In this study, the potential sorption capacity of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was investigated as a means of removing fluoride from the drinking water of a number of regions in Iran and from experimental solutions. The test was conducted in both batch and continuous operation modes. Batch mode experiments were used to study the effect of parameters such as pH, contact time, ionic strength, adsorbent dose, adsorbent capacity, and the presence of foreign anions on the efficiency of fluoride removal. The results showed that the highest level of sorption occurs at pH 5 (about 94% at 18 min). The ionic strength of the solutions and the presence of co-anions such as chloride, nitrate, sulfate, hydrogen carbonate, perchlorate had a negligible effect on the sorption of F onto MWCNTs. Sorption capacity measurements revealed that MWCNTs have a saturation capacity of 3.5 mg of F per gram. Sorption data were best fitted with the Fruendlich sorption isotherm equation, which indicates that F tends to be adsorbed on MWCNTs in a multilayered manner. Experiments using Kohbanan city drinking water, which contains the highest level of F among the drinking water samples studied, showed that MWCNTs can remove over 85% of fluoride content.  相似文献

Abstract  

1-Methylimidazolium trifluoroacetate ([Hmim]TFA) is reported as a cost-effective catalyst for a simple and environmentally benign hetero-Michael reaction. [Hmim]TFA works both as reaction medium and catalyst. The reaction is applicable to various aromatic sulfur and nitrogen nucleophiles. This method has advantages such as high yields, short reaction time, and simple workup. The catalyst could be recycled several times without any loss of activity.  相似文献

A metal-organic framework nanocomposite was synthesized and applied to speciation analysis of Se(IV) and Se(VI). The sorbent is composed of MIL-101(Cr) and magnetite nanoparticles modified with dithiocarbamate. It is capably of selectively extracting Se(IV) at pH?=?1.85, while Se(VI) remains in solution. The total amount of selenium can then be determined by reducing Se(VI) to Se(IV) and also extracting it. The extraction parameters were optimized by employing design-of-experiments methodology. Selenium was then quantified by electrothermal AAS. Figures of merit include (a) a 10 ng·L?1 limit of detection, (b) a linear response in the 30 ng·L?1 to 10 μg·L?1 concentration range, and (a) a relative standard deviation of <11.5% for Se(IV). The method was validated by analyzing certified reference materials (water and tomato leaves). It was also applied to the speciation analysis of Se(IV) and Se(VI) in (spiked) water samples and of total selenium in agricultural samples.

Nickel modified NiOOH electrodes were used for the electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol in alkaline solutions. The electro-oxidation of ethanol in a 1 mol/L NaOH solution at different concentrations of ethanol was studied by ac impedance spectroscopy. Electrooxidation of ethanol on Ni shows negative resistance on impedance plots. The impedance shows different patterns at different applied anodic potential. The influence of the electrode potential on impedance was studied and a quantitative explanation for the impedance of ethanol oxidation was given by means of a proposed mathematical model. At potentials higher than 0.52 V(vs. Ag/AgCl), a pseudoinductive behavior was observed, but at those higher than 0.57 V, impedance patterns were reversed to the second and third quadrants. The conditions required for the reversing of impedance pattern were delineated with the impedance model.  相似文献

In this study, an acidic nicotine-based ionic liquid supported on magnetic nanoparticles ([NicTC]HSO4@MNPs) was synthesized and characterized by different techniques. The activity of this catalyst was evaluated in a multi-component reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazole , aldehydes / dialdehydes and β-ketoesters/1,3-diketones to afford a series of novel mono- and bis-4H-pyrimido[2,1-b]benzothiazole derivatives. In addition, mild reaction conditions, high yields, excellent selectivity as well as easy recovery and reusability of the catalyst, make this method an economic and environmentally-benign process.  相似文献

The 2,4,6‐tris(2‐pyridyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine (tptz) undergoes hydrolysis in the presence of VO(SO4) in an alkaline solution, affording mainly the bis(2‐pyridyl carbonyl)amid ) VO2 complex, designated as [VO2(bpca)]. Single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography revealed that the coordination of V in complex is a distorted square‐pyramid coordinated with three nitrogen of bis(2‐pyridyl carbonyl)amid ) ligand and two binding oxygen atoms. The prepared complex which successfully supported on modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and (3‐aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane(APTMS)was designated as Fe3O4@SiO2@APTMS@[VO2(bpca)] complex (nanocatalyst). The complex and nanocatalyst were characterized by means of FT‐IR, XRD, VSM, SEM and TEM. The catalytic activity of [VO2(bpca)] complex and Fe3O4@SiO2@APTMS@complex as catalysts 1 and 2 were evaluated by the epoxidation of geraniol , 3‐methyl‐2‐buten‐1‐ol , trans‐2‐hexen‐1‐ol and 1‐octen‐3‐ol with 70–98% conversions and 95–100% selectivities. Based on the obtained results, the heterogeneity and reusability of the catalyst seems promising. In addition, the in vitro antibacterial activity of [VO2 (bpca)] complex have also been evaluated and compared to the activities of other vanadium complexes, tptz ligand and two standard antibacterial drugs, Nalidixic acid and Vancomycin.  相似文献
