Short α‐peptides with less than 10 residues generally display a low propensity to nucleate stable helical conformations. While various strategies to stabilize peptide helices have been previously reported, the ability of non‐peptide helical foldamers to stabilize α‐helices when fused to short α‐peptide segments has not been investigated. Towards this end, structural investigations into a series of chimeric oligomers obtained by joining aliphatic oligoureas to the C‐ or N‐termini of α‐peptides are described. All chimeras were found to be fully helical, with as few as 2 (or 3) urea units sufficient to propagate an α‐helical conformation in the fused peptide segment. The remarkable compatibility of α‐peptides with oligoureas described here, along with the simplicity of the approach, highlights the potential of interfacing natural and non‐peptide backbones as a means to further control the behavior of α‐peptides. 相似文献

A new configuration of distorted homogeneous turbulence is investigated in the domain of rotation-dominated elliptical flows. The experimental results are compared with exact numerical solutions obtained in Fourier space for the linear part of the problem. The inherently periodic character of the flow results in typical oscillatory variations of the anisotropy and the pressure-strain correlations. A new two-point closure approach of the EDQNM type is proposed for the nonlinear problem; it is based on a representation of the spectral tensor by scalar functions expanded in terms of spherical harmonics. 相似文献

A systematic study of the ultrafast decay of metalloporphyrins containing various transition metals with partially filled 3d shells and zinc (3d filled) is reported here after excitation in the second excited state of the system (Soret band). Both time-of-flight mass spectrometry and velocity map imaging have been used for detection. A general biexponential decay with a short time constant tau1 approximately 100 fs is observed for the transition metal porphyrins, followed by a tau2 approximately 1 ps time decay. This evolution is interpreted as a porphyrin-to-metal charge transfer, tau1, followed by a back transfer, tau2, which leads to an excited state (d,d*) localized on the metal. These conclusions stem from the different behaviors of zinc and the transition metal porphyrins. A porphyrin-to-metal charge transfer model is chosen to describe the relaxation mechanism, based upon the fact that transition metalloporphyrins can accept electrons on the metal site, in contrast to zinc porphyrins. 相似文献

The minority carrier continuity equation has been solved with the Green’s function approach in a N/P photodiode under the low-level injection assumption. The analytical solution obtained with this approach depends on the three spatial coordinates and on time. The diffusion and the collection of the excess minority carriers have been studied during the transitional period corresponding to very short integration times. The internal Quantum Efficiency and the diffusion Modulation Transfer Function have been calculated according to time. The simulations showed that they evolve with time until their steady-state values. When the integration time is very short, this evolution has to be taken into account for the estimation of the sensitivity of a photodiode and the contrast on an image of a sensor based on several adjacent N/P-type photodiodes. 相似文献

We report an efficient synthetic approach to phospha-isosteres of important intermediates of the shikimic acid pathway by the application of the Hunsdiecker-Barton halodecarboxylation to cyclohexenylcarboxylic acids. As examples, phospha-shikimic acid, its 3-dehydro derivative and the respective monomethyl esters were synthesized. Abstract— The effect of the protonation state of a novel aqueous soluble N,N'-di(2-phosphonoethyl)-l,4,5,8-naphthalene-diimide (DPN) on its spectroscopic properties is studied. In aqueous solution DPN depicts linear Lambert-Beer plots up to the solubility limits at pH 1.0, 7.1 and 10.1, in accordance with its solubilization as a monomer. A small increase in the extinction coefficients with pH is observed. Conversely a strong decrease in the fluorescence emission yields are observed with the increase in pH. These results are shown to originate from the distinct efficiencies of the intersystem crossing of DPN as a function of the net charge on the phosphono moieties. Accordingly, from the decrease in fluorescence emission, titration curves were obtained resulting in two pKa of –1.5 and 6.7 in agreement with the potentiometric analysis. In parallel monitoring the amount of heat deposited in the system shows an inverse pattern, that is, increase in the thermal tensing time-resolved signal with pH. Laser flash photolysis and thermal Iensing data in the absence and presence of oxygen show the interplay of an intersystem crossing process with the protonation state of the dye. The changes in protonation from neutral to two- and four-fold charged species are accompanied by an enhancing effect on the naphthalenediimide ring toward spin inversion (triplet formation) and consequently in different fluorescence yields 相似文献

The expected traffic growth from new broadband services will require network capacities that can be beneficially provided by optical WDM transport networks. Optical packet techniques are essential for large networks to provide flexibility and granularity. A layered network architecture with a transparent optical layer and optical packet layers has been elaborated. Four switching concept options for large optical ATM switch fabrics in the public network and small access nodes are presented.
