We consider the corrections that arise at one loop when integrating out heavy fields in supersymmetric models. We show that, in type-I see-saw models, complex AN- and BN-terms of the heavy right-handed neutrino give radiative contributions to the neutron EDM, as well as new dominant contributions to the electron EDM. Type-II and type-III see-saw also predict a pure gauge correction that makes complex the masses of the weak gauginos. All the see-saw models can predict observable EDM for the electron and for the neutron in a peculiar ratio.
We update instability and metastability bounds of the Standard Model electroweak vacuum in view of the recent ATLAS and CMS Higgs results. For a Higgs mass in the range 124–126 GeV, and for the current central values of the top mass and strong coupling constant, the Higgs potential develops an instability around 1011 GeV, with a lifetime much longer than the age of the Universe. However, taking into account theoretical and experimental errors, stability up to the Planck scale cannot be excluded. Stability at finite temperature implies an upper bound on the reheat temperature after inflation, which depends critically on the precise values of the Higgs and top masses. A Higgs mass in the range 124–126 GeV is compatible with very high values of the reheating temperature, without conflict with mechanisms of baryogenesis such as leptogenesis. We derive an upper bound on the mass of heavy right-handed neutrinos by requiring that their Yukawa couplings do not destabilize the Higgs potential.
We obtained twelve new far infrared laser transitions by optically pumping the CH2DOH, CH3I, CD3I and Trioxymethylene molecules with a CW CO2 laser having a tunability range of 280 MHz. We measured the wavelength, polarization, relative intensity and pump offset
relative to the CO2 center frequency for all the new lines.
Twenty-five new laser lines have been obtained in the wavelength region from 155 to 830 μm by optically pumping the CD2Cl2 (deuterated dichloromethane) molecule with a CW CO2 laser having a tunability range of 300 MHz. The wavelength, polarization relative to that of CO2 pumping radiation, and offset relative to the CO2 center frequency were determined for all of the new lines and some other already known laser emissions. For all of them we
give also the relative intensity and the optimum pressure of operation.

We have investigated a high-resolution Fourier transform (FT) absorption spectrum of the 13CH3OH isotopomer of methanol from 400 to 950 cm−1 with the “Ritz” program. We present the assignments of 7160 transitions, 3021 of which belong to A-symmetry, and 4139 to E-symmetry. These transitions occur between states labeled by K quantum numbers up to 14, and by torsional quantum numbers n up to 4. The “Ritz” program evaluated the energies of the 4684 involved levels with an accuracy of the order of 10−4 cm−1. All of the assigned lines correspond to transitions involving torsionally excited levels within the ground small-amplitude vibrational state.
A rational design of magnetic capturing nanodevices, based on a specific interaction with circulating tumor cells (CTCs), can advance the capturing efficiency and initiate the development of modern smart nanoformulations for rapid isolation and detection of these CTCs from the bloodstream. Therefore, the development and evaluation of magnetic nanogels (MNGs) based on magnetic nanoparticles and linear thermoresponsive polyglycerol for the capturing of CTCs with overexpressed transferrin (Tf+) receptors has been presented in this study. The MNGs are synthesized using a strain‐promoted “click” approach which has allowed the in situ surface decoration with Tf–polyethylene glycol (PEG) ligands of three different PEG chain lengths as targeting ligands. An optimal value of around 30% of cells captures is achieved with a linker of eight ethylene glycol units. This study shows the potential of MNGs for the capture of CTCs and the necessity of precise control over the linkage of the targeting moiety to the capturing device.
Summary Transmission and reflection of an electromagnetic discontinuity wave colliding with a non characteristic shock in a dielectric medium with non-linear constitutive equation is analyzed in the case of polarized fields depending on one space variable and time. The transmitted and reflected amplitudes are obtained; the evolution law of the transmitted discontinuity is integrated for propagation through a constant state and the appearing of a new value of the critical time is discussed.
