Simultaneous determination of cocaine and its metabolites with caffeine in rat serum microsamples by high-performance liquid chromatography

A single, isocratic high-performance liquid chromatographic method is described for the determination of cocaine and three of its metabolites along with caffeine in serum microsamples (50 microliters). The small sample size permits the tracking of pharmacokinetic data over time in individual, small animals. The method also was used to demonstrate that cocaine, benzoylecgonine and norcocaine in rat serum samples were stable for at least a month without the presence of sodium fluoride.     

Layer-by-layer assembled multilayer films of titanate nanotubes, Ag- or Au-loaded nanotubes, and nanotubes/nanosheets with polycations

Aqueous suspensions of hydrothermally synthesized titanate nanotubes and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) have been employed to fabricate multilayer films on various substrates in a layer-by-layer fashion. Atomic force microscopy displays the dense coverage of the substrate surface by the nanotubes. UV-vis absorption spectroscopy confirms the consecutive growth of PDDA/nanotube layer pairs. Single crystalline Ag and Au nanoparticles with narrow size distribution spatially correlating with the nanotubes have been obtained by treating the nanotubes with AgNO(3) or HAuCl(4) aqueous solution followed by chemical reduction. The noble metal nanoparticles show a strong surface plasmon absorption band. A multilayer film construction of the noble-metal-loaded nanotubes has also been achieved. This process has been further extended to the heteroassembly of nanotubes/nanosheets in different layer sequences.     

Enhancement of three-photon absorption cross-sections in a novel class of symmetrical charge transfer fluorene-based molecules

The three-photon absorption effect (3PA) of two novel symmetrical charge transfer fluorene-based molecules (abbreviated as BASF and BMOSF) has been determined by using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser pumped with 38 ps pulses at 1064 nm in DMF. The measured 3PA cross-sections are 84 × 10⁻⁷⁸ and 114 × 10⁻⁷⁸ cm⁶ s², respectively. The geometries and electronic excitations of these two molecules are systematically studied by PM3 and ZINDO/S methods. The relationships between 3PA cross-sections and intramolecular charge transfer are discussed micromechanically. The experimental and theoretical results have shown that the larger intramolecular charge transfer, which was characterized by the charge density difference between the ground state (S₀) and the first excited state (S₁), the greater enhancement of the 3PA cross-sections.     

Do proficiency tests always verify laboratories’ performance? The case of FAPAS PT 0270

In this paper, the case of FAPAS PT 0270 “Doramectin and Oxfendazole in Sheep Liver” is discussed. During evaluation of the data received from participants (determination of total, oxidised oxfendazole residue and calculation of the sum of oxfendazole and oxfendazole sulfone residues), significant differences were observed between the results obtained by use of two analytical approaches. This phenomenon can be explained by the route of oxfendazole metabolism, which results in the presence of fenbendazole in the sample. This was not predicted by the provider; consequently, not all the necessary tests on the material were conducted. Due to the high uncertainty of the z-scores in this test, the results of the PT cannot be used for purposes of evaluation, and the benefits of participation in PT 0270 are questionable.     

A novel formal total synthesis of cephalotaxine

A formal total synthesis of cephalotaxine (CET), the parent structure of antileukemia Cephalotaxus alkaloids, was achieved through a novel synthesis of the pentacyclic amino enone 4 by a rapid annulation of readily available beta-(3,4-methylenedioxy)phenethylamine (2), delta-valerolactone, and bromoacetone.

Asymmetric Intramolecular Hydroalkoxylation of Unactivated Alkenes Catalyzed by Chiral N‐Triflyl Phosphoramide and TiCl4†

By using a combination of a chiral N‐triflyl phosphoramide and TiCl₄ as the catalyst, a new process for asymmetric intramolecular hydroalkoxylation of unactivated alkenes was developed, producing various chiral tetrahydrofuran derivatives in 51%—99% yields with 30%—71% ee's.     

L-赖氨酸锌兔体内生物利用度研究

用原子吸收分光光度法和氨基酸自动分析仪法分别测定兔血清锌浓度和血清L-赖氨酸含量．结果表明．L-赖氨酸锌中锌的相对生物利用度明显优于硫酸锌．而其中的L-赖氨酸的相对生物利用度与L-赖氨酸组比较无明显差异．

微量元素活性剂口服液对中老年人血液脂蛋白和脂质过氧化反应的影响

30名受试者平均年龄59．5±6．9岁．其中女性11名。每名受试者连续饮用微量元素活性剂口服液1个月。结果表明．血清总胆固醇由6．037mmol／L减少到4.867mmol／L，P＜0.01。低密度脂蛋白由4.470mmol／L减少到3．667mmol／L．P＜0．O1．甘油三脂和极低密度脂蛋白也分别降低了9．8％和10．6％；而高密度脂蛋白由0.720mmol／L增至1．003mmol／L，P＜O．O5；血浆丙二醛浓度由4．435mmol／L降至4.081mmol／L，P＜0．05：红细胞谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶和超氧化物歧化酶浓度均升高。血脂和血脂蛋白的变化表明．微量元素活性剂口服液对中老年人防治脑动脉硬化和冠心病具有良好作用。
