derivatives of glycine, DL -alanine and DL -leucine are transformed by the action of pyridine into azasuccinic, 3-methyl-2-azasuccinic and 3-isobutyl-2-azasuccinic anhydride, respectively. These cyclisations occur probably via the intermediate N-carbamoyl-pyridinium cation , the rate of cyclisation seems to depend on the concentration of the intermediate in the form of the dipolar ion , i.e. the ionised carboxyl is necessary for the reaction. In γ-collidine the cyclisation occurs very slowly; this is attributed to the slowness due to steric hindrance of the production of N-carbamoyl-γ-collidinium cation and its instability. The azasuccinic anhydrides mentioned polycondense, yielding the corresponding polyglycine, poly-DL -alanine and poly-DL -leucine. This reaction too is catalysed by pyridine; it can also be effected by γ-collidine, but the efficacity of the latter in comparison with pyridine is even less than in the catalysis of the cyclisation described above. N-(p-nitrophenoxy-carbonyl)-glycine reacts with lysozyme in the presence of pyridine; several glycine residues are introduced into the enzyme molecule, the product being insoluble and poorly active. 相似文献

The mass spectra of eight 1,2,4-triazole derivaties have been recorded and found tao reveal extensive hydrogen and skeletal migrations. The structures of the fragments have been confirmed by deuterium labelling and exact mass measurement. Kinetics of decomposition of the precipitates of the ZnO&2sbndAl2O3 system, prepared by coprecipitation and mechanical mixing of the individual precipitates, have been studied. The decomposition of zinc basic carbonate is a first order rate process with an activation energy of 34.5 kcal/mole (Coats and Redfern equation). The decomposition of aluminium hydroxide is also best described as a first order rate process with one break in the Coats and Redfern plot corresponding to activation energies of 29.4 and 8.3 kcal/mole respectively. The entire course of decomposition of coprecipitated as well as mechanically mixed samples cannot be described by any one of the many rate equations available. Consequently, the Coats and Redfern equation has been employed. The plots indicate one or two breaks and thus two to three values of activation energy are reported. From the results it is to be concluded that decomposition of these precipitates is a heterogeneous process. The first step is definitely the decomposition of zinc basic carbonate followed by decomposition of aluminium hydroxide and/or interaction of the two precipitates resulting in the formation of “precursor” to spinel. The results of our earlier investigation on the same system (especially the formation of precursors) are well supported by the results reported in this investigation. p]A new equation (a modified form of the Elovich equation) has been proposed for such heterogeneous decomposition processes. The proposed equation also appears to be the general form of the equations where diffusion is the rate controlling process. 相似文献
