Ion plated indium oxide : infrared and optical study

The high optical transparency of ion plated indium oxide combined with their mechanical hardness and good environmental stability have opened up numerous applications in the line of sophisticated optoelectronic devices. Indium is evaporated at a low oxygen pressure on to an ordinary glass substrate mounted under the cathode and biased by a r.f. generator at 13,6 M Hz. Infrared spectra are recorded in the range 5000–200 cm^?1 by A.T.R. and reflexion-absorption spectroscopy, and show between 800 and 200 cm^?1 bands due to stretching and bending modes predicted by a factor group analysis. A tentative assignment is made of the highest frequency. Last U.V. and visible spectra are discussed.

A substituted 1-azaadamantane derivative by “one pot” cyclisation of monocyclic monoterpenoids

Cyclisation of monocyclic amines $\text{via}$ iminium intermediates provides a facile synthesis of a substituted 1-azaadamantane derivative.     

Interplay between cation-pi, anion-pi and pi-pi interactions.

The interplay between three important noncovalent interactions involving aromatic rings is studied by means of high level ab initio calculations. They demonstrate that very strong synergic effects are present in complexes where either cation–π or anion–π and π‐‐π interactions coexist. These strong synergic effects have been studied using the “atoms in molecules” theory and the physical nature of the interactions investigated by means of the molecular interaction potential with polarization (MIPp).     

Oxydation photochimique d'amines tertiaires et c'alcaloïdes XI: Photooxydation sensibilisée de la corynanthéidine. Transformation de dérivés de type corynanthéine en dérivés de type sarpagine

1 - Benzenesulfonyl - 17 - methoxy - 5α - cyano - 16ζ, 17 - 2α, 7α - tetrahydrocorynantheidine 21c, which was obtained by photosensitized oxidation of 1 - benzenesulfonyl - 17 - methoxy - 16ζ, 17 - 2α, 7α - tetrahydro-corynantheidine 20d effected in the presence of KCN, has been transformed into 1- benzene - sulfonyl - 2α, 7α - 20α, 19 - tetrahydro - 10 - deoxysarpagine 24b. A mechanism is proposed for the formation of 6α - hydroxy - 5α - cyano - 2α, 7α - dihydrocroynantheidine when 1-trifluoroacetyl - 2α, 7α - dihydro - corynantheidine was irradiated in the presence of rose bengale, oxygen and KCN.     

The [4+2]] addition of singlet oxygen to thebaine: new access to highly functionalized morphine derivatives via opioid endoperoxides

The photooxidation of thebaine (3) with a sun lamp affords two main products: hydrodibenzofuran 10 (major) and benzofuran 11 (minor). The latter compound becomes predominant if a Hg lamp is used instead of a sun lamp. The formation of 10 proceeds via an endoperoxide intermediate that undergoes oxidation at the nitrogen atom. Protection of the nitrogen either by protonation or quaternization prevents its oxidation and thus the photooxidation of 3 in acid media constitutes a one-pot procedure for the preparation of 14-hydroxycodeinone 35. Photooxidation of the thebaine ammonium salt 31 allows the isolation in good yields of the corresponding to thebaine endoperoxide 32. The selective protection and reduction of the keto, aldehyde, and olefinic groups of hydrodibenzofuran 10 allowed the preparation of several diol and keto alcohol derivatives. This is the first report on the use of photooxidation to functionalize thebaine at C(6) and C(14) and also the first on the isolation of opioid endoperoxides.     

The assignment of the absolute configuration of 1,2-diols by low-temperature NMR of a single MPA derivative

[reaction: see text] The absolute configuration of 1,2-primary/secondary diols can be easily assigned by low-temperature NMR of a bis-MPA ester derivative. The assignment requires the analysis of just the methylene protons, is not limited by the absence of signals from the R group of the diol, and requires a very small and recoverable sample.     

Leishmanicidal activity of passifloricin A and derivatives

Several natural and hemisyntetic passifloricins were assayed against Leishmania panamensis amastigotes. High leishmanicidal activity as well as toxicity was observed. The structure of a new compound is also reported.     

Facile oxidative conversion of hydrazides of carboxylic acids to corresponding acids,esters and amides using copper compounds

Oxidative conversion of hydrazides of carboxylic acids to acids, esters and amides using Cu salts was studied. Acids were obtained in high yields by using a catalytic amount of Cu(OAc)₂ at room temperature by bubbling oxygen. Hydrazides were converted to esters by the treatment with Cu(OR)Cl or Cu(OR)₂ formed in situ from CuCl₂ and sodium alkoxide. Amides were obtained in high yields by the oxidation of hydrazides with CuCl₂ in the presence of amines.
