Six new dicationic 2D nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores with pyrazinyl-pyridinium electron acceptors have been synthesized by nucleophilic substitutions of 2,6-dichloropyrazine with pyridyl derivatives. These compounds have been characterized as their PF(6)(-) salts by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Large red shifts in the intense, π → π* intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) transitions on replacing -OMe with -NMe(2) substituents arise from the stronger π-electron donor ability of the latter. Each compound shows a number of redox processes which are largely irreversible. Single crystal X-ray structures have been determined for five salts, including two nitrates, all of which adopt centrosymmetric packing arrangements. Molecular first hyperpolarizabilities β have been determined by using femtosecond hyper-Rayleigh scattering at 880 and 800 nm, and depolarization studies show that the NLO responses of the symmetric species are strongly 2D, with dominant "off-diagonal" β(zyy) components. Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopic measurements on the ICT bands afford estimated static first hyperpolarizabilities β(0). The directly and indirectly derived β values are large, and the Stark-derived β(0) response for one of the new salts is several times greater than that determined for (E)-4'-(dimethylamino)-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium hexafluorophosphate. These Stark spectroscopic studies also permit quantitative comparisons with related 2D, binuclear Ru(II) ammine complex salts.  相似文献

A series of chromophoric salts has been prepared in which 4-(diphenylamino)phenyl (Dpap) electron donor groups are connected to electron-accepting diquaternized 2,2'-bipyridyl (diquat) units. The main aim is to combine large quadratic and cubic nonlinear optical (NLO) effects in potentially redox-switchable molecules with 2D structures. The chromophores have been characterized as their PF(6)(-) salts by using various techniques including electronic absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The visible absorption spectra are dominated by intense π → π* intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) bands, and all of the compounds show two reversible or quasireversible diquat-based reductions and partially reversible Dpap oxidations. Single crystal X-ray structures have been obtained for one salt and for the precursor compound (E)-4-(diphenylamino)cinnamaldehyde, both of which adopt centrosymmetric space groups. First hyperpolarizabilities β have been measured by using hyper-Rayleigh scattering (HRS) with a 800 nm laser, and Stark (electroabsorption) spectroscopy of the ICT bands affords estimated static first hyperpolarizabilities β(0). The directly and indirectly derived β values are large and generally increased substantially for the bis-Dpap derivatives when compared with their monosubstituted analogues. Polarized HRS studies show that the NLO responses of the disubstituted species are dominated by "off-diagonal" β(zyy) components. Lengthening the diquaternizing alkyl unit lowers the electron-acceptor strength and therefore increases the ICT energies and decreases the E(1/2) values for diquat reduction. However, compensating increases in the ICT intensity prevent significant decreases in the Stark-based β(0) responses. Cubic NLO properties have been measured by using the Z-scan technique over a wavelength range of 520-1600 nm, revealing relatively high two-photon absorption cross-sections of up to 730 GM at 620 nm for one of the disubstituted chromophores.  相似文献

Solid-state decomposition of [V3O(O2CPh)6(H2O)3]Cl at 300 degrees C followed by alcoholysis of the product gives the new vanadium complexes [V6O6(PhCO2)6(CH3O)6(CH3OH)3] (1), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C2H5O)6(C2H5OH)3] (2), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C3H7O)6(C3H7OH)3] (3), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C4H9O)6(C4H9OH)3] (4) and [V4O4(OCH3)6(O2CPh)2(HOCH3)2] (5). Complexes 2, 3 and 5 have been crystallographically characterised. DC magnetic susceptibility studies on complex shows antiferromagnetic coupling leading to a S = 0 spin ground state.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterisation of a range of cobalt pivalate cage complexes are reported. The cages include: a dinuclear Co(II) complex; an oxo-centred Co(III) triangle; tetranuclear Co(II) heterocubanes and butterflies; tetranuclear heterovalent cobalt butterflies and hexanuclear edge-sharing bitetrahedra; heterovalent penta-, hexa- and hepta-nuclear cages based on [M(4)O(4)] heterocubane cores; and a tetradecanuclear cage based on heterocubanes sharing edges and vertices. Spectroscopic studies suggest that some of these cores are retained in solution, but that only in the Co(III) triangle is the structure including ligands retained. A scheme is proposed to account for the many structures observed, which may be applicable to other polymetallic cage complexes.  相似文献

ESR. data are reported for the radical anions (II? to VI?) of five alkyl substituted 6a-thiathiophthenes. Rates and activation parameters for the inversion of the 3,4-trimethylene chain in IV?, V? and VI? have been obtained by means of an iterative least squares computer program ESRCEX. Preferential conformations of the alkyl substituents are discussed in terms of the 〈cos2θ〉 dependence of the β-proton coupling constants and with the aid of molecular models. Experimental evidence strongly suggests that the partial rotation of the ethyl and isopropyl groups in V? and VI? is correlated with the inversion of the 3,4-trimethylene chain.  相似文献

Three novel uranyl complexes with organic phosphine oxide ligands and bridging fluorides have been synthesised and structurally characterised. In [ UO2(μ-F)(TPPO)3 2][BF4]2 · nC6H14, 1, and [ UO2(-μF)(TBPO)3 2][BF4]2 2, (where TPPO and TBPO are triphenylphosphine oxide and tri-n-butylphosphine oxide, respectively) two UO2 2+ moieties are bridged by two fluorides with three additional terminal PO donor ligands coordinated to each uranium centre. The dicationic complexes are both charge balanced by two uncoordinated tetrafluoroborate anions. In the related structure, [UO2(μ-F)(F)(DPPMO2)]2 · 2MeOH (3), terminal fluoride is also coordinated to both uranyl centres (where DPPMO2 = bis(diphenylphosphine oxide)methane). All three complexes were prepared during attempted syntheses of complexes with tetrafluoroborate directly coordinated to uranium. It is clear from these results that the fluorophilicity of UO2 2+ causes the abstraction of fluoride from [BF4], with the weakly coordinating anion only present as a counter cation in 1 and 2, and absent completely in 3.  相似文献

A new tetragonal (P42(1)2) crystalline form of [Cr8F8Piv16] (HPiv = pivalic acid, trimethyl acetic acid) is reported. The ring-shaped molecules, which are aligned in a parallel fashion in the unit cell, form almost perfectly planar, regular octagons. The interaction between the CrIII ions is antiferromagnetic (J = 12 cm(-1)) which results in a S = 0 spin ground state. The low-lying spin excited states were investigated by cantilever torque magnetometry (CTM) and high-frequency EPR (HFEPR). The compound shows hard-axis anisotropy. The axial zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameters of the first two spin excited states (S = 1 and S = 2, respectively) are D1 = 1.59(3) cm(-1) or 1.63 cm(-1) (from CTM and HFEPR, respectively) and D2 = 0.37 cm(-1) (from HFEPR). The dipolar contributions to the ZFS of the S = 1 and S = 2 spin states were calculated with the point dipolar approximation. These contributions proved to be less than the combined single-ion contributions. Angular overlap model calculations that used parameters obtained from the electronic absorption spectrum, showed that the unique axis of the single-ion ZFS is at an angle of 19.3(1) degrees with respect to the ring axis. The excellent agreement between the experimental and the theoretical results show the validity of the used methods for the analysis of the magnetic anisotropy in antiferromagnetic CrIII rings.  相似文献

Targeted delivery of aluminum tetrasulfophthalocyanine (AlPcS4) to the scavenger receptor of macrophages, via coupling to maleylated bovine serum albumin (mal-BSA), was explored as a means to improve photodynamic efficacy. The AlPcS4 was covalently coupled to BSA (9:1 molar ratio) via one or two sulfonamide-hexanoic-amide spacer chains, followed by treatment with maleic anhydride to yield the mal-BSA-phthalocyanine conjugates. The latter were tested for singlet oxygen production, receptor-mediated cell uptake and phototoxicity toward J774 cells of macrophage origin and nonphagocytic EMT-6 cells. Cell uptake of 125I-mal-BSA showed specific binding for J774 cells but not for EMT-6 cells. Competition studies of the conjugates with 125I-mal-BSA showed that coupling of AlPcS4 to BSA resulted in recognition of the conjugate by the scavenger receptor, whereas coupling to mal-BSA further enhanced its binding affinity. This suggests that affinity for the scavenger receptor is related to the overall negative charge of the protein. Phototoxicity of the conjugates toward J774 cells paralleled their relative affinity, with mal-BSA-AlPcS4 coupled via two spacer chains showing the highest activity. The conjugates were less phototoxic toward the EMT-6 cell line. The activities in both cell lines of all conjugated AlPcS4 preparations were, however, lower than that of the free disulfonated AlPcS2. Possible implications for the in vivo use of protein-photosensitizer conjugates to target selectively various macrophage-associated disorders is discussed.  相似文献

The reaction of [NEt(4)](2)[Fe(2)OCl(6)] with sodium benzoate, 4,6-dimethyl-2-hydroxypyrimidine (dmhp), and 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane (H(3)thme) gives the undecametallic compound [NEt(4)][Fe(11)O(4)(O(2)CPh)(10)(thme)(4)(dmhp)(2)Cl(4)]. X-ray crystallography, EPR spectroscopy, bulk magnetic susceptibility studies, and low-temperature single-crystal magnetic measurements were used to characterize the compound. Magnetic measurements indicate an S = (11)/(2) ground state with the parameters g = 2.03 and D = -0.46 cm(-)(1). Single-crystal magnetic studies show hysteresis of molecular origin at T < 1.2 K with fast quantum mechanical tunneling at zero field.  相似文献
