Light scattering from magnons in CsCoBr3 has been measured for temperatures well below the upper antiferromagnetic 3D ordering temperature of TlN = 28 K. These experiments reveal multiple magnon features of energies in the range 90 to 170 cm-1 similar to those found in CsCoCl3 but previously unobserved for the bromide. Prominent features in the spectrum and their temperature dependence are described in terms of a recent theory by Shiba. Other, weaker features are explained by a simple extension of the theory to include fluctuations. A new band is observed at 178 cm-1, whose intensity drops sharply prior to the lower 3D ordering transition at T∥N = 10 K. This band is assigned to magnon-phonon combination scattering. 相似文献

The hydroboration of phosphaalkynes with Piers’ borane (HB(C6F5)2) generated unusual phosphaalkenylboranes [RCH=PB(C6F5)2]2 that persisted as dimers in both solution and the solid state. These P2B2 heterocycles underwent ring opening when subjected to nucleophiles, such as pyridine and tert‐butylisocyanide, to yield monomeric phosphaalkenylborane adducts RCH=PB(C6F5)2(L). Three rationally designed glucose–platinum conjugates (Glc–Pts) were synthesized and their biological activities evaluated. The Glc–Pts, 1 – 3 , exhibit high levels of cytotoxicity toward a panel of cancer cells. The subcellular target and cellular uptake mechanism of the Glc–Pts were elucidated. For uptake into cells, Glc–Pt 1 exploits both glucose and organic cation transporters, both widely overexpressed in cancer. The mean and RMS axial velocity field in the central sagittal plane of an idealized representation of the human extrathoracic airway (ETA) during steady inspiration was studied experimentally using single and X-hot-wire anemometry (HWA). Complementary flow-visualization results illustrate the complex nature of this flow, which includes several regions of separated, secondary, and recirculating flow. Hot-wire experiments attest to this complexity, with several regions of high localized turbulence intensity measured distal to the oropharynx. Physiologically accurate flow rates of 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 l/min are considered. These flow rates encompass a wide range of respiratory patterns, from normal breathing to the rapid inhalation typically encountered during the use of pharmaceutical aerosol inhalation devices.

A gas chromatographic method for the analysis of nine organo-chlorine pesticides in wildlife plasma is described. Reversed-phase solid phase extraction is utilized to extract the organochlorine pesticides from plasma. This is followed by a normal phase solid phase extraction clean-up as the pesticides are recovered by elution with hexane:ethyl ether (1:1) and quantified by gas chromatogra-phy/electron capture detection.
